Why do people diss the Kinect 2?

People on here tend to diss the Kinect 2.

Really the only two good arguments I know of against it are "Kinect games are usually kiddy" and "there are privacy concerns".

I think a lot of people "diss" it because people tend to fall into crowds rather than carve out their own opinion. In this case a lot of people simply join the kinect hating crowd without ever trying it for themselves and I think that's the biggest issue.

Problem is that there's no way to test Kinect in a retail setting since they're usually closed off because of the noise issues, but with that in mind people have no way of trying it for themselves without actually buying one.

I am a Kinect supporter, but the reality is that K2 isn't that much better than K1 and K1 didn't live up to the promise.  Neither the promise made by Microsoft or the promise of the technology.  I'm glad I have it for my Xbox One, but I'm not exactly clamoring for the next big Kinect focused title either.

I'm just happy that it enables me to say "Xbox On" when I walk into my game room and everything lights up. :)

It's because the Kinect SUCKS. Have you ever tried Fighter Within for Xbox One? 23/100 out of 39 reviews. 3/10 out of 179 user reviews. I own the original Kinect and the Xbox One Kinect, and they both work about as much as a disabled veteran with PTSD.

1. recognition & sign-in issues

2. recently-removed mandatory $100 add'l investment with XB1

3. Audio command usage is 90% of MS's currently-implemented functionality in-game (yet uses a tiny fraction of the physical space)

4. Kinect was hogging approx. 10% of the XB1's CPU power/reserve

5. Name 4 retail games for Kinect 2

6. Name 3 GOOD retail games for Kinect 2

7. No backwards compatibility or re-releasing of the handful of good games for Kinect 1

8. No XBLA small/mini/free Kinect 2 games like they did with Kinect

9. No Happy Action Theater (Kinect Party) 2

I have 24 Kinect games for the 360, all of which are anywhere from enjoyable to awesome (excluding free Haunt, that game can go roast a bag of marshdicks).

The biggest disser of Kinect is every single game developer, as they've all washed their hands of it for one reason or another...including Microsoft.

Blade - That game is terrible. Which doesn't automatically make the Kinect 2 terrible. I think its the game.

Kerig - When I was buying, they gave me a free Forza 5 download with the Kinect One, but seemed to offer none with the Kinectless One.

For every turd Kinect game, there is a solid one, let's be honest.  Fable the Journey was excellent, the first two Kinect Sports games are a lot of fun, for a couple of quick examples.  There is solid XBLA stuff, too.

The voice and video aspect is great. I'm not interested in the games at all.

Overall I think it's vital to the system. Glad people now have an option of they don't feel the same.

It does seem very jarring that there aren't that many Kinect 2 games out yet. Given how strongly Microsoft focused on it I would have thought they'd have had stronger software support when it initially released.

For me I just have absolutely no interest whatsoever in motion control stuff (had a Wii for a while last gen, and Kinect very briefly as MS gave me a Kinect system due to bad customer service with my live account getting hacked and hated both) or voice controls.

I still don't hate Kinect, I just hated that they forced it in until recently.  I have no issue with it being an optional accessory.  I'll just never buy another console with that crap forced in as I don't want to financially support gaming trends I dislike.  Especially when it made the console cost $100 more than the competition, with added insult to injury of the competing console being a little more powerful.

They've rectified that now, so I have no issue with them.   Still doubt I'll get an X1 as I just don't game enough for multiple consoles anymore.  But since they went back on that, dropped DRM etc. I have no problems with MS.  If they get it right next go around, I could easily switch back if they had the better system and more exclusives I want.

I like it fine and can't imagine trying to navigate the Xbonr without it. That said, its not for everyone and I still don't have the room to use it for games. I like the voice command stuff, that's about it.

got news for you kinect 2.0 so far is being pushed as a system tool not as a gaming camera as first kinect was at launch.

They've said it's integral to their system but they're still building games for it. Nobody's spending $100 dollars for a "System tool" that won't fully function for some people.

Honesty I'm not sure where you're getting that message from but it sounds like a bad excuse as to why there's no games out for it.

I don't have Xbone Kinect, or an Xbox One yet.  But I think a lot of people hate it simply because Microsoft said it would be the greatest feature of the system.  It has no real compelling argument FOR it.  The arguments against it need only to be supported by the $100 price tag.

I own the Move, PS Eye, and Kinect for past gen, and plan to get an Xbox One with Kinect in the future.  I enjoy party titles, motion controls, etc with friends.  I can absolutely see however why someone wouldn't want it though and if I was on a more strapping budget I would skip the Kinect version (or Xbox One entirely).

I like Kinect to some extent, but it has a lot of problems and there really isn't that many games worth playing on it. I suppose you can count the dancing games, but those to me, don't even qualify for making it worth buying. I have not yet used Kinect 2, but if it's much of the same with kinect 1, probably pointless to own one.
