TV sales

Hey guys, I'm in the market to buy my first tv on my own (previous one my parents got me). I had a few questions:
1) is there any "general" time when one can get the best deals on TVs? Basically, should I wait or just pick one up now.
2) what's is HZ, and is it that important? I know I want 1080p but is getting more than 60HZ necessary?

Generally, deals can be had on Black Friday/Cyber Monday in November and sometime either before the Super Bowl or after in February.  I forget which.  Just check the forums here periodically, tv deals pop up every so often.

Thanks for the article! I'll simply stick with 60 HZ, and I'm very glad I don't have to spend the extra $$.
