PS4 Back @ BestBuy

People still having trouble finding these? All my nearby stores have them in stock. (target, gamestop, bestbuy, walmart, etc.) In stock on Amazon as well.

I hear you. It was not until last weekend that I finally started to see these in stores and now they seem everywhere, although still in small qty. Heck Amazon been in stock for the past two weeks straight.

 
I had to make a return and saw 6 being bought through in store pickup. Meanwhile, there are still xbones sitting on display buy the front of the store that have been there for awhile now
 
I'm trying to hold out for a bundle with Infamous packed in similar the XBox One Titanfall bundle. Here's hoping.

Most large cities on the East Coast didn't have these in stock until very recently. If you lived on the West Coast or some small town you could probably find them no problem. Looking at various zip codes around the country on Target and Best Buy, some places are still sold out but they're trickling in and will be fully stocked soon. I'm thinking the "temporary" price drop of the Xbox One is hurting PS4 sales.

I live on the East Coast, and to be honest, I still think the PS4 is kicking the One's ass in sales even with the price drop. And this is coming from someone who prefers Xbox, although I love both consoles.

 
Yeah they're pretty commonly in stock in the Atlanta area the past couple of weeks. Only saw a couple before then though.

They're getting more stock over here now that the Japanese launch is fine, and they're past the backlog from the Chinese New Year Holliday halting production.

So if I look at say, NYC I still see 1 best buy with no inventory on the first page, some near DC as well. For example, zip code 20004 you can see 3 stores with no inventory (you have to hit "more stores"). 3 stores in the 10453 area as well (again hit "more stores" button). I looked at a bunch of cities 2 weeks ago and many places had zero inventory but now it's only a handful of stores here and there. It's definitely not fully stocked yet but it won't be long now. I'm not going to bother looking up and down the East Coast as I think it's safe to assume full stock or a few stores here and there with no inventory depending on location.

That probably won't happen, and if it does it won't be for a while- the reason Microsoft did it was to boost sales; so far Sony has no reason to offer a bundle to boost sales.

I think we'll see a bundle on Black Friday. If they have deals on BF I'll probably buy in. I'd like to wait for a redesign but I'll run out of backlog before that as I've sold most of my games off that I decided I bought for no reason and now I only buy the games I want to play right away. I don't have a "collection" any longer really. The problem with slim is that those usually come out in year 3 or so. Then of course they'll charge you MSRP on that for another year. So you'll be waiting till year 4 or 5 to get a really good deal on a slim. I'd like to play PS4 before that.

GCU clearly states hardware is excluded. They seem slack on that as it is as I've seen one or two cases where controller bundles have slipped through. Expecting benefits for a console purchase is a bit much.

As for me, I'm gonna wait on a great deal or a LE console (or both). My backlog is so big I many not even finish until PS5 anyways :cry:

Well yeah, one has been produced to keep stores stocked, the other has been intentionally shipped in small quantities as a result of having some production troubles (not saying flawed, just not able to crank them out as quickly as Microsoft has been) and of course intentionally limiting stock to "drive demand."

I see this a lot but not even sure how it could be. Most stores have been only getting like 5-10 units every month and a half since November. Even with a stronger launch week that has to have hurt Sony's numbers in the long run.

They did better than that with the 5x promo could've bought a GC & waited for stock replenishment. $40 in credit for waiting or just reduce the PS4 to $360.

Sony said there`d be a stock influx in March & these been in stock at BB since 3/18

I'll tell you how it can be. Most stores here are selling through those 5-10 PS4 units immediately.... while they aren't even selling 5 X1's a month (until this price drop---let's call it what it is now). I have a Walmart and a Target nearby that still have a Day One edition in the case.

I would wager that many of the larger retailers here still had X1 consoles from launch week.

Good to see they're selling now... or at least much better.

 
Yeah, I doubt we'll get  Second Son bundle.  They did one in Europe, but not here.  I could see some kind of bundle for the Holidays if sales are starting to slow down.

But as long as PS4 stock is selling out pretty quickly in most stores, they have no reason to bundle anything as they can obviously make more selling the console and game separately.  X1 stock was sitting on shelves so they had to tinker with bundles and price drops/sales to get it moving again and not let the PS4 build up too big a lead.

I guess Sony could really double down in trying to maintain and grow that lead with a bundle even it its still selling well. But it won't make since while there still selling them as fast as they can make them as they obviously can't improve on that sales pace.

I know people on CAG would rather have physical copies versus digital but if I was Sony instead of doing a Second Son bundle around the holidays I would do a 1 year PS+ bundle and include Second Son as a free game. The numbers show people are going to buy their console at $400 so now they just need to try and get PS+ subscriptions up. Maybe throw a coupon in for $50/$100 off a vita with a PS4 purchase.

I sure as hell could be wrong but I don't see the incentive on Sony's end for doing any type of Amazing bundle for the Holidays unless MS decides to get hyperagressive and put out a $400 console

Conspiracy theory FTL. They've produced 50% more consoles than MS. Your theory does not hold up. 6 million vs 4 million.

