You can tell Polygon doesn't get presents from sony in the mail. Games like Ground Zeros used to be called something else. DEMO'S. Anyone who pays anything more than 1.99 for this should be embarrassed. I want to play this. But I'm not paying for a game that will take longer to download than play.

Well considering the game came out for more than just playstation your first statement is invalid.

Is the game a glorified demo ? Yes and no if you just run through the entire game then yes it is. If you play side missions and try to locate all badges/ collectables then you are looking at 3-4 hrs.

I look at it this way when ZOE came out with the MGS2 demo I put in close to 30hrs into it and maybe 10 into ZOE. I payed 60$ for it. With ground zeroes I have put in close to 20hrs and payed half that. I still have to play on hard.

In my opinion the people who are upset are the ones who rush through games instead of playing through them to get everything/do everything. It also doesn't help that second son around the corner.

While the pricing scheme is bad, it's no more ridiculous than any of the "glorified demo" bitching that's been going on. If anything, it's more of an overpriced PSN/XBLA game than a demo. I paid fifteen dollars for Journey the day it was released, finished it in about 2 hours, and was very satisfied with my purchase, as were many others. Now, the price on PS4/Xbone, that's some bullshit. This should be no more than twenty anywhere and even then, fifteen would be a more suitable price, but that does not justify the obscene amount of hyperbole being spewed forth across the internet.

As for the extent to which many game reviews include pricing into the final scores, well, that is one hell of a slippery slope. However, given the state of games media these days, it's not like things can get all that much worse.

If you like that, I've got a shitload of old OXM and OPM discs for you. They'll be $30 ea AND they even come with more than one demo. Sweet, I know. I take Paypal or Amazon GC.
I don't want your old stuff and I didn't paid $30 for it. I am playing an all new game for $0. Good luck with your shitload of old stuff though.

Im never spending a dime on this game, I read that it can be completed in ten minutes. It should have been a free demo, no way Im supporting this type of foolery.

how bout $60 for a game with no single player. LOLZ
how bout $60 for a game with no multiplayer. LOLZ

See how that works?

I have Ground Zeroes but I'm not ready to play it yet. I agree that I am contributing to the problem of paying money for demos (but not paying $60 for a multiplayer-only title that has already fallen off of the Twitch charts after a week) but I'm a fan of Metal Gear Solid. We just have a love for everything Kojima-san.

Polygon is a joke but you have to remember this is a game on 4 platforms. They get a pass here, though I never can resist taking shots at Arthur Gies.

see it doesnt work, because games have been like that for over 3 decades

I can understand why people feel the way they do. I guess I am just a big enough MGS fan, have limited enough gaming time that no game can be considered too short and am just in general a big enough idiot that none of this bothers me.

I picked it up for PS3 and will be again for PS4 when I finally pick up one of those soon. I would get it for Vita too if they released it on that.

If I could make sweet love to you I would sadly I hate the Yankees so I can not.

Yeah people mentioned that it could be beaten in 10 minutes too but that is a speed run. Ocarina of Time can be beaten in under 20 minutes in a speed run as well too. You think the average gamer playing for the first time can accomplish this? You can only accomplish this by beating the game at least once or more and knowing what is the shortest path to take right away.

yeah because call of duty ghost campaign is worth 60 bucks :/ I could agree with that argument if fps campaigns have been good over the years. in my opinion the last good campaign was mw2 and i would have loved to see one in titanfall seeing those guys made titanfall. Companys know online play is all people mostly care about which is why that stuff is talked abut before release.

you judge a game on a website that has the most views for games like league of legends,dota2,w of warcraft, dumb twitch plays pokemon as their highest viewed game?

I think you missed his point. If I am going to pay full $60 I want a full experience with all the bell's and whistles. I prefer single player over Multiplayer so a game that has just single player is still worth it for me. But a just multiplayer game isn't worth it to a lot of gamers. But there definitely is a niche of gamers who only play online. Point is you should hit all types of gamers and provide a wide array of modes. Gears was a great example of that with single player that was awesome, good online, and awesome Horde mode for multiplayer and local multiplayer. It had everything. That type of game is worth a full $60. But with the crowd that likes singleplayer, Titanfall is $60 for something I don't like.

yeah it sucks it has no kind of offline or even private lobby. I do see why that stuff is not in it seeing it was org planned to be pc only game. i really think EA had tons of say what happend about that game and we know how much ea loves drm crap.

Was hoping to just Redbox it, but I see they still don't have PS4 or X1 games around me (do they anywhere?).  They just have the PS3 and 360 versions.

I look at it a few of ways for buying this prologue for me. First, I'm a big metal gear fan so I have been waiting to play this.

Second, I'm a family man so gaming time is short sometimes.

