Stepped into my local BB in Santana Row in West San Jose, CA and found that they had wrongly priced the version of the game WITH balance board for 49.99. This is the one that comes with the game, board, and fit meter. Keep in mind it was wrongly priced, and they instantly pulled it from the shelves to reprice it. Luckily I got it for the price they advertised it for :D/  Good luck!

Eh, depends how much you do fitness excercises. If you're someone like me, who doesn't have time for going to the gym and can't find the willpower to work out at home because it's so boring, this game is perfect for you.

The greatest benefit this game brings to the table is making excercise fun. And don't make the same mistake I did, thinking they were all easy excercises. That advanced luge and 4 mile run will make a believer out of anyone, unless you're some ripped P90X fanatic who does one arm hand stand push ups for giggles and laughs

no I mean the game is good and useful I am not denying that,  it just overpriced when you figure the wii u game is pretty much almost exactly like the old wii game? almost same exact exercises and everything. Therefore why pay there high price when there cheaper alternative to the same exact game available

Not that I don't agree with you now that I have both games but lets do math:
$15 board at GameStop
$10 Wii Fit Plus at GameStop
$30 green fit meter from play-Asia plus shipping

So basically you pay $5 less for all new items. And even if you just buy the black fit meter sold separately for $20, it's just $5 more.

And sure, maybe you could find a decent deal on ebay for less than that but this is still a better deal for extra games & new stuff. Chances are you'll end up paying more with shipping on ebay anyway.
The real MSRP is legitimately ridiculous, but for $50 it's great.

Huh? Wii Fit U is really good. Am I missing something?

Wii Fit U has it's moments (I certainly have fun doing the dances, just wish there was more variety).  But, in terms of a workout, Wii Fit U is not good.... it's abysmal.  A literal walk in the park is better exercise.  Even that broken-ass piece of shit inaccurate as hell pedometer can still attest to that.  Then of course there are other flaws, like those exercises that have you run in place (any intern in the medical field can tell you that, for 99% of the people out there, running in place does more harm than good, a debate that I remember from way back when I was a teen lol) and the fact that it pressures you to weigh yourself every day and chastises you for an increase over 3 pounds (again, anybody in the fitness field will tell you weight fluctuates way more than the 2 lbs the game says for tons of reasons, and weighing yourself more than once a week paints an inaccurate picture).

As far as party games go it's certainly interesting, and even if it is telling you to weigh yourself every day and doesn't give you the option to take weekly averages or anything like that, it's still a somewhat convienent tool to keep track of your progress.  But let's not pretend it's something it's not.  It's not an effective excercise tool, not in any real sense of the word.  I honestly wouldn't even call it an effective supplement, not unless you have some physical problems that prevent you from doing real exercises anyways.  Of course any sort of movement will help you lose weight if you do it long enough, but when a simple walk is more efficient then, IMO, they shouldn't be able to legally call it exercise lol.

Unfit people wanting a reason to work out.

Again, I don't think anybody who knows what they are talking about will call Wii Fit U a workout.  Quite the contrary, it's mocked quite a bit at the local gym as a tool for housewives and fatties to delude themselves.

I would argue running in general is pretty bad for you on most surfaces. That is it will destroy your joints most notably your knees. I mean I like running and I'd rather put some wear on my knees than have an unhealthy heart.

You're right about a change in weight from 2 to 3 lbs on a single day. People with mass can fluctuate up to 10 lbs on water weight alone. You shouldn't really focus on numbers in general though unless you're incredibly heavy.

All in all wii u fit is garbage. If it helps people more power to them but there's better more efficient and effective ways of exercising. Exercise that will give you real benefits and real world functionality and application as well.

Yeah I know firsthand about the running problems, it's done a number on my knees and is really hard to try to recuperate from.  That's what I was getting at with the jogging in place nonsense.  You are still doing the same damage to your joints and knees, but aren't getting nearly the benefit you'd get from actually jogging.

Either way, I'd certainly recommend a FitBit and a few weights over Wii Fit U anyday lol.  The only real advantage WFU has is price, and it doesn't even have that at MSRP lol.

