should i use a tablet or laptop for photography

Desktop > Laptop > Tablet

A desktop will get you the power and the proper monitor for editing digital photographs. A laptop will do the same but won't have the best processing power, the most storage space or the best monitor quality for your purposes. A tablet will be worse than the laptop at best.
