But since a lot of us "love" the gift card deals newegg offers for games, here's a post about their new Amazon Prime like service they just launched.

Maybe if they had something like 20% off new videogame purchases.

I love Newegg because Im not charged tax, but they never PM amazon or Best Buy and BB with 20% off is amazing

Plus you never have "newegg" credit from trade ins

 
If these companies keep this crap up, I will stop buying new releases altogether.  Seriously, a few years ago Newegg offered new games for 39, sometimes 45 dollars.

Now the best you get is 5 dollar promos, 5 dollars off, or 10 dollar gift cards.  Plus I have to spend 49.99 for free three day shipping. Now they use DHL to ship stuff to me with eggsaver, which always seems to take at least 10 days.

I've been ordering less and less off newegg, primarily reserving it now for JRPGS because the discounts are better then nothing you get anywhere else.

It's to bad newegg is falling off the map like this, they used to my go to place.  Their saving grace might be 50 dollars versus 120 amazon prime coming up.

I guess the lack of being able to trade in stuff and get credit from other sources doesn't make this as viable as prime.

but I know I'm using the trial to buy my PC parts

also wasn't a lot of games uneligble for shoprunners 2 day like toys r us or was it all games?

I'd say that most of the hardware I've ordered from Newegg already had free shipping and it tends to come within 1-2 days. I hope this doesn't change that.

 
DLC comes to online stores.

We offer crap service and shipping, but you can get acceptable shipping and better service DLC for $50 what a steal!

 
I just built a computer almost completely from Newegg, and had free 2-day shipping from the free shoprunner shoprunner itself has been giving out for the last few years.  Unless they drop shoprunner completely this is far less appealing.

Ain't this the damn truth! And just for good measure, they take out features we were used to paying for and try and sell it back to us at a higher cost like it's some kind of "value."

 
Prime cost me less (with the student discount) and gets me their instant streaming which has some mediocre stuff.

Newegg is dumb as hell with this, the only reason I buy anything from them is because im from NY and amazon charges tax, they dont.

Unless this is like that bestbuy service that gives you a discount on games (except without tax) i think its not worthwhile at all

The few times I order from Newegg the items always seem to have free shipping already.  That will probably stop now unfortunately.  Amazon Prime pays for itself in just a few months for me plus I use their streaming service a ton now.  Unless those exclusive deals are amazing I don't think this would be worth it for me.

I was going to say the same. 90% of the time I get my orders from then in 3 days or less anyway. Also they tend to have a lot of free shipping specials. meh

 
newegg went downhill over the years i do not trust them they wasted my time often and took money from me. To each there own but cs sucks and now i bet u need to pay for low end cs gl peeps.

 
This would make sense for like a small business owner that has to order stuff all the time throughout the year. Dont see the value for most individuals.

Where did you read up on that? That's a huge price increase for prime.

Was planning to purchase a few parts for my pc gaming rig I'm slowly building. Not sure if the price is worth it as I am paying for amazon prime already. I'll probably wait it out and hope more offers come from newegg premiere.

Funny thing is, Newegg used to offer all this 10 years ago.

-Free 3-day or usually faster shipping

-Great customer service, restocking fees often waived, free returns

-Great promos and deals for Newegg members

It used to just be called their "standard service" though. Now I guess you have to pay $49.99 to actually get that.

 
Will wait for someone to post what kind of offers/deals they have and sign up for a month then. I doubt I'll do a year but who knows - if we are lucky we can do 5 friends/family per membership.

 
I learned a valuable lesson with Newegg, never preorder a video game with them. Just wait for it to actually hit release date, you have about a 95% chance of it being shoprunner eligible and since they don't sell a ton of video games you have decent odds of getting the LE/CE/whatever special edition for the normal edition price.

I got SMT IV about a month ago and it was the limited edition, I ordered something last year that had been out a couple days and had the same experience, I've done this now about 4 or 5 times and not missed once.

If this stupid program kills shoprunner there I'll probably cut my Newegg consumption drastically.

I really don't see the benefit of paying for this service when they already have shoprunner available which offers 2 day shipping (except heavy items). Shoprunner can be had for free with AMEX card and most the time they just give away memberships to their service and they offer free return shipping as well.

My online shopping has gone down dramatically with California tax on Newegg and Amazon and prices being closer to price matching rather than uber deals. 

Add to the fact that both companies' shipping services (damage items, slow as balls, more expensive for free shipping) have gone down hill over the years.

No it isnt. Certainly not a game related deal.

Amazon prime is better because you get access to streaming content included.

Ive never had newegg charge me for a return or charge a restock fee because I dont fill out the forms, I chat with customer service and ask them to email me a prepaid shipping label and they always do no questions asked.

Only thing I use newegg for anymore is expensive parts because of the no sales tax in my state from them. Most smaller items they have amazon has also.

I don't think I'll be pre-ordering many games anymore, unless it's a must have like Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain (not Ground Zeroes) or GTA 6 or something along those lines.

I don't see why you would use MGS or GTA as examples of something to preorder. They make millions of those, you can easily find two dozen copies at every store on release day.

Because it's not about availability those are the only games I even want when they first come out the rest I'll buy used when they are cheaper and I'm so cheap I'd still rather save like $5 bucks + no tax rather than buy them in stores.

Agreed. All the 'benefits' to this subscription service should be core features of the website.

I stopped using Newegg for pre-orders after they fucked it up, but I still buy an occasional game on sale. Never once paid for shipping, now you have to pay for shipping or pay yearly, wtf? Not to mention I should be able to return items for their mistake and not be charged restocking fees, this is hilarious.

5 bucks says slickdeals still beats their 'advance notice on promos'. Just you won't be able to use the promos anymore unless you are subscribed? Hah.