Third, I beat the game in about an 1 1/2
I didn't find any of the patches only unlocked a few things. So I have to replay it a few times to get the most out of it.

Lastly, I'm a CAG so I never play full retail for any game physical or digital.

I bought this on ps4(digitally) using some of my psn cards that I have gotten discounted or for xmas/bdays. So I would estimate I got it for 20-25 at most.

To me it was worth it and I can't wait for the phantom pain.

I want to buy this game for ps4 at best buy bug no stores around me have any in stock and it's not available for shipping. :whistle2:(

That's what I was hoping to do too, but it seems like they have yet to add PS4 games to their selection.

Another option is to buy it and trade it back into Amazon. Their trade-in is currently $11.55, so you'd only be out $18.44. Personally, I'm just waiting. The used value on this game is just destined to tank or be like $5 on some PS+ sale. Besides, inFamous is coming out this week, so for me they couldn't have picked a worse time.

ps4/xbone games are in select markets for redbox. I don't think the install base is big enough for redbox to spend all the money needed on next gen games for it to be worth while for them.

Seemed to me that Xbox owners were salivating at the opportunity to go on twitch to showcase their big console exclusive on there from what I read on other message boards.

The only PS4 games Redbox currently carries, no matter location and if they are in stock, Are Assasins Creed, NBA 2k14, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Killzone, and Knack... no Metal Gear at all... I hope it comes eventually so I can try it out...

Bestbuy gives 18 in trade in

I like polygon. The question is... Is it worth 30$ to you? If so buy it. I'm betting on a sony pre order giving me GZ for free closer to MGPP launch. And I'm fine with that

Paid $30 (about 15 of which was in trade-in, but regardless) for ~6-7 hours of next-gen (ps4) metal gear utilizing a new engine and showing off what they're working on.

I understand why people are skeptical, and yes, you can technically beat the main mission in under 20 minutes, but that's not the point of the game. Plus, there are 5 other missions, one of which is hidden until you find 9 patches. I'm probably not going to play anymore because of infamous but I was still finding new weapons and ways to infiltrate/takedown enemies.

I get the hate, since all the missions occur on the same map, but IMO, this was worth the money. I'll probably get half of it back when I get rid of it (lowball or trading it in). Lastly, would you rather have NOTHING until 2015 when Phantom Pain comes out or be able to sample the engine and get a glimpse at what they're doing?

(FWIW I enjoy metal game games but am by no means a big fan, so don't think I'm biased because of an obsession over MGS)

Played the game! It was awesome!!! 1st play through took me around 3 hours without any guide or videos. When i finish the main mission, i watched a speedrun and what do you know, most of the things i did during my 1st playthrough was somehow how people do it too. I was happy. Tried doing my 1st speedrun tonight and clocked in at 26mins with an A rank! Have to try again tom. I tried. Grrr!

Beat it early today. Took a good 1 hour and 45 minutes for the main mission. There are other "side quests" to 100% the game, so it'll add a little more replay ability to the game. Also, I am gameflying the game, so price wise isn't really bothering me right now.

This game is hard, but mostly me just haven't figured out all the buttons yet. Especially the side mission where you gotta "get rid of" the 2 guys to complete.

Got around to playing this last night.  Whoa.  I was expecting it to be short and keeping my expectations low, but it blew my mind how short it actually was.  I took what seemed like three/four times longer than I should have, as I was taking breaks and messing up frequently (and trying to go at a slow pace to stretch the game out), but it was still over in 89 minutes.  If I'd actually been good/average at the game, it would've been over in 30-45 minutes... or 10-15 minutes skipping cutscenes.  I'm glad I didn't buy a PS4 for it like I was originally planning to do.

On the bright side, it's good to see they included Japanese support and a few bonus modes.

Got this as the only game in my gamefly q, and not even sure I want to mess with it that way even.

Wonder why its not in redbox?

ps4 or ps3? i know in my area no redbox's even have next gen games.
You actually said something correct and of relevance. I'm impressed.

On the redbox site it only lists a very small list of ps4 games with the most current being second son and thief, MGS:GS aint even listed at all.

PS3. I didn't mind picking it up even though I have a PS4 since it only costs me a few bucks. I'm sure I'll replay it when I buy Phantom Pain on the PS4 since it will probably be bundled in.

As for other PS4 games, I tried searching Infamous across the country and no one seems to have it.

I just rented Infamous Second Son at a Redbox in Denver, there were three kiosks with it in my area! Ground Zero is also available on both 360 and PS3 but no PS4. I thought about playing it if it was on PS4...

Yeah I recommended to rent it or wait for a price drop if you are just getting this solely for the story part. Most of the stuff that happened  in the game has already been revealed by the E3 trailer.

If your a Metal Gear fan the side ops mission is just like the Peace Walker mission but longer and with more variety.
