Newegg Rayman Legends Wii U $29.99

Ubi is cancelling Watchdogs for WiiU so I'll pass
The game is delayed until after other versions release. Not cancelled.

Get your facts straight. They announced a delay to get the other versions out quicker, since obviously those will sell more. It's shifting resources. They're not going to cancel a game they've invested years into. That's throwing money down the crapper. It may not sell as well on Wii U, but if ZombiU can sell almost 700,000 copies, imagine how many MILLIONS of dollars they'd be forfeiting via cancellation, of a game that's almost finished.

And by the way, Watch Dogs being delayed has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with The Wonderful 101 on sale. If you own a Wii U, W101 is a top-shelf pick I can guarantee you that. And the price is definitely right. If you DON'T own a Wii U, don't come on this thread to troll about Watch Dogs, lying to members about a false cancellation that doesn't exist. Even if it WAS cancelled, why post about it on THIS thread? Besides, nobody buys a Wii U for 3rd party AAA anyways. If you did, you goofed big time. Wii U offers alternative gaming. All exclusives. Obviously, you can buy AAA games for your OTHER console. There is no reason they need to be on Wii U. There is no need for Nintendo to host the exact same ports as everyone else. The purpose of the console is to play DIFFERENT games.

I'm thinking that this game, while great, may be worth waiting for at the sub-$20 mark.
This game is terrific, regardless what price you buy it at. Just a heads up though, they didn't ship that many copies, so get it before it goes out of stock like Fire Emblem Awakening and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate are right now. As copies dry up at retailers, price starts rising by 3rd party sellers.

Despite being the definitive version of this game, I'll wait till it hits $10.

Shouldn't have delayed this Ubisoft, really dumb move.

Thanks for your input...

PS4 version gets my money.
I believe the main difference is that actions of the support character are relegated to a simple button press on everything except the Wii U. On the Wii U you use swipe motions and such on the touch screen of the gamepad to interact and use the support character, among other things.

Many folks say that the Wii U version is the one to play because of it being the original platform the game was developed for, so they had Wii U functionality in mind when they created the levels and gameplay, and I would have to agree with them.

It was supposed to be a Wii U exclusive I think, but it was delayed by Ubisoft so they could force the devs to port it over to the other consoles in order to make more money. But really, any system you play it on -- it's a fantastic game!

Well if you have the coupon and used it online you would have gotten it for $16, if you match this and use it you'll get it for $15 but I'm sure people are still going to try.
But they don't price match and coupon stack.

I'm still torn between the wiiU version and the ps4.

They supposedly used the trackpad on the ps4, so that might help with murphy levels, and they also eliminated load times completely and enhanced the 1080p graphics AND added characters.

(I thought the wii U version was also 1080p though? I wonder if they just ported the wiiU graphics to nextgen and called it better since its better than the 720p ps3 and xbox versions?))

Thing is, you can find the wiiU version used for $8 or so, and with unlocked, the ps4 version is about $24 with the coupon.

Just can't decide if I want to go cheap, or get the best graphic version.

Good to know. Thanks. Do you remember where you heard that they didn't ship very many copies? It makes sense with the wii u's small install base.

People like you are the reason Wii U will fail. You bought the system, but find any excuse not to buy 3rd party games for it. Not buying Rayman Legends for Wii U, just because Ubi delayed it to port to other platforms, just ensures less future 3rd party games on the system. You reap what you sow!

Folks revel in Nintendo's failures apparently.
There has always been this strange love/hate relationship with most fans for Nintendo. Nintendo could give the people exactly what they say they want for a console and a launch line up and the fans would still buy it and still complain. They can't win.

Played the demo on 360 and it was really fun, IMO much better than Origins from what I played.  However...and call me jaded if you want...I just have a hard time paying more than like $20-ish for a side scroller nowadays.  I'll also probably end up just getting on the 360 since that's my main platform.  If it had stayed Wii U exclusive I would have definitely bought it on there but not with it being on the 360 as well.  I'd rather get the achievements than use the tablet.

agreed id rather support this on ps4. No load times, better graphics, trophies, streaming and no tablet.

Better graphics? really? they are basically the same, lol.

Thats cool though, play on the system you like, but this is a thread about the game being on sale for the Wii U.

well said. Fanboys will rage at you for this though. You know logic is frowned upon on the internet.

As someone who gold medals Murfy's levels (and those are arguably the only levels that have touch interactions that aren't dumb and unnecessary) in the extreme challenges, let me add what seems to be an oft overlooked critique of the notion that the Wii U version is the best. We're talking about choosing to use an inferior touchpad that's more of a pain to use than a pleasure. I have a 60" HDTV but to play the definitive version, the game makes me look at the crap LCD with a resistive touchscreen and a shitty, cheap-feeling stylus.

I much preferred Origins on PS3. I bought into the hype that Legends was amazing, when in reality it's a lot less challenging and enjoyable than Origins. It must be the Johnny-come-latelies who only paid attention to Legends because it was one of the only prominent third party games for the Wii U that overinflate how good it is.

I just read an article about the p4 differences yesterday, and the developers were yes talking about improved graphics and effects, and zero load times. For some reason, they seemed to think that was a REAL BIG DEAL, but IMHO a few seconds wait isn't enough to bother me.

I'd like to read a review first comparing PS4 to WiiU before popping for either version.

I don't have a PS4, but do have a Wii U, so I am interested in the version this thread is about.  I still want to know how Gareee determined this could be found for around $8 used.  ........Anyone?

It was used at BB for $8.99, but its back up now to $34.99 or so. I should have got it when I saw it at that price instead of waffling on it.

I think I'll sit this out a bit and see what the comparison reviews are between the ps4 and wiiU versions. We still have super Mario wii u and super Mario 3d wii u to run through, so it would have either been put into the backlog stack, or bumped to the top anyway.

Thanks, I'm going with this deal now since it is cheaper than most used copies and my 6 year old has worn out his controller playing rayman origins.

I nabbed one. Amazon Warehouse had a similar price for a Like New, but I'm willing to pay the extra $1 (decisions!) for the peace of mind of a brand new copy.

Since that review said the WiiU was actually the best version, I finally popped for it over the ps4 version.

Its definitely worth the $16 with gamers unlocked.

Did you even read that? DF thinks its definitive due to the gamepad levels not the visuals. Lol! you should have come with something better than that. Now to crush you.

Dont even better. People will believe what they want to believe.

Just shut up and play the damn game on whatever the hell system you feel like.

Nice job selectively quoting IGN there.

The PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Rayman Legends look the same as the rest, except at a higher resolution. But I didn't feel like this made a big difference in the visual quality, because Rayman's strength is in its arts style rather than its technology. The only benefit here is reduced load times that quickly allow you to zip into a level of choice. The PS4 version has one additional feature: You can take screenshots and then pan and zoom using the Dual Shock 4's touch pad.
