Hey all,

We wanted to give everyone an update regarding the purchase limitations with Gamers Club Unlocked (GCU). We’ve been continuously sharing your feedback with the My Best Buy team. Well, they’ve listened and have made some great changes! The following has been added to the terms of GCU:

“The limits for using your Unlocked membership will be three copies of a New (i.e. not preowned) gaming software title per platform, per year. Collector’s and Limited Editions count toward that title limit. Game of the Year editions, usually released much later including additional content do not count toward that limit but would essentially start as a separate game and limit.”

 

For clarity, when we say “per platform”, we’re referring to each console. For example, you could purchase three copies of any given title on Xbox One. Then, you could purchase three more copies of that title on PlayStation 4.

Lastly, we’ve seen a lot of questions around the timeframe of these limitations. As you read above, we have now specified that these limitations are on a per year basis. The year will begin on the date you make your first purchase utilizing the 20% GCU discount.

But that's fine for me.  Only people I foresee this hurting are the flippers who buy tons of new copies.  

 
Uhhh...it doesn't hurt, it helps.  It used to be 3 per title period.  This loosens the restrictions as well as finally adding some clarification.

 
Good to see they improved the conditions, but happier to see that they spelled out basically every detail of the matter.

yeah, 3 copies for each platform is still too little. that is still not enough copies to give my cousins craig/ bay's families for gifts.

As of now the system does not check for ANY violations. It is not automated, but actually an audit done to your account by employees.

We don't know if it is on a yearly, bi-yearly, or what basis as that information was never provided. We just know that it isn't automatically checked.

 
Can't help but wonder, does the timer start now, or is it retroactive? I got Forza 5 in April as a graduation gift, traded it for $42, then got it last Wednesday or Thursday again for $21, price-matching Tiger Direct. I wish they'd add a way to check your logged purchases. I might have a half-brother and a brother-in-law getting Bones this year, and if they want Forza 5, and the previously-purchased copies count against me, it could be a problem.

 
Hmm..nice to know, since no one I know with an account had said there was more to the limitations.

Looks like I'm not getting in on it till they discount it again.

I thought they announced a new edition of Forza 5 as well? So that might be your saving grace in that instance. However I think it's safe to say you can't buy any more than 1 vanilla Forza 5 till next April.

All the numbered Forza Games have had "complete/ultimate" editions anyway so I think it's safe to assume Forza 5 will if I'm wrong about it being announced already.
 
This is great news for me since I let my two best friends us my phone number for the rewards/discount and we're all going to be getting Smash 3DS, and one of the two and I are getting is for Wii U as well. Now it won't be any problem at all. Very happy Best Buy did something logical.

Yeah, and then you have to wonder if all of the people on their side who need to know, actually do know about the changes. Their neckbone doesn't usually connect to the headbone.

 
Now If there was only some way to know what I've bought over the last year....

Amazing deal! This is the greatest deal ever and the reason I come to the deals section. Im buying this for everyone I know, one to keep sealed and 3 more to flip on ebay. Thank you for sharing this truly awesome deal with us. Please post every single deal like this you possibly can.

Sounds like someone's still salty over missing out on the $30 GCU renewal coupon.
 
I break the 3 limit rule many times and no audit has occurred for me. When they ask if ever im just going to plead i had no idea! = ). I game on the edge! Haha

That's a pretty killer deal. They get your discount, you get all their Reward Zone points.
 
So is it official that the mods gave up in trying to clean up this forum?

In other news, I think I might have been banned because I can't my RZ account.

I thought it was that way too. I read this going, like, eh, what's new? Maybe I was thinking of the trade-in side though. That was 3 per platform before, right? Except for the recent 3DS B1G1 sale I haven't been close to the limit on either purchases or trades recently anyway.
