I finally get it out of storage into my new apartment. Set everything up. And this happens.

When I start the system it freezes on the xml menu or whatever it is called. I booted it in safe mode and restored it. Tried again and it still freezes.

I have a freaking 500gb HD in this SOB. Do you think it is fried? I suppose I could format it, but jesus christ redownloading everything is going to make my eyes bleed.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Bueller?

You left out some info that might help:

- What model is it? Far, slim, super slim?
- When did you buy it and how many hours (approx) did you play it?
- Did you use compressed air to blow out the dust?
- Did you tend to leave it in standby mode when using it, or just shut it down?
- When you turn it on, do you notice loud fan noise and/or a lot of heat coming out?
- Did you try plugging it into different outlets? Is it on a surge protector or directly in the wall outlet?
- When you used it in the past, did it have good ventilation? Or was it in an enclosed entertainment center?

Kind of a bottom line, if it had heavy use over the years, your best bet is to just bite the bullet and pick up a new one. I got a backup Slim 160gb in mint condition from Cowboom (with controller and cables) for $99 plus tax/shipping, so keep your eye out for deals like that, or just get a new one (regular slim if you can find one).

Duuuurrrrr.

Yeah, I tried a bunch of shit and then called Sony. Basically I had to reformat my HD.

Thanks for the heads up. I forgot to check that I even posted this. Ugh.

I've literally been redownloading shit since then. Where my room is compared to the modem, I can't even hard wire it in. I'm just going to be in download hell for the rest of my life. That and reinstalling game hell. Oh hell.

Sorry to hear that, but at least your hardware is working.

On a related note, every time I see your username, I think it really should be "superleaf420", lol.