I think they'll do one because the competition will. They don't want to be "xbox one'd" by having the more expensive product. I'm pretty sure that BF will have a 399.99 Xbox One bundled with a game. It's hard to imagine Sony not trying to compete. While they might be selling really well, most people are going to buy one or the other and that BF decision could make a huge difference to them.

In the past they've always given out the physical disc in the cardboard sleeves. That's what I'd expect. Sony seems to be much friendlier to people that don't connect their console to the Internet that MS is.

I mean really!? They are intentionally holding back stock? Blaster just completely made you look like an idiot and a homer. How are they limiting stock when they have sold so many more than Xbox. Not to mention it would only be in Sony's best interest to get the stock out there so they can sell even more. They have not had production issues, they have had demand issues where they greatly under estimated the demand they would see for them.

 
I can guarantee you that availability is increasing rapidly.

Know how I know?  Because I've started to have targeted PS4 console ads appear on my computer.

If they were still flying off shelves faster than Sony could produce them, there would be no reason for Sony, or their retail partners for that matter, to spend money on that kind of advertising.

Same here which is why I think the "supply constrained until after summer" quote is complete hyperbole. I've seen PS4's everywhere in stock. Even where I work our shipments of PS4's are lasting for days... they are selling at a greater rate than the X1's but not close to looking like a constrained supply.

I definitely think they'll be everywhere soon. This is another reason the idea that they're artificially constraining supply makes no sense. You don't do that when you're $100 less than the competition, you sell as much as you can because the competitor will lower their price and when that happens your advantage is gone. I'm convinced Xbox One sales are up because of the price drop + game packin. I'm also convinced we'll see deals for PS4 this coming holiday season with at least a pack in game. They'll have to do it to compete just like MS has had to change their price and stick a free game in the box.

Yeah it's hard to believe but it really is hard to find one. I was shocked my BB had them in stock but no rush to get one right now.

 
Yeah, they aren't limiting stock.  Shipments were just reduced to the west for a a couple of months due to the Japanese launch, and Chinese factories shutting down a couple of weeks for the Chinese New Year.

Now that those are over, and the demand in Japan wasn't super high (they're bigger on portables over there), more stock is coming to the west and they are getting easier and easier to find.

I don't see that changing anytime soon as there aren't any system seller type games after Infamous until the fall when Destiny (exclusive DLC), The Order etc. start rolling out.

 
First time I've seen it at stock at my local BB, GS has had them in stock for a while. Walmart and target on occasion, but pass. Might pick one up.

Except that the free game is an online only game that requires an xbox live subscription to play... so smart move on MS part... forces people to get an xbox live subscription.

The other bundle is giving Forza away. I don't think they are giving Titanfall away with plans to recoup on Gold subs. Most of their interested customers probably already have subs on the 360.
 
if you live outside the major cites like SF, DC, NYC where income is low and jobless is high.  Yes you'll find ps4's easily in Mississippi.

I'm seeing them pretty regularly in Atlanta, both intown stores, and suburban stores.

Places like Costco that people don't think to check seem to be the easiest option for finding them (assuming you have a membership of course). But I've seen them at Target and Best Buy lately.

They're not anywhere near as plentiful as X1s, and I only started seeing them recently (past couple of weeks) where as X1s have been on shelves all the time since January around here.

 
maybe but DC has been sold out everywhere, we would get spurts of inventory.  Usually the time after amazon would get them in stock, they're not easy to find.  They're back in stock again.  Sony said their capability to produce is 1 million a month, thats some high numbers.  PS4 has sold over 6mil now so you can guess why they're having issues.  I'm sure it'll be easier to find soon.

It's interesting because more often then not people will say "well they're everywhere ______" and then someone will run inventory checkers for Target, BB, GS in that area and it will show "Not/Out of Stock or Limited Availability" and then that same poster will go on a rant about how the inventory checker for those stores aren't reliable.

I have never had a problem with an inventory checker showing "no stock" and the store actually had stock outside of the few exceptions on media that Best Buy has where if it has less then three it shows OOS for store pick-up.

It is more common for a store to show stock and not actually have the item.

It would be very rare for an entire region to have stock yet inventory checkers show no stock like people used to claim.

And no one, especially me is trying to claim this still are or will continue to be hard to find. But the people who claimed that they have been easy to find in their area, since launch, are trolling hard or live in a retirement community.

I think that`s backwards they`re better off doing a bundle with the physical games & then the person will have to get PS+ anyways. Bundling a popular game pads the overall sales of that game & if there`s worthwhile DLC and/or other games in the series they could get a franchise fan. 100% chance Sony will have game bundles during the holiday`s that is Sony`s MO plus they usually bundle vs doing a price cut, on the front of the bundles they show the "savings" vs buying separately.

I'm just speaking from my various experiences working at Target and from my own personal shopping elsewhere. I wasn't implying that they were easy to find since launch, in fact they weren't easy to find up until the last few weeks in my experiences. I just know that there are many things that can skew an inventory checker which is why I made that original comment.

I don't see much point to waiting for a PS4 redesign personally. The system is already pretty small. This isn't like the original PS3 that needed some slimming down.

I'd love to see some bundles, though if it still keeps selling well, I wonder if we'll see any before the holiday deals, which is still a good 7-8 months away. Think I may end up settling with Amazon and the deal of no sales tax on a $400 purchase.
