Final Fantasy 11 360 New/Sealed, Best Little-Known Online Stores

CAGiversary!
Hello there, first time posting here.

First question, does anyone know of any small online stores or reputable merchants that aren't well known that you could inform me of. An example of a "small store" would be newegg (they aren't small but not a lot of people think to go there for videogames) or even smaller, "Fallout Games" in Phoenix. A merchant would be someone like this: Mario128 (http://mariio128.com/). I'd appreciate anyone who could give me a large list of them to check out. I'd prefer smaller game specialty shops that also have an online inventory to merchants, but either is fine.

Also, I'm on an intense hunt at the moment to find a new/sealed copy of Final Fantasy 11 Online: Ultimate Collection - Seeker's Edition for Xbox 360. In roman numerals that's "FFXI", Square's first MMO. The box art looks like this: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91Iq8UHUouL._SL1500_.jpg

I know what I'm looking for, so please don't give me any business about the PC version and how cheap it is, that's not what I'm looking for. I'm solely wanting this so I can start on earning the Xbox 360 Achievements for this game.

I don't want to pay the outrageous ebay prices where it's going for $80/100, I'm looking for under $50, preferrably around $40, I also want it new/sealed, not used (if I can avoid it). Square Enix has recently had the game for $20, it sold out very quickly so they bumped it up to $40 for their next run, it's currently sold out again and sold out almost everywhere at all official stores (amazon, best buy, toys r us, walmart, etc.)

So here is my question: Is there anyone who can find this game for me somewhere or from someone who is selling it for around $40 sealed? I live in Phoenix, Arizona, if you can find a local seller I'd appreciate it. But I am willing to buy online too.

I greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

Well, I have a copy of FFIX Vana'diel collection 2008, and I would let it go cheap. Not sealed, not the same version that you asked about but it has the same content I believe.

also, check gamedude. it is a store in CA but they have a online ordering option. lots of old stuff available there. good luck!

FYI, this version of FFXI has been out of print for several months. I actually picked up a few copies for $40 right when FFXIV came out - even at that time it was relatively hard to find for that price. This was not sold at Best Buy, Walmart, or Target - I don't even think Gamestop carried it. From what I remember, it was online dealers only and very few at that.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a copy for $40, but I doubt you'll have any success outside of a surprise pawn/thrift find. With FFXIV's relaunch being pretty successful, it's doubtful SE will ever print any more copies of this. I'd recommend picking up the previous Ultimate Collection used along with the Seekers expansion disc. That would probably be your cheapest route.

Dang, I can't believe I just missed out on the $40 (46 w/shipping) offer being sold by Mario128. I waited a day to decide and it was POOF, gone. :( I signed up to get an email when he gets another, hopefully that will happen or my email will convince him to find it again to sell it to me.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion on the cheaper route, I've seen several of the 2008 set and the self-contained expansion for 360, but I really had my eyes on the complete collection set. No way I'll pay anywhere close to $100 for it though. So I just may have to do what you suggested.

Thanks for both replies. I'll probably keep looking, I'm desperate but not THAT desperate. Although I'd like to get work on the Achievements sooner rather than later, as you have no idea when Microsoft will stop supporting the 360. Even though they've pledged support until 2015/16 I believe.

Btw does anyone know if the PS2 version still works online? I'm pretty positive it does, but can any of you confirm? I saw a guy who had multiple copies of the PS2 version and hdd complete that he was selling for $40. The only real reason I want the 360 version is for the Achievements, but I also think it would make a cool collectable and I'm sure the PS2 version will become pretty rare. It'd also be fun to play it just for kicks. I never did play any PS2 games online. :p

If your main goal is achievements and not necessarily the sealed game disc itself, there is an easier solution.

Unlike FFXIV, a complete collection key from the PC will activate and play on the 360 copy just fine. From there, any combination of the following USED will get you the proper installation discs to play all content:

FFXI Aht Urghan Collection + WOTG Single + SOA Single

FFXI 2008 Collection + SOA Single

FFXI Ultimate Abyssea Collection + SOA Single

FFXI Ultimate Seekers Edition

On that note, if you are already playing on PC and JUST want to unlock the achievements you earned, you can get a version without seekers and just log in to unlock them at the Title NPC in Port Jeuno.

Sweet! Thanks a lot man that's very helpful. I didn't know you could play on the PC and then have the Achievements unlock by switching to the 360. Even so I'd rather start and play the entire time on 360 instead of on PC. I'm not much of a PC gamer, I prefer console. I'd like to be able to say I started on 360 and got all of my Achievements on 360.

Btw, do you know if each one of the Xbox 360 games has it's own Achievements associated with it? Could you theoretically get multiples of the same Achievements by using the different SKU versions that have been released for 360? Or once you log in is it all the same?

Thanks for the help I appreciate it!

Heh, I haven't been following the price of this game. I was pondering buying a copy for collector's sake. I'm very reluctant to play MMOs on my TV since FFXIV burned in on my new plasma :(

Guess I should have bought it earlier, when I had the chance.

Yeah I too am thinking of trying to get another one sealed for collector's sake. :p Now that I know how rare it is, I'm wondering if I do get this version I want, if I should even open it at all lol

I don't know that I'd keep mine sealed, but I don't know that I'd play it much. I'm really salty that I burned in my plasma playing FF:XIV. I'm scared to play any other MMOs because of the amount of static images involved with their interface.

I think I caused burn in because I turned the contrast up really high and played for a long time during the break in period. I'm fairly certain my TV won't get anymore permanent burn in, but I'm still scared to play MMOs on it.

The SKU of the game doesn't affect the achievements. Good luck getting the achievements though some of them will be a challenge just because of how old the game is. I played FFXI for several years and if you are trying to get all the achievements by only playing the 360 version you are going to have a VERY bad time. The 360 version has frequent crashes and the system is just not good at handling some areas in the game. The PS2 version is even worse. Just get it on PC and fulfill the requirements for the achievements and then log onto the 360 version and "unlock" them by talking to a bard NPC.
