(PS3) Deadly Premonition: Directors Cut $14.99 on Play-asia.com

Hmm, they're selling UK PS+ cards and PSN cards for Japan now.

This is a great price. I emailed them when they were going for ~$50-60 if this would be reprinted and they ignored me. Oh well I ended up getting a used copy for about the same price as this so it could have been worse.

Is this game worth getting? I heard the story is pretty good but the gameplay sucks hard.
I would call the gameplay...earnest rather than sucky. In its own way, the gameplay enhances the overall experience to create one of the most underrated (and best ) games I've ever played.

Very much so. I've been politely communicating with their CS since, and I'm getting to the point where I'm no longer being polite.

I'm in Canada, so return shipping for me to Hong Kong with tracking will cost me ~$50. They're willing to refund $10 for shipping, on a $30 order. And they think me filing a Paypal chargeback will be unfair :wall:

Wow, playasia usually state the region of the game explicitly. Does the PAL version not work on US PS3?
I don't think anything is region locked on PS3, so it probably works. But the listing says US version and non-domestic versions generally have no future value.

PA said they got a shipment of UK instead of US versions.

They are sending out the UK version, which they assure is the exact same game, apart from different packaging.

All PS3 games are open region on disc.

Here is the e-mail I got:

We are writing about your order for PlayStation 3 (PS3), US, No Region
Protection).

We would like to inform you that the stocks of the game arrived on our
warehouse already. However, what we received was the UK version instead of
the US version.

In this regard, your order was changed to UK version and the price has been
adjusted accordingly to US$13.99. You may log in to check your order
details. You do not have to worry as the game is similar and it has no
Region Protection.

If you have paid by Paypal, please get back to our Customer Service and we
will issue refund either to your Paypal account or as store credit. If by
credit card, rest assured, we will capture the correct amount on the
shipping date.

Your order will be shipped soon.

Thank you for your usual support and Happy gaming!

Best regards,

Your Play-Asia Customer Support
What Play-Asia should have done was contact the customers prior to shipping to see if they would accept the UK version or cancel their order.

Anyone else kinda pissed about getting the UK version instead of the US version?
Not upset about, just a little disappointed.

Very much so. I've been politely communicating with their CS since, and I'm getting to the point where I'm no longer being polite.

That return shipping is outrageous. I can see filing a claim with PayPal because you ordered the US version and you are not receiving that. OTH I can see Play-Asia thinking it is unfair because they are a business and would like to get paid for the equivalent substituted ("similar" as they put it) product they sent you. Play-Asia's mistake was not giving customers a chance to accept or cancel the substituted item on the order.

sorry to hear that guys, I never had a problem with playasia before, did everyone else get the PAL version?
It appears so since Play-Asia's email states they received the UK version instead of the US.

Wow, playasia usually state the region of the game explicitly. Does the PAL version not work on US PS3?
In the sale on the website it was stated as US. Play-Asia says the the "UK version is similar and region free," therefore it should work.

What Play-Asia should have done was contact the customers prior to shipping to see if they would accept the UK version or cancel their order.
Yeah I wouldn't be upset if they did that.

In fact I emailed them promptly after they sent the notice telling them not to ship my order, and that I'd refuse it. That was at 6am Friday morning, and apparently their CS doesn't work weekends, so they got back to me on Monday. I made a fair attempt to save them the hassle/loss.
