I haven't really played a Mario game since Mario 64. It was an incredible game loved every minute of it.

I've lately been eyeing a wii u. Looking at the catalog, although there isn't a ton of games I would play there is still a half a dozen or more. With mk8 and super Mario 3d world both out now and both having great reviews.

These would be the main two I would love. Are they good enough to justify being a console seller?

Thanks in advance for the input.

If you really want to play a Mario game, get a regular wii and play Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. This option would be much cheaper. I personally didn't care for Mario kart wii and 8 but they are fairly similar so you could still get a similar experience playing MK Wii

You can get Wind waker for ~$15 on here, too, because of the mario kart 8 special deal.  Next time Gamestop has a b2g1 free sale on Wii games, I suggest getting mario galaxy then, as they do those sales a lot.

Can you point me to where for the wind waker? I know I missed out on the free download with purchase of mk8.

I also recommend you get:Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical FreezeThe Wonderful 101Wind Waker HDShovel Knight
I'm looking forward to the donkey kongs. Used to love em back on the snes.

Are two games enough to get a console? Not for most people. Only you can answer that. Luckily for you, you can get Earthbound and some other games as well.

The galaxy games are worth experiencing. In a way Mario galaxy is just a larger/better version of Mario 64. If you want something cheaper, the galaxy games are a console seller, for the Wii and this point in time. If you never got to play any of the Wii titles, Wii U is a good choice at this point with 3D World and MK8 and older Wii titles.

Yeah, get the WiiU but get the Galaxy games over 3D World.  3DW is a step back from the fun and originality of the Galaxy universe.  3D World has more in common with New Super Mario Bros. than any of the true 3D games.  I'd go for Rayman Legends over any of the post Galaxy Mario games.

MK8 has been dumbed down for the masses.

While it's not a Wii U title, if you can track it down (and you enjoy the genre), BUY XENOBLADE CHRONICLES. It's far and away my favorite RPG of all time, and at least in my top 5 for my entire gaming career. Plus, it'll prepare you for its Wii U sequel coming (hopefully) in 2015.

Also, should you decide to try Gamestop, don't be afraid of their high price; I took an easy 120 hours out of it, and would easily value the game at $100, if not more. Their asking price of only $50 (msrp) for a used copy is a steal.

I think MK 8 is awesome and Mario 3D World is better than both galaxies (which are good). NSMB U feels kind of stale, but I still like it.
