Oh, it'll get cheaper for sure as everything does.  Deal is posted for the fence-sitters who didn't preorder the thing  For those who enjoy the XIII series, this is far from "turrible."

I'm running through NG+ on Hard Mode right now.  Second time through is a blast, because you're OP at the beginning (stats/gear carry over), you know where/when quests become available, and you can abuse the s*&t out of Chronostasis to get things done. . I've got four of the five main quests done in the first 2 days, about 40 side quests and various Canvas of Prayers quests, and killed at least a dozen different monsters to extinction which will make my second run through the Ultimate Lair a cakewalk.  At this rate, I'll probably actually get to make use of the hotels this time around.

zzzzzzzzzz

Well thanks OP.  Target screwed me on the steelbook case and just sent me the regular one so I am sending that back.  Might get this if I get some gift cards for my birthday or just wait.  Currently hooked into SP:SOT and Toukiden so I have about week till I start playing.

BTW saw this at Walmart yesterday for $50 as well.  Looks like that is what it started selling for there, at least at the Williston VT WM.

Amazon was first with the $49.99 price, Walmart followed.  I'm pretty sure BB lowered price to match those other two giants and not lose sales.  I posted the BB deal only because the extra 20% with GCU makes a difference.

How can we totally kill a game? Ahhh yes, a badly implemented and insanely restrictive time limit. That'll be fun!

Game isn't worth $1 imo.

I really want to like this game... really. The mere fact that it (as in the 3rd XIII) exists really makes me wonder what the hell SE is thinking though.

You misunderstood him. If you followed the price drops around the time FFXIII-2 came out, you'd realize "it'll get cheaper soon" means "it'll get cheaper soon". The game hit $10 within a few months of release. The CE even dropped down to $30. This is a good game to wait on a $20 price for, since it won't be long till it drops that low.

I will wait for this to hit the $20-30 mark. I finally platinum'd XIII and did not want to trudge through XIII-2 without setting myself up for it. With how cheap XIII-2 is now, I am confident that if I can spend as little as possible on both just to play through them for trophies and such, then I will be happy.

Heck, let Squenix consider doing a trilogy bundle for all three games for a cheap price during the PS3's last legs and I'll buy it.

Totally ruined dead rising for me, an otherwise great zombie game, forced hand holding quests and time limits kill games people!

Ya I hate time limits... Really lame for slow players like myself, I will get this but I'll wait for that 20$ price range.

a meh storyline with average gameplay along with forgettable characters make the ff13 games a waste of time and money imo. square enix have wasted so much time on these which slowed down development of ff15, kingdom hearts 3 and other titles smh. i miss squaresoft and im still dissapointed with the merger they did with enix :(

Amazon had it for around $45 before as well.

XIII is still sitting in my backlog. I got the CE from best buy real cheap over a year ago, and my biggest worry is how much of a time sink it's going to be. How many hours did you put in for the game and the platinum?

The pacing is roughly 70-80 hours, the majority of which you can amass once you beat the game once and get the ability to complete all the hunts, expand out the Crystanium to full, visit Gran Pulse in the end-game, so on. The thing that really factors into the game is mostly grinding for CP to get one of each class up to Level 5, then completing all the hunts, completing all the hunts with 5 star ratings, completing the last battle with 5 stars...stretched out over 3 and a half years of ownership, I only felt the motivation to see it done cause of Lightning Returns coming out. And it was painful to do for an old fashioned grinding session.

I had yet to buy XIII-2 cause I was leery...but with how cheap it is now, I'll wait until LR is dirt cheap before I look into playing both for more trophies. The story lost itself across 3 games, but the mechanics built into the game for battles and such are what make it fun.

I own XIII-2 as well, same reason... got it cheap. Figured one day (yeah right) I'll play this story of Final Fantasy.

Funny how you mention you felt the urge to go back and platinum the game. Today I plan to go back to Ni No Kuni and work on finishing the platinum. I'm five trophies short, all of the grindy ones. After putting in near 80 hours into it when it came out last year, I couldn't grind any more. On a lazy Sunday like today, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic.

If you plan to platinum both FFXIII and XIII-2 you should plan to sink in a good amount of hours into both. I think it took me about 100 hrs to do everything in FFXIII and about 60+ hours to do everything in XIII-2. Currently working on doing everything in Lightning Returns. Basically have done everything at this point and haven't fought the final boss. I am sitting at 50 hours already.
