Mass Effect 3 Wii U $11 Amazon

:x I got it for 360 with the major DLC but like.. this price makes me wanna buy it again. Is there anything about the Wii U version that is new or superior to the original? Active online community?

Has anyone here played/tried both the Wii U and PS3/360 versions? Just wondering if I'm better off getting this or the cheaper PS3 version.

I've tried none of them but judging from Amazon's reviews, the X360 has an average score of 3 stars, PS3 has 4 and Wii U has 4.5. Make of that what you will.

They mapped all the powers to hotkeys on the Wii U gamepad, that alone makes it worth getting and playing again especially for $12.

hopefully there's some sort of comic that lets you make all the choices from the first two games, but whatever.

I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't mostly because of the ending debacle at launch. By the time the wii u version came out people were over going out of their way to leave a bad review based on the ending.

Forgot about that, internet cried bloody murder for 24 hours then a new cat meme emerged and all was forgotten.

Awesome deal IMO 11 bucks, no tax, free 2 day shipping. I've read amazing things about ME1 and 2 though never played and don't plan on it (locks door) due to hatred of backlogging. Let's see how this wii u gamepad performs.

I haven't opened my copy of the game yet but to my understanding this is exactly how they handled not having the first two games on the system.

The question is... can it get cheaper? I've played through ME3 7+ times, so I can wait for a cheaper price. That being said, it's never a bad time to play a mass effect game though.

Just bought it. For $11.98 shipped, why the hell not. Anyone know if remote play is supported for it? Kinda hoping that I'll be able to play this entirely on the gamepad without ever having to look at my tv.

Edit: Answered my own question with a quick Google search. For anyone else wondering, yes, the entire game can be played with only using the gamepad.

Damn. I just bought a Wii U, and although I'm pretty cash-strapped at the moment, I can't resist the price on this one. I love this series and was hoping to pick up a copy of the third one at some point. Now's as good a time as any, I suppose!

There are some slight framerate issues with the Wii U version compared to the 360 version. Nothing too bad or that noticeable though.

Regarding the DLC: the Extended Cut, From Ashes, and a few multiplayer DLCs are included on disc. You miss out on Leviathan, Omega, and the Citadel DLC, and you can't download them as DLC.

The game is a cool edition to the Wii U, but I really got into the universe and the lore personally; some of the missing DLC really enhances the experience.

I bought it.. I bought it again.. you guys did this to me. Also found darksiders 2 for $29 like new. :x how is that game still so expensive? BestBuy has it on clearance at $48

Active online? WiiU? What do you think?

I don't remember the specifics but there is some DLC included. Most, if not all, of the paid DLC that is included is multiplayer though, and considering how *chuckle* *ahem* "lively" the online is you'll never use it once.

In addition, like many WiiU ports, there are serious framerate issues. Graphics also take a hit but personally I barely noticed, if you are just going to play on the gamepad anyways (why :?: ) then you won't notice. Framerate was a very serious issue though, a massive annoyance that really brought down the experience.

If WiiU is your only option to play this, well you probably shouldn't be playing Mass Effect anyways cause it's like starting Star Wars with Episode 6 or Godfather from part III, or even starting Watchmen from the 11th issue. But if you are going to insist anyways, the WiiU's single player mode is playable but it is certainly a downgrade from the PS360 version.

For somebody like you whose already played it, I can't think of a single good reason to buy this, especially when the trilogy is starting to go for under $30. The gamepad features add nothing, the framerate does drag the experience down, and online is deader than Andrea Cardoso's teaching career. Aside from a thinly veiled excuse to hook the WiiU back up there's nothing here for anybody with a high end PC or PS360.

Anyone think this could have any value one day?
Definitely!

Like $11...

: P

This is $20 at TRU but part of the b1g140% off on the budget games or whatever and I thought that was the lowest price but this definitely beats it and you can just get it alone and not have to scour for a second game!

I believe the SP is smooth on all systems, but I mostly played MP. In MP, there a difference in performance with PS3 being the worst one with freezes and frame-rate issues. PC, I read is supposedly the best next to X360 followed by Wii-U.

is there local multiplayer for thus?
No, MP is online only.

That surely has more to do with people objecting to the story/ending of the game, and the Xbox 360 version is the most popular version so it's going to be the most popular target. Everything I've heard is that the Wii U port has frame rate problems compared to the 360 and PS3 versions.

It's a shame they never ported over the entire triology to the Wii U, but being EA they went the cheapest route possible. IE charging $60 for a late port and just adding the MP and From Ashes DLC and Extended Cut. FYI all the MP dlc was free on the 360/PS3 when it came out.

I've been eyeing this for a second play through. Be interesting to see how different the game is given different choices and the lack of a play through of the first two games. I believe even with the comic choices certain characters don't exist in the third game on the Wii U.

If your PC sucks and for some reason you never bought the 360 or PS3 versions and somehow only own a Wii U? Its a must buy for the current price. As a die hard ME fan I'm considering double dipping if the price somehow goes lower lol.

e.e Its the future.. we meet other advanced alien life forms.. conflicts arise. We form intergalactic alliances. I jumped into ME3 without playing the first 2 and I still enjoyed it and was able to piece things together.

Yeah, performance wise, I think Eurogamer said that the wii u is worse (but that has usually been the case for wii u cross platform releases). So you're getting more content, but it's not the definitive version.

Wow, that summary is a pretty big disservice to Mass Effect. The story is so much more than that.

Like I said, it's comperable to starting Star Wars at episode 6 or picking up Watchmen at the 11th hour. Is it possible? Certainly. But you are doing yourself a major disservice and you are going to miss some things. Mass Effect is, ending shenanigans aside, a masterpiece that deserves to be experienced in it's entirety. The comics at the start may help that to a point, but it's not much better than just reading plot synopsis on Wikipedia. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't experienced the first two for that reason.

I mean that depends on your definition of value, but I'd say almost certainly not. Mass Effect isn't exactly a rare game by anyone's definition, and WiiU is hardly a popular console. Adding to that, it's the worst version of the last game in the trilogy. It's available digitally pretty much everywhere, and even if the PSN and Xbox Live disable online for PS3/XB1 you still can pick it on *shudder* Origin.

seeing as how so many who invested their time and adored the series since the first entry were enraged about how it all culminated, I dunno if I feel so bad for jumping in at the end.

I'm in for one although I have it for 360. I bought this system and absolutely love the functionality. The potential for this thing is huge! Unfortunately nobody knows what it is. My buddy a 360/Ps3 owner (as am I) thought it was a Wii add on. Not a good sign. After a tour of Nintendoland (5 player) and some ZombiU single and multiplayer he was impressed! I showed him the system specs the backwards compatibility(games and controllers) and what games are coming down the pike-he was sold! If they marketed this WIIU correctly and had just one 'Goldeneye' for it I am absolutely confident this thing could hang with the next gen offerings.

:x I got the delivery complete notice. >} can't wait to get home. Wonder which classes would benefit most from the gamepad.. probably something more technical right? sentinel or engineer or something?