I know I got the complete original Wii Fit package at Gamestop this past November during black friday weekend for $11.xx (B2G1 free week) and it had everything (the huge box, balance board, Wii Fit complete + all paperwork including CN registration codes and extra feet for the board).

I had already downloaded the free trial version as well. I finally got around to getting a meter last month for $10 and registered it, unlocking the full permanent version. Great deal, IMO for under $25! LOL. I REALLY like Scuba Search! xD.

I don't mean to sound too harsh, Wii Fit can be fun when the Balance Board reads your movements properly.  I guess it depends on what you want it for?

Is Wii Fit U gonna help you build muscles or lose weight?  Absolutely not, not unless you are seriously obese or devote insane amounts of time to it.  It's a very inefficient way to get into shape.  And there are free sites/programs/apps/ect that you can use to measure your weight loss progress better than WiiU if you don't mind entering data manually (personally I like the convenience of standing on the board for a second and having it recorded automatically, even if it lacks the option to take averages).  And the pedometer is horribly inaccurate as far as measuring your mileage, and even worse on altitudes and temperatures.  In short, it's horribly ineffective and pretty damn inaccurate.

But there is some fun to be had, and I can't think of another WORKING game that plays like this.  It's still just a minigame compilation, but if you avoid the broken crap (advanced obstacle course) it can be amusing for what it is.  Personally I think I hit the sweet spot at $35 ($15 for the balance board, $20 for the meter at launch).  Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't pay $50 for it, but I guess it depends on what you want?  If nothing else the dances are fun, which I know weren't in Wii Fit Plus.

Thanks for the input, I'm not seriously overweight nor was my goal to build muscle, just trying to stay healthy the "fun way" instead of just going outside and running lol. Yeah the meter is a bust for sure.  You can read the reviews on Amazon, just know that a lot of those people are reviewing the Wii Fit game itself and not the meter so you'll have to sift through some crap before you get to stuff about the meter.  Unfortunately I haven't found any site that actually reviewed the meter on it's own merits or compared it to any other pedometers out there.

To be fair though, yes the meter is absolute crap, and there's little point in it if it doesn't take accurate measurements, but it's (more or less) the cheapest one on the market too.  If you were really just interested in the meter, the cheapest one I think I could recommend would be a FitBit, but those start at $50 for just the basic meter.  Anyways good luck.

For one thing the Pokemeter wasn't measuring calories burned, mileage traveled, temp, altitude, ect.  It was a game that measured steps, nothing more.

Maybe the Wii Fit meter accurately counts steps, I've never tested that myself.  And frankly I don't give a rat's ass about my step count.  But it sure as hell isn't accurately measuring my mileage.  I don't take giant leaps or tiptoe when I walk/run either, I have a normal stride for a man my height.  So when I walk my 6 mile trail, then see that it's consistantly off by over half a mile when I upload the data, I know it's off.  Nothing else I use is anywhere close to that inaccurate.  The altitude readings are even worse than that, regularly jumping between 0 to -200 (or lower) and back again.  And of course seeing the meter say I've already burned 50 something calories before I even touch it on any given day is a major inaccuracy on it's part as well.

So yeah, it's completely inaccurate.  I'm sorry if that's not something you want to hear, but it is truth.  Go look on Amazon or even Gamefaqs, I'm hardly the only one having problems.  It's a PoS meter, end of story, and if you choose not to listen then that's all you.

What part of the fit meter is inaccurate?  I've always had it count my steps taken accurately, but I haven't been sure about the mileage that it says those steps were.

Either way, I've enjoyed it.  For what ever reason, putting on the fit meter motivates me to run and walk a little bit more to get more steps.

Like I just said, the mileage, altitude, and temperature readings are all very inaccurate, and of course that causes it to screw up my calorie values as well.

I personally find that wii fit u is a huge improvement over Wii fit. Wii fit had almost nothing to do on it and required you to unlock things to get to most of the stuff. But wii fit u has a huge variety of things to do. I paid $5 for a balance board and $20 for the meter unlock so I am in for only $25 on this and I have found it to be a good value. Yeah for $100, definitely overpriced though, the original wii fit was even more overpriced since it had less to do. I am not sure what the problem with the fit meter is, mine doesn't say I burned 50 calories before I even touch it... Keep in mind this is just one person dissing the meter, I have no way of proving its accurate but can anyone actually prove with scientific evidence that this meter is as horribly innaccurate as this person says it is.....

