Hey guys,

Blu-Rays and DVDs tend to pop up on sale as the Deal of the Day every now and then at Best Buy. Instead of making a separate thread everytime a movie or TV Series is featured as the DotD, I decided to just consolidate them all into one thread. I will always submit a lower price to Amazon for any DotD featured here, I recommend those people who have Amazon credit or prefer buying from Amazon do the same.

Deal of the Day for June 20th, 2015.

Select Movies on Bluray starting at $19.99.

Tempted by the Back to the Future trilogy for $30 on Blu and if I was willing to spend so much I'd be interested in the Stargate Atlantis complete series for $68 as well for today's sale.

Thread updated with today's DotD, should have probably bumped it a tad earlier.

Bunch of Star Wars stuff on sale today.  Sow what all is the difference between "The Complete Saga" and the individual trilogies?  From the looks of it the saga has all the movies on separate disc and some bonus stuff?

Thanks for the heads up, been too busy watching recaps of surgeries all morning to check the DotD page. I'll update OP shortly.

It also has a really nice packaging IMO. Though some people dislike the prequels so they opt for OT. I just did a marathon a few days ago and saw all 6 movies in one day and honestly there are certainly issues with the prequels, but they are not as terrible as people make them out to be IMO. OT is certainly better, but the prequels are not a crime against humanity that some fans would like most to believe.

Agreed. In fact, I enjoyed Episode 3 more than I enjoyed Episode 6. But in the end, IV and V are still better than both of em by a long shot.

Anybody know which Lego Star Wars movie has Darth Maul in it?  I remember that one being really funny and Darth Maul cracked me up.

Edit: Nevermind.  Found it - The Empire Strikes Out

Is this an a good price for the complete saga? My brain is saying that the complete saga has been $50ish before but I cant pinpoint when.

It hasn't been $50 yet...but this deal is a rip off

just go with amazon UK if you are so inclined $20 less and better disc art!

Except of course that is a region B set and not a "no region" set...

I was really torn by the complete set on Blu Ray today, was in store looking at it and just couldn't make up my mind. Decided not to (the site had me thinking it was a slightly better deal with the MSRP of like $149 or whatever). In the end knowing this is really only $10 off I decided to hold out, it does look like a pretty solid little set and while I wish the original theatrical versions were on it, or that we'd finally get a proper transfer of the originals, I will totally wind up getting this in the $50-$60 range but for now I'll live.

Well I thought that was true for a second until the guys at Blu-Ray.com proved me wrong, apparently that's a typo on the amazon page it is in fact region free.

Read last few posts, there are even pictures to support the region free statement

Personally, with how much Amazon merges information for Star Wars blu ray releases I'd weary to take the chance but good information to have.

Damnit why cant they release a blu ray with the original theatrical cuts in them?

At least I picked up the dvds when they came out of the SE that had the extra disc with the theatrical cuts on them.

the Blu-Ray Complete Saga was $60 a couple months ago from both BB and Amazon, it will hit that price again if you're willing to wait a bit.

With really subpar transfer of the laserdisc of the originals since GL lies and says there are no better versions left after making the SE. We might get something official thats better now that Disney has them.

But fox still owns the original trilogy don't they?

Can we please spoiler the non-current/past DoTD items?  It makes reading the OP a bit of an issue with too much clutter.

Even the current dotd is too cluttered.

We dont need to know about special features, pictures of the covers, different price breakdowns and such. Just say what it is, the deals price and a link to it. Thats it because thats all we care about.

Great suggestion, I have gone ahead and updated the OP.

I most definitely agree with the cover picture, I stopped implementing the picture after the first DotD. I suppose the special features is also something that can definitely be cut out. As far as the price is concerned, I personally like comparing the Best Buy prices with those from Amazon to see which option is cheaper. The reason I setup all the different price breakdowns is so you guys can see them at a quick glance, but if you guys prefer just having the name, price, and link to the product then that is something that is very doable.

Thanks for the suggestion guys.

I for one don't mind the Amazon price being listed so I can compare the two quickly, but I agree on removing the special features listings.

But fox still owns the original trilogy don't they?
Despite The Walt Disney Company's 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm Ltd. and the release rights to all future Star Wars films, Fox still retrains original distribution rights to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope "in perpetuity" in all media worldwide. Fox also retains theatrical, nontheatrical, and home video rights worldwide for the franchise's five subsequent films through May 2020, at which time ownership will transfer to Disney. This complex relationship between Fox and Disney, particularly in regards to Fox's perpetual rights to Episode IV, creates an obstacle for any future boxed set comprising all nine films.[1]

From wookiepedia. Yea forgot about that bit, but since GL doesnt really have any say over it now, maybe fox will do the fans a solid and release the GOUT on blu ray. It'd sell a lot and make them a ton.

Does seem like a great opportunity for both companies to make a lot of money. Sooner or later it will happen. In the meantime I'm not in a deathly need to own them.

Beat me to it.

I have gone ahead and edited the OP with today's deal, thanks. I have also made the OP a Wiki since some days I am stuck in lab or the hospital all day and may not get a chance to check the DotD until I get home, so anyone is free to edit the OP and add in the DotD.
Thanks, but FYI, I'm pretty sure only the OP can update the thread title.

Basically...spend ~$35 to get all three seasons and the new movie for VM. Worth it.
Indeed. I bought these seasons at deepdiscount when they were $10 a set and thought that was a deal. Plan to pick up the movie ... debating whether to get it on blu ... hd has spoiled me.

Same. I got all three seasons recently brand new for $20 from BB thanks to a partial glitch on one of their coupons. I like consistency to have at least the same format across the entirety of the series...but since Blu's $5 more...it makes me wonder if I should jump or stick with dirt cheap DVD.

Updated OP with today's deal of the day, Explosive Action 4-Pack (DVD), Action 4-Pack (DVD), Action Comedy 4-Pack (DVD), Steve Austin Double Feature (DVD) - $9.99 each

That's a great price on the X-men & Wolverine box set.  Every X-men movie released on Blu so far in one collection?  I spent way more than $24.99 to get all six of those movies!  Though the version of The Wolverine included in this set is just the standard, 2D version (not 3D or the Unrated Unleashed Extended Super Awesome version), if anyone cares.

Went ahead and placed an in-store pickup order for the X-men & Wolverine box set. I already had the original trilogy on DVD, but I figure now is a good enough time to upgrade.

Yes, they did. Really.
Then post a link please, it would really help me out since Best Buy won't do site to store for the Quadrilogy and Amazon is much more convenient for me anyways. Because the prices it's showing me for the Trilogy/Quadrilogy blu ray sets are several dollars higher than the DOTD. For the same price, I'd obviously like the Quadrilogy, I already have 1st Class on Blu-Ray but I could give it away to a friend. But I'm about to give up and just settle for the Trilogy.

I got the 3D version. I haven't watched it in 3D yet because I wanted to see the extended version first. I'd seen the theatrical way back when it first came out in theaters and definately saw where they'd expanded on a couple of scenes, but I didn't notice anything extra in terms of violence. Maybe I just missed something? Either way, the expanded version certainly added to the plot.

Id get these in store at Best Buy to make sure you get the $8 ticket for XMen DOFP
That's a good point, I didn't think of that. I guess if Amazon doesn't update in the next hour I'll try a pickup with the movie money. I already got $8 from Predator 3D, but I suppose I can still give the 2nd coupon away.

Edit: No movie money :( I did check the end racks and whatnot, but there was nothing.
