sooo... are there ANY RPGs for the wii-u? Ive been browsing games and have been shocked to not find a single one. The closest thing would be Zelda windwaker HD but thats not really an RPG. Are there really no RPG's For this system? Seems odd considering the good RPG library DS and 3ds have

I know theres X or whatever its called coming down the pipe. The game from the guys who did Xenosaga but thats quite a ways out

Looks like your best bets are going to be Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, and Xenoblade Chronicles, but those are Wii games...but you can play them on the WiiU.

I'm pretty sure there are no WiiU RPGs yet/

There are also Tales of Symphonia From the New world, Opoona, ARc Rise fantasia (a solid RPG with terrible english voice acting), Super Paper mario,  and final fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of time (great sequel) on the wii

Ouch.. so i guess its not just me.. there are LITERALLY no RPG's at all for the Wii-u? Not a single one? I find that mind boggling o_O Any idea why that is?

As for all the ones listed there for the wii.. i have them all already. Except Opoono. I've never heard of that one, and it actually looks pretty crappy just from the screenshots i found. Is it really worth a look? I find this kinda funny.. i'll be using my wii-u to play Wii games mostly, just like i used my wii to mostly play gamecube games, hah.

No RPG's yet. The only ones that I know of are SMT X FE and X. Then again the PS4/One has the same problem of no RPG's right now.

RPGs take a long time to develop.  They're also not particularly good money-makers.  The cost:benefit ratio is more than many publishers will even allow.

We live in sad days.  It always takes an age before systems get RPGs.  I feel like the PS3 is just finally starting to get a decent library.

If you want RPGs, though, don't judge on looks.  Opoona has pluses and minuses, for sure, but the appearance should be your least concern.

It's a port, but there is Mass Effect 3: Special Edition and Earthbound, which is only on the Wii U VC (not on the Wii's VC). Child of Light is coming to the eShop on April 30.

Earthbound is a good choice!  There are quite a few goodies on both the VCs, but yeah, it's a shame we have to plumb backlogs.  Then again, I probably have more fun with RPGs of old than many of the new ones...

+1 on Opoona. It has a few issues (mainly the localization-- it's not terrible, but it is sub-par), but if you like charming, fun games with excellent music, it's well worth hunting down. It's also a deeper game than it looks, and in terms of overall tone, there's little else quite like it.

Not to mention that its only $2.99 used at GS now, really can't complain even if you find a disc only copy.

Also, not sure if you can really count it as such (more of a action title button masher), but Pokemon Rumble U has some sort of RPG elements. Well, if you can call Diablo an RPG with its click fests, then this isn't too far a distant cousin.

Of course by this flawed logic you could also include Skylanders...

Until X or others come out, I would recommend Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate certainly. Though more of an Action-RPG, it's quite fun.

Pier Solar is a 16 bit RPG coming out in April, apparently. Another game called Child of Light (turn based RPG) comes out at the end of the month. Then there's X.

Not to mention, GBA games launch tomorrow on the U's virtual console. Maybe nothing for you right now, but who knows later down the road.

So basically, yes, there's pretty much nothing in terms of RPG out right now. Fortunately, it seems like things will be getting better this year. Overall too, not just basing it around one genre of games.

Not quite an RPG, but monster hunter is probably the closest so far. I've got about 40 hours in and feel like I have went no where. LOVE getting enough resources for my next upgrade!

Yeah, RPGs seem like they're gonna be in short supply this gen, especially JRPGs, for the foreseeable future. I'm sure we'll get a decent number of WRPGs (Fallout, Elder Scrolls series) that'll are gonna be great and I know there will be JRPGs (FFs, Tales), but nothing revealed so far has me all that interested... but shit son, X is gonna be off the hook. I have no interest in the Wii U but as soon as Nintendo announces a X Wii U bundle (you know they will), I'm getting on the bandwagon. And I'll be buying Earthbound as soon as I get a Wii U as well... I would buy EB right now if I could... fucking Nintendo, make SNES games on the 3DS happen!

Hell, the PS4/X1 front is looking desolate and questionable at best for JRPGs. The KH series is such a confusing mess (I'm pretty sure even Sora doesn't WTF is going on anymore) and I don't trust SE to ever delivery a FF game that's just good. And I mean just good, I'm not even saying they need to match the SNES/PS1 days.

Child of Light s fantastic! There's a semi-tactical eShop game called squid something or other.
Isn't there a Paper Mario game too?

I've had a Wii U for about a week now and just love the thing.

Thing about that is, Child of Light is on everything (although I'm tempted to go for the Wii U) version, the squids game is a mobile port (does look pretty darn neat though)...

And there is no Paper Mario game. :( I would be happy if we could just get the GameCube Paper Mario on Wii U or 3DS. (The original N64 Paper Mario is on the Wii eShop but not the Wii U eShop.)