Please read what I've written before you criticize me.  As I've said before, it's not just "one person".  Plenty of user reviews and forums have not only the same complaints, but additional stuff that I haven't even mentioned (like an insanely short battery life).  Even threads on this site have discussed it before.

Why do you feel the need to bullshit us? I don't know how much WF+ is at Gamestop, but last time I was there the original Wii Fit was $1, or $15
with the balance board (my local store threw it in for free when I bought the board to take advantage of the Wii Fit U demo). And everyone here knows the meter's MSRP is $20, and even then it's been on sale several times now (hell it's a bit over $17 on Amazon RIGHT NOW), so who the Fuck is gonna pay $30 on Play Asia? Seriously, why even mention that? Even so. without WFU it's worthless (hell it's worthless with WFU, I haven't seen a device this inaccurate in years).

Here's what you forgot from the last time you complained about the meter:
You have the $20 crap meter. Not the one that came with the game, which is not crap. In order to not have a crap meter, you have to get the one with the game. I have both meters. And the black one is shit compared to green one. So why pay $17 for a crap meter, when you can get the good one bundled with the game?
So mentioning the green one is very relevant, because if you want a working one, there is no point in buying the black one.

Now about the $1 Wii fit. I don't own it, but I know it lacks around 20 games the plus has & several features that both the u & plus have. So even if it's $1, for $8 more you get much more. Which is why I didn't even mention it. At this point, the original wii fit seems pointless to buy over the plus imo. No matter how cheap it is (unless it's free with a $15 board).
As for it coming with the board, I don't see why you'd mention that when none of my GameStop's offer this deal (and I've recently bought the board from one, & went to four previous ones looking for it). That's highly YMMV. So not exactly easy to get like this bundle.

It's not bullshit, it's thinking every comparison through. Without even mentioning the fact that most of the time if you buy this board used, you won't get the feet that come with it & will have to pay $3-$5 for each on ebay if you want it complete or to be able to use it with carpet like I have.

Bottom line:
The wii fit u is more of fun game while loosing a little weight than downright exercise. It does it's job by getting you interested in wanting to lose weight, & keep it off by encouraging you to keep at it. It's not for everybody, but the best way to figure that out is to try it. I'm not sure if there is still a demo for it, but at the least you can look up YouTube videos to decide if it is for you or not.

I have the black meter, no problems and the battery is still going since I started December 31st. That is almost 6 months of battery life, I wouldn't call that short. If you use cheap batteries like from eBay or dealextreme you will also get less battery life. Though I have used the cheapest batteries in the past on other devices such as the poke walker and I can get at least 4 months battery life on one battery. For the cost of the batteries vs the cost of in store batteries that is very good IMO. Based on this I think there was simply a batch of defective meters. I see no reason why color should matter, unless someone has opened up both colors to find they are very different on the inside.

The black meter, which is the one I currently use until one I bought off ebay comes in the mail, gives me a ridiculous amount of calories more than the one my mom has (the green one that came with the game & board). She will end up working out much more than I, & yet at the end of the day I still have more calories burned. For instance: today she vacuumed, cooked, & cleaned while I packed up some boxes for work ( whilenot moving much either), did some HW, & played video games. Somehow I burned 300 calories more than her by mainly sitting still & lying down. There is definitely something wrong with mine as her calories seem about the right amount for what she does, and mine really do not. Steps are fine, altitude is sometimes way off, and by consequence so is the temp.

Maybe there was a large batch out that was defective. Who knows. As it is now, there are many people reporting this who mainly have the black meter (and I only say mainly because I have yet to hear of a green meter working like this).

All in all it's really not the biggest deal to me, I actually only got the green one because I wanted green & my dad wants mine so he can join us. I am still able to enjoy the game just fine. And I have lost some weight & gained a little more tone since I've been playing the game (bought it in early April or late march I think).
For me the game is just for fun & competition, for my mom it is about losing weight. We're both happy with it regardless as it motivates me to get off my ass, & motivates her to walk to the store or walk around town.
