Vita Slim in U.S Spring 2014

no LE = sucks. Hate that US bundles are about bundled value compared to buying game/vita separately and not increase value by providing a limited edition syste.

gow vita? the same gow1/2 that pratically everyone who is remotely into Sony IP had played on PS2 and again on PS3?  *yawn*.  At least PSP got Chains of Olympus, even if it is less than 5 hours long.  Fun reading how they try to psych it all up, gow on vita, on the go! woohoo!

Glad I decided to just get an original from Cowboom (has shipped, but haven't gotten it yet).

I played the shit out of BL2 on 360 and an 8GB card isn't very useful.

I thought maybe the slim would be coupled with a price drop since the LCD screens are cheaper than the oled, but oh well.

Picking up a new slim Vita when it releases, even though I have two OLED Vitas.  I can add the slim to my second PSN account (which only has a Vita on it now), so I'll have yet another backup system.

Oh, and getting GOW 1 & 2 on Vita is fantastic!  Loved the PSP versions and am looking forward to the remastered PS2 versions when they come out!

$199 with a game and a memory card, the game and memory card are worth $29.99 and $20 respectively amking the system a value of $150. Right around that price seems reasonable considering the retail price of the PS Vita is $189. I mean you weren't going to get a slim for $99, no way! So $150 for an amazing add on to the PS4, handheld gaming device, and great potential with PLaystation Now? I think that is pretty good! I spent $300 on my Vita when it was released and I still love it and am fine with what I paid!

Not to mention the Slim brings some great features that the regular doesn't. USB instead of dumb Sony connection, 1 GB internal memory, and longer battery life. Yes it has an LCD screen, but it brings other things to the table.

Sure, but I got my used OG one for $120. Much better than $200 for a new one with a game I already played to death and a memory card I wouldn't use as it's too small and a lesser screen. Battery life had me intrigued, but it's only an our more (and still too short IMO), so just no appeal to me.

If the slim had launced at $150-170 I probably would have opted for it (or maybe just got an OLED one if they dropped in price too) vs. buying used. But as is, I'm happy with my decision as long as my used one isn't beat to shit. If it is I'll send it back and just drop the $190 for a new Wifi OLED one.

But that wasn't my point, you already have one... for other people all of this is important. I like new versus used so there is that for people too.

Sorry, I wasn't clear above. I don't already have one. I just ordered one after seeing what the prices where for the slim with the inferior screen were in Europe, and was just saying I'm extra glad I didn't wait since the bundle doesn't appeal to me all.

To others, it's a great deal, they prefer buying new or whatever. And that's fine. Different strokes for different folks.

I was just hoping it would be cheaper than current prices, both to justify a new one (when I really don't need more game hardware since I"m drowing in games on PS3, Wii U and 3DS as is) and to signify that maybe Sony was going to get more aggressive with Vita rather than just letting it continue to languish. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of games I want to play on it, or I would have ordered one. But support will dry up going forward if they can't improve sales and get the user base up.

Two things

we don't know how much it's going to cost, it has been stated that it will be released as a stand alone.

and it isn't just the games, PS4 remote play is awesome, not to mention that PS Now will be coming to the Vita... all of these things help, Sony is doing what ever they can to support it, and I am still happy with what I have and what I will have. A PS3 on the go, and a second screen/PS4 when I have wi-fi

Sure, just again saying I'm glad I decided not to wait as a used OG model is a better fit for my budgets and needs.

And agreed on other usages.  If not for PS4 remote play for when I eventually get a PS4, I probably wouldn't have taken the plunge.  Since moving in with my fiancee I find myself playing my 3DS or off TV on the Wii Gamepad a lot more as the gaming TV is the only one the cable is hooked up to and she likes to work with the TV on.

Amazon has the release date as the last day in May. Glad I imported one.
That date is most likely a placeholder, since the final launch date hasn't been confirmed. I'm definitely going to pick one up when they release the slim with the bundle, even though I have two OLED Vitas.

Anyone know if Sony is going to release this without the Borderlands 2 bundle? I want a Vita and would consider a Slim, but I already own BL 2 and I don't want to go through the hassle of selling the BL 2 code.

It is kind of an odd pack in choice since it sold so much on PS3 and 360.  Most who want to play it have probably already played it to death.

I loved it, but it's a long game with pretty much on reason to replay IMO.  Maybe if it had cross save and people could keep leveling or play DLC they didn't get around to.  Would be moot for me since I played it on 360.

Except they have already announced cross save. For me it is all about mobility. I would love to play games I have already played if I can get the same experience on the go and take it with me. It is why people are excited about the possibility of such a great game, that is long, engaging, and fun to take it on the go now. It is why an announcement like Minecraft for Vita is so big. People want to be able to take the console experience on the go, and the Vita is the only way to do that.

Fair enough.

I don't replay games (variety is the spice of life), and seldom play my Vita outside of the house.  I got it mainly for playing 2D/indie games (as I don't tend to bother with them on consoles on the big screen) and gaming when my fiancee is using the main TV.

And that is one demographic the system reaches. I mean I feel like the PS Vita is great for remote play alone. I just get the added benefit of getting other games. But there are plenty out there that are BL fans that will love being able to do it and they will also found out the other great aspects of the Vita. I think the great thing is the large variety of things the Vita has that can cater to so many different people.

Agreed. It's a shame it hasn't sold more given the many uses it has. It just didn't get the family/kid crowd the 3DS dominated that's key to portable sales I guess.
