Can you order the game online for that price? I've never done any business with Fry's... I'm worried that if I order something from them, it won't get here for a thousand years. And it'll delivered by a surly robot who will bust my kneecaps.

Hmm.. Wonder if I can get Walmart to PM this. Last time I tried to get them to PM Bestbuy's price on Tales of Symphonia HD they said they couldn't without an ad (and were too lazy to call the store and verify).

It probably also doesn't help that I'm on the east coast.

I preordered from Best Buy a few weeks ago and tracking says it's on its way. If I go to Best Buy and tell them to price match this for me, will I get like $10 back or will they not accept it?
unfortunately no since best buy will only do a post price match within 15 days if THEY have it on sale, they haven't post priced competitor prices in almost a year when they redid the price match policy:

We will also match prices post purchase if we lower our price within 15 days of your purchase. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/best-buy-low-price-guarantee/pcmcat297300050000.c?id=pcmcat297300050000

That really sucks as I paid for Mario Kart 8 on May 4 which is about one week more then 15 days but thanks for the quick reply and information. Either way, this game shall be awesome. Do you know how long items from Best Buy usually take to arrive?
well my last 5 preorders arrived on release day and my copy of mario kart was shipped today and scheduled to be recieved tomorrow according to the tracking number

That sounds pretty reliable, my Mario Kart 8 also states that it has been shipped today and if you are correct then it would be very awesome to get it by tomorrow. Do you know if it will arrive at the same time as the regular mail (1 - 3 pm) or is it somewhere a little later (8 - 9pm)?
idk it varies and depend on how they send it. I'm elite plus and always use expedited shipping and ups usually does that but if it was shipped standard shipping then USPS will probably deliver it so shipping time and and deliver day and other variables will vary

If you go in store you should be able to return and rebuy with a price match.

Anyone played the game? Wondering about two player controls. Does one person have to use a wii u gamepad? Can two people use a wii pro controller?

I have a Fry's locally, but it's across town. Once I factor in gas & time, most of their deals aren't really that great anymore. I used to go there all the time years ago, as they almost always had launch games for 10 dollars off, but now the deals are far and in between.

With all the online competition, I hardly ever shop there anymore, it's just not worth it.

You think so? I tried doing something similar with Super Mario 3D World and even checked Newegg to see if their lowered price was still available and it was. But when I asked the lady to price match, she went somewhere in a room to check on her computer or something, came back, and said there was nothing there. So I don't know/.

Wal-Mart isn't supposed to PM anything without a physical ad. Doing so was a firable offense last I checked (I guess that was awhile back at this point lol)

The only way you could even hope to pull this off without an employee risking their job is if you can pull a scan of the physical ad up on your phone, but even then that's still a no-no.

That worked for me once, I had the CAG ad ready on my phone and showed it to the employee when he asked and bought my item for the lower price

From what I've read online you don't have to use the gamepad as a controller even in single player, so yes, up to 4 people can use a pro controller, Wiimote, and/or Wii classic controller.

So you're saying there's a chance...

While I wouldn't bother with GS PM, you should be good to at least try BBY and Target for a PM regardless if there is a local store. The stores I've been to for both are supposed to check if there is a Fry's within a 20-25 mile radius, but most of the time I just show them the website (I usually print it out) and they don't bother checking. The worst that could happen is that they say no.

Of course I have a Fry's locally though, so maybe just every cashier I've tried has been privy to that fact...

Can you pm at target and still get the wheel
I tried and they would not let me get the wheel for free with the price match in place. I think it will be YMMV, though, as their system seemed to allow it just fine.

What did me in is that the electronics guy who walked the game up to customer service for me made it a point of telling the person behind the counter that i was trying to pricematch and that they werent supposed to allow the free item as well. When the wheel then rang up for free, it raised eye brows, and the electronics guy then pointed out their written policy about price matching and confirmed that it disallowed the free item, so they would not do it, even though the register seemed to ring it up for free without issue.

So, it seems to me that it will probably work unless the customer service person intervenes and doesn't allow it. YMMV

Also note, they were hesitant to price match Fry's at all. I have one locally, but they insisted on a print ad. I was able to finally convince them that the ad you can view on frys.com was the same as their print ad, and they did at least allow an electronic version of the ad to be accepted, but even that much took convincing. If trying to match, bring a print copy just to be safe.

I can confirm that you will only need to use the game pad if the player in first wants to, or you want to play with five people. You just have to be sure to turn the wii mote on first, & select everything from the start menu on with the wii mote. Otherwise the game will think you want to play with the pad.

Went to Target during lunch, grabbed a wheel, asked for game, told employee that I wanted to price match, he gives me game with no case and tells me just to go to customer service, employee can't find it on-line so she asks to see my phone, says okay, scanned wheel and I got both for about $55. Now just have to go return wheel for $8.33 refund valve.
Nice! So that at least confirms what I suspected - that the register will allow it. Debating whether to try again.

My situation was pretty much similar to yours. I went back to electronics to grab the game. The girl asked me if I had it reserved (I actually only wanted the $1 keychain heh) and that is when she brought up the free steering wheel, which I had no idea about. I told her I wanted to price match so she sent me with the game, my reservation card and steering wheel up to customer service (in the past when price matching someone usually walk the game up for you) I told the lady at customer service I wanted to price match Fry's and whipped out the print ad I had with me. Before I could even finish my sentence she said "We don't price match Fry's". I told her that I have price matched Fry's before (which I had, just not recently) and she said "At this store?" I told her that it was at another Target recently. So she got on a walkie and asked her manager and the manager corrected her. So I ended up getting price matched, the $5 gift card, steering wheel and another 5% off for using my Red Card. I have a copy reserved at Gamestop that I pre-ordered only to get the poster. I'll go pick that up later and return it in a day or two.

I got super excited for a second there because I didn't read properly. I thought you were talking about the Mario Kart Wii U bundle -facepalm-

Maybe you can pull it up the price on your phone and show it to them? I have always had success doing that.

Did you get Mario Kart 8 today? I checked my order and it says that it will be here by next week because it's coming all the way from California...... and I'm in Illinois

My Target never got the wheels. Was gonna PM, but they said they would just take 10$ off instead.

Pretty good deal since I prefer Gamepad/Pro Controller anywahy

Just take the wheel with you to customer service. Tell employee at electronics that you are going to grab a couple more things in store. They should throw it in a case. Take wheel and game to front, price match game, and they will most likely just scan wheel with no problem. Good luck.
I tried this exact technique at a second Target while I was out on errands, and the electronics guy still refused to let the game out of his sight and walked it up front to the desk. This Target flat out refused to match Fry's at all, though, so it was a moot point.

I happened to come across a third Target on the way to another errand and they were out of wheels. Looks like it's not meant to be for me.

I have $10 to best buy, so I think I will just forget the wheel offer and price match it there instead.
