MY GCU membership laughs at this promo. Seriously, though, I'm stoked for more Metal Gear and hope this isn't too short..

There have been reports that it is only 5-6 hours. While that is fine for a game that also has multiplayer, for $40 it is a bit much.

LOL the only pre-order deal that`s better is the $45 TRU ones for $60 titles but I still stick to $40 or less. Will buy this for $25-$30 straight up or via b2g1.

Apparently the ShopRunner service doesn't work on everything and this is one of the items that's not eligible. What a scam...

Was there ever any word on the limited edition coming out in north America? Or is it Japan only?

Gonna go digital on this one.  Got a $10 PSN credit for being a good little early adopter.  $20 for a new Metal Gear on PS4?  I'm there!

I can always pick up the hard copy when it's dirt cheap.

Definitely waiting for a discount or b2g1 sale to pick this up. Just doesn't seem worth the price tag considering it's length.

You know what comes next "But GCU isn`t free" & "I gotta pay $30/$60/$120 for GCU which negates the deal". Even though over the course of 2 yrs they`ll post in threads wishing for the discount that`ll amount well over the cost of a GCU sub. It happened when it was $5/$15 won`t change now.

I wish Konami would be more candid and clear about the linkage between Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. It's still not obvious to me whether Ground Zeroes is like GT5 Prologue -- a semi-release that's folded into the final product -- or if GZ and PP will be sold separately.

Those deals may amount well over the cost of a GCU sub, but the question is, will that amount be MORE than the amount you'd save via taking advantage of other deals, such as this one, on top of saving the $120. Sure, you might save $9 on this game with a sub, but you can save $4 without. That's the ringer. GCU makes sense if no other deals existed, but there are other deals, many of them half as good, many almost as good, and some better. And such is the case on most deals. So the question is not whether you save, but whether you save more. I reckon it's very possible one could save more money by pocketing that $120, and just shopping smart and taking advantage of the best deals elsewhere...

Very few of us paid $120. I am unlocked until September of 2016. Cost me $30. I saved $36 on my three launch titles, plus got a $10 certificate for preordering one of them, plus I received rewardzone points, plus I traded two of them back in for almost what I paid (with my 10% bonus), plus I was able to get a post purchase price match on a later deal which dropped what I paid down essentially another $15 or so dollars.

Yeah, I'm happy with my GCU experience so far.

2 questions: With free shipping, do I still get this on release day?

Also, can I cancel my preorder?

I'm tying to decide if it's worth saving $3 to get the game a couple days after release. Huge MGS fan here.

Depends on how fast Newegg ships it and how close you are. I wouldn't expect it on release day, but a day or two later has been what I've gotten.

Newegg is like Amazon. You can cancel at any time and very easy to do. I preordered for that reason. It doesn't hurt to preorder, worst I cancel it as the game get closer to release. I just don't know if they will add additional content to the physical copy. If both the disc and digital copies are 100% the same, I'll go digital on this.

Now playing: Diablo 3 (360), Lost Planet 3, Saints Row 4, Rayman Legends, Killzone Mercenary, Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm.

Smart shoppers are also big picture thinkers
$30 upgrade means $150 is needed to break even so 1 CE game.
$60 upgrade means $300 is needed to break even so doing a b2g1 each yr would be $240 of the $300
And when you break down what a b2g1 is w/GCU $96 for 3 games that`s pretty much BF prices.
If you spend like most of us on CAG even at $120 GCU will pay off for you but the fact that you gotta pay so much upfront is what makes peoples minds overthink it.
