Is Naughty Dog the new EA?

So many departures. Directors writers and now actors. Leaving such a great franchise. Whats going on?
I doubt it. There is certainly a shift in direction at the top but I think Naughty Dog will continue to create great games. Talented people leave all the time for greener pastures. Look at any company and you'll see that very talented employees will leave be it for more money, upward mobility, better work environment etc. Change is part of life.

No, something is.going on there that is making these people leave. They are not getting fired per se but they are not just quitting either.

EA is both a publisher and houses multiple development studios.  They also have their own marketing and distributing divisions.

Naughty Dog is only one studio and is owned by Sony.

Apples and oranges.

well until ND starts releasing broken games i would say no. your seeing people leave because they already made 3 uncharted games and want to try something new which i understand, if i made games and i already spent almost 10 years of just working on uncharted games id want to try something new.

Given how much of a beating EA took in terms of PR and losing talent, not to mention the numerous claims of unhappy employees, I'm guessing EA probably offered all of them more money to come work for them. I highly doubt anyone would want to go work for EA unless they had no other option or EA made a hell of an offer.

In the real world, loyalty rarely means anything for most people so when a better opportunity comes along, you take it.

Ea and naughty dog have absolutely nothing at all in common even in the slightest.

But of course people will leave them. Simply because look at their constant success with every game they make. Last of us won a metric shit ton of praise and sales so of course other developers want those people on board and willing to pay them big bucks to have them on their team in hopes they will bring them success also.

People leave all the time in this industry naughty dog is so high profile that people pay attention to them more.

I get what you are trying to say and normally this would be a worry for a lot of companies.  ND has lost members in the past and they consistently show that they produce cream of the crop games.

For example with the Last of Us, being a new IP and using a zombie game premise I didn't think the game could live up to Uncharted's standards.  I was blown away that they actually surpassed their previous games in terms of overall quality and narrative.  After that experience (with a game genre I'm not too big of a fan of) I have immense faith in the company.  To this day I've enjoyed all of the ND games I have played.

You want to know why people are leaving? Because game development sucks, plain and simple. There's long hours, ridiculous deadlines and you don't get paid much. Developers are a hard group to please in general. It's hard to keep us interested for more than a few weeks, let alone a few years. Combine that with the fact that game development is incredibly difficult (especially with ND's reputation), it's no big mystery that people are leaving.

In other words, they're leaving for the same reason anybody would leave any job: they want a better job with fewer hours and more pay.
