Hey, first thread here.

Searched, but could have very easily overlooked if this has already been posted. If so, fuck me.

I saw people posting about used ZombiU for $7.99 at Best Buy, but if you're someone who prefers to buy New/Sealed like me, then this is a pretty good deal to get it basically the same price after GCU [just signed up when I bought my MK8 bundle the other day]. I chose free in-store pickup and swung by on my way home from work, got it for $8.41 after GCU and tax.

Not a bad day after getting :wiiu: Rayman Legends @ Target for $6!

Anyway, hope this helps someone out who might be on the fence with Amazon's pretty cheap price like I was. Sorry if this is repeat/useless thread and please delete it if need be.

how is the game? Cause I noticed it on sale this morning but been trying to decide all day to get it or not and check reviews but seem like it 50/50 on reviews but I think most the bad reviews were probably before they fixed the bugs when the game first came out maybe?
 
I bought this when I picked up a wii u last year. It's not a bad game, but it's not great either. I guess for $8 or $10, it's worth it to try if you haven't yet.

Yeah, browsing deals on CAG had me collecting :wiiu: games before i even had the console, but now that I have one my library jsut keeps getting bigger! Glad I could help you guys out!

I haven't played much past the introduction, since I didn't have much time to sit down with it tonight, but it seems like a pretty solid survival horror title if that's your jam. Ammo and suppleis are few and far between so you have to play smart or you will get punished for trying to run and gun or play it like the more action-oriented shooters on the market. It's certainly creepy as hell and you will get your spooks and thrills. I definitely wouldn't pay more than $15 or 20 for this game at the most, but I agree with krashhole; at this price point I feel extremely comfortable with my purchase. I look forward to playing it with my good friend who likes survival horror and zombies later this summer.

Abysmal. It's an unfinished, buggy mess that feels like an early beta build was slapped onto a disc. I don't know what you mean about them "fixing the bugs" because I played the game a month or so after release and there was no patch fixing them.... and to my knowledge that was after Ubisoft formally dropped support for this game. Unless they went back on what they said? Either way, AFAIK all the bugs are still there. At the very least, I know it's still possible to run out of C4 (an essential story item required to advance) if you explore too much. To this day, I can't think of another major console release with such a shitty design that it is possible to run out of a story-centric item and just be stuck.....

The game is just a notch above Aliens CM or DNF. It's buggy, unfinished, and with graphics that look like they'd be home on the Wii. As a proof of concept for what the WiiU could potentially do with horror one day, it does work. There are some good ideas here. Just don't expect anything resembling a decent game. I honestly believe a lot of reviewers were far too kind with the game simply because it's not cool to diss any "major" Nintendo exclusive and because, aside from an overpriced 2D platformer and minigame compilation it was the only new thing to play..... but at least it's still better than TANK!

Bought this yesterday as I had a $5 gift card balance left, hit the price I'm looking for.  Still tons of copies left in store when I did my pick up, though.

Honestly, don't listen to him. It's a pretty horrible review. I think all credibility was lost with the comparison to Aliens.

While it's true this game has bugs, it's far from a mess and was actually reviewed quite well. It got decent scores and for $10, you can't go wrong. They also patched some game breaking bugs weeks after release.

I've played through it multiple times and it's much much better than he's giving credit. If you are a survival horror fan it has it's flaws but is an overall amazing game. Atmosphere is top notch.

It may not be for everyone but that's a really harsh review, IMO. For $8 or $10 people should definitely give it a try.

Like I said, I strongly suspect the fact that it was a Nintendo exclusive, and about the only new thing to play on the system, had an impact on the score. And I did say it was a notch above Aliens CM.

But it's still a glitch filled abomination, and to this day it's the only game I have played with bugs/glitches so severe that I have not been able to finish it. I can't even say that about Aliens... but I tried playing through ZombiU 3 times, and whether it was C4 bullshit, essential story items falling underground and becoming unobtainable, or just some stupid glitch that made it absolutely impossible to leave the safehouse right before the point of no return, the game was a horrid mess. And of course it forces autosave constantly so with every glitch you are screwed. Even on something as polished as Bioshock or Arkham I'd call that unforgivable, and ZombiU is a far cry from those games, even without the excessive glitching.

And did I mention how tons of people ran out of C4 and got stuck? god damn that still blows my mind that any dev could fuck up like that.

I've given my opinion on this before. It's more debatable at $20, but I think anything for $10 or less that has a decent enough meta (75+) or gamerankings (75+) *AND* is exclusive to a system should be bought for $10 or less in It's current life cycle unless you don't like that genre. Worst case scenario your out of a few dollars after the trade in, but with Gamestop bonus trade ins and various other trade in promotions you probably will lose very, very little.

Bottom line: Buy it. Now.

 
I would also recommend Zombi U if you are interested in a survival game as opposed to an action game.  I’ll agree that the graphics are subpar but the game more than makes up for it in atmosphere.  I never encountered any bugs aside from some occasional clipping in crowded areas.

Maybe that was an intentional design decision... make you plan out the missions better. Why do you assume its the dev's fault and not the player's fault? You don't get unlimited C4 in real life either. :p
