PS4 Price Cut Early 2015 or E3 '15 PS4 Too Early?

I think if they drop it to $350 in Feb or March 2015 they coast with the console sales lead for a while. But there`s several steps I`d take long before making that move remaining profitable & strengthening the brand in process.

1- $450 PS4/PSV w/16 GB memory card bundle ASAP- most ppl who buy this will surely get PS+ so $500 right away along with any games/accessories. They`ll also get revenue from ppl scoring larger PSV memory. Figure the breakdown of the $500 PS4 @ cost($350-$380) $120-$150 for the PSV & they`ll have you hooked for PS+ for 5+ yrs going forward.

2- 2014 Black Friday $75-$100 giftcards on most bundles

3- 2 Free fall 2014 releases(Too bad Batman won`t be releasing in 2014) included in a early 2015 bundle

As soon as the momentum from these moves slips in 2015 then drop to $350-$375. If the sales stay strong enough to last until E3 hold till E3 drop the bomb there with a heavy dose of games.

PS1 price cut in 8 months
PS2 price cut in 17 months
PS3 price cut in 11 months
It`ll be 16 months from PS4 launch at E3 2015

I think at the very least we'll get a Killzone + Knack combo bundle with system for $399.99 on Black Friday. Might not be the price cut some would want but it would be a decent value. But yes, a PS4 price cut would be pretty epic anytime soon.

No reason to cut the price.

MS has bundled their system seller, retailers giving 50 GC promos all the time, GC promos with free live, GC promo with free forza 5, dropped the kinect and lowered the price, 50 GC promo on the kinectless sku.

NONE of that caused the xbone to beat the ps4 in a single month.

What reason does sony have to lower the price????

Price wont be lowered until next fall, if then even. But bundles will be around black friday for sure.

I think bundles are as good as it will get for a while. I could see the White Destiny bundle with a year of Plus for $400 at Black Friday though

Given how often I've seen PS4s for $360-370, I doubt think that a $50 price cut could be reasonable but I doubt it. I could see a price drop in Japan, since it's not doing so hot there but we probably won't see anything here. I'm personally waiting for a decent bundle... maybe KZ and InFamous w/ 1 year of plus during BF. It might seem like a lot but by then, KZ and InFamous should be budget games and PS+ probably doesn't cost Sony much money since they're giving it away.

I don`t think they "have to" either but I also wouldn`t stand pat for to long. I`d rather act than react forcing MS hand from position of power they do have some heavy hitter franchises that Sony hasn`t matched sales wise like Halo/L4D.
InFamous/Knack have been massively pushed with the PS4 promos already so there`s no "newness" to a bundle with them certainly not enough to sellout in a month.

A customer MGS bundle with the prequel & new game combined with an Infamous/Batman Arkham Knight or B:AK/MGS bundle those fly off the shelves with no gc needed. If there is a GC ppl will scramble to locate one.

Plus using the PS4 sales to help add 3-5 million vita sales is smart that would be 30%-50% increase during the busiest software selling season.

A vita bundle might happen but I dont see that being a system mover either, most normal people just dont get the awesomeness that is ps4 + vita + plus or have any desire to play on a handheld that is not their phone. Maybe if the vita got candy crush?

That on BF for 399 with a year of live would prolly sell pretty well (provided it doesnt wind up like titanfall, lot of sizzle with no substance). Launches at 450 I think. 

They're killing it with sales.

Price cuts should be considered if Microsoft does another one or if Microsoft starts gaining a lot of momentum.

Another factor is cost of production. The computer components used now will be less expensive next year. Their manufacturing processes should be better optimized by next year as well. If they're still dominating sales then they stand to start turning a profit on these machines then. I don't think either company wants extended bleeding and so you may not see a price cut from either for a while...

I don't see it happening. The system is selling immensely well right now and it'll continue to have massive sales throughout the holidays. Then next year it'll have some good games hopefully early in the year (Perhaps BloodBorne or The Order) which will keep the momentum going.

That being said we've already seen plenty of great sales like Target's 15% off, tons of retailer bundles, eBay deals, and Cowboom. So if consumers want a cheaper system they do have options out there.

In Japan?  Yes.  Anywhere else? No.

What will sell more in what order from BF till say March 2015(assuming the games released in 2014)

1- $450 Destiny bundle(by BF ppl these will be "old news" as alot of ppl will have either the bundle or game)
2- $450 PS4/PSV w/16GB mem card & KZ for both(Since the price is the same ppl w/2 kids can get this at good value)
3- $450 MGSV w/Phantom Pain & GZ(system seller)
4- $450 AC/Batman Arkham Knight(would be best BF exclusive retailer bundle)

3, 4, 2 & 1 having all 4 on shelves from BF on would be killer. Any gc offers on top too.

I think the PS4 will stick to $400 for quite a while. I think it's set at a fair and reasonable price and if it ever does lower price, I can see it going to around $350. I would like to see them go down to $300 by 2015-2016, but that's highly unlikely.

There`s no doubt 2015 will see a price per their previous pattern & MS will not just stay @ $400 if they continue to lose this badly. 3.5 million shipped between PS3/PS4 & 1.1 million shipped 360/XB1 including their price cuts/bundles. Nov 2015 is 24 months from launch the longest they ever went w/o a cut is 17 months. E3 2015 is 16 months so there`s no better time to annouce then there if everything remains the same.
With the bundles listed & gc`s they`d coast far above XB1 & then the cut plus xmas I don`t think MS could regroup. XB1 will survive but not overtake PS4.
