The Evil Within

Seriously??

no one responded ... or is this a dupe topic?

But yes I'm way too excited for this game, mostly because I'm part of the group that is disappointed in the current library of XO games ... especially when you look at how long this Gen of consoles has been out and compare that to last gen's launches.

I have it paid off from Gamestop credit but I think the Publisher really screwed the pooch with the October delay because I may just cancel it given all the other games coming out then. At the very least I'll likely wait for reviews instead of picking it up.

I hope its as good as Resident Evil 4, I'll be happy with a game that can live up to that one. October seems like a good time to release a horror game, dont you think?

I want to play it, but I know I'm going to freak out if I play it. Maybe I'll watch someone play it. lol. Looks really cool though.

This once delayed game got It's release date bumped UP. It's now October 14th instead of the 21st, avoiding Battlefield/AC.

Oh really? Thats sick, a couple days earlier, Battlefield hardline looks terrible anyways and Assassins creed might be good, we'll see after the reviews.

I'm leaning more and more on getting this. I really do want a good horror experience once again and this truly looks like it's the route I'm going to take, even though I'd freak out playing it. haha!

K-Mart has it for $20 back with Shop your way Rewards, obviously the catch is you only have like two weeks to spend those points, and who knows how fast the shipping will be (though from what I read they usually ship the game within 48 hours from release?) just keep in mind you can't use points towards the purchase and you'll be fine.

Graphically the game looks a lot better than earlier trailers I remember seeing. I like the look of the game a lot but I won't be getting it right at launch since I'd rather get Sunset Overdrive instead.

I really hated every resident evil since the first one on the PC way back when and this obviously reminds me of RE, but looks better, I'm gonna wait on the reviews but I think I'll end up buying since Destiny is in a a rut with lacking content.

Sounds like the game is legitimately the real deal, several people on GAF have got their hands on early copies of the game and the news sounds positive. I'll post the impressions including how long it's estimated to be below in a spoiler tag. Just note I'm not posting story details, but some people might not want to know how long it roughly is and I don't want to ruffle any fathers.

Game Length.

Bethesda said the game is "15-20 Hours long". This sounds very accurate since one player who got a PS3 version of the game is about 75% through the game and has played for over 12 hours. Additionally after beating the game there is a New Game+ mode and two unlockable difficulty settings.

Save Options, and system.

Multiple save profiles are available, checkpoints are included and the game is broken up into Chapters.

Xbox One performance.

Framerate is stable with very few drops, someone mentioned being "Very pleased performance wise".

Supply of Resources (Ammo)

Someone mentioned being decently far into the game and always being low on ammunition, also mentioned that the AI is good, but it gets difficult once you're out of ammunition.

That's really big news there. Really hoping the game is as good as they're saying. Will see soon.

Ugh I just realized I said "Ruffle any fathers".  :dunce:

Anyway I know it isn't the Xbox Versions, but here's a PS3 vs PS4 graphics comparison. If anybody is getting in on the Xbox 360 compared to the Xbox One the versions should look the same as these two. Images shouldn't be spoilery since it's really just a doorway.

True, but at least 360 people can still get these newer releases without having to shell out $400+ for a console.

I'm buying a disc based copy from Amazon so my friend can borrow when I'm done, ottherwise would have pre-loaded already.

This + Bayonetta 2 and Sunset Overdrive this month= So Good.

The reviews I've seen are all mixed apparently. Some people saying it doesn't live up to the "survival horror" genre because there's too much action, others saying its an obvious attempt at recreating the "resident evil 4 formula", which I hated.

Going to pick this up tomorrow. I'm hearing a lot of good things about it, and I decided price wise it probably won't go lower than $40 for awhile unless it bombs sales wise.

I am only 2 hours into it but am loving it.

I had no clue that it was from the maker of RE games (I loved RE 1,2 and 4)

If you like the old school resident evil games then you should feel right at home with this game.

Lot of trail and error and kind of difficult but also fun and a little freaky/scary.

It does lack detail in some parts graphically but for the most part the graphics are pretty good.

If you aren't certain then just redbox it.

You won't like this game at all then.

I picked this game up, I'm not typically a Survival Horror fan but this has been fun.

On a side note though, so far, The Last of Us was a scarier game than this.

Yeah, I'm into Chapter 6 and nothing's been scary so far. Weird, odd, and a little creepy, but not scary. Oh well. I'm enjoy it though. Feels like the sequel to RE4 that RE5 could have been.
