nice catch, too bad OOS in my area :(  gamestop really needs to fire whoever puts up the product web images, they are all so goddamn small.  i always have to jump over to amazon if I want to actually look at what something looks like without having to squint.

In my opinion its a little more comfortable

However battery life is less than DS3 and some games don't allowed you to use it since it doesn't recognize it as a DS4 but as a generic bluetooth controller

Again its a matter of preference

So basically, I should wait till I get a PS4. But first they need to announce their older IPs from the PS2 era.

In the meantime I might actually get this DS3.

Good luck actually finding one of these. My store got 2 when they came out the Friday before the game launched & they were gone by the weekend (I bought one of them.)

Only a handful in the suburban STL locations or stores out in the I-55/44 boonies, & each store listed only had 1 left.

Correction....They're listed for $100 on Amazon. You can ask for whatever you want, doesn't mean people will buy it. Looking at eBay results in the same thing. All of the "Sold" listings pop in between $40 and $60 bucks.

Someone would have to really REALLY be obsessed with Lightning to pay $100 for that DS3.

Having said that: Call me a weirdo, but I kind of thought that Lightning's appearance is a bit of a take of a FF version of...Taylor Swift? Feel free to come at me.

Other than my LE fight stick, I've yet to have an item not sell on AZ for close to what it was when I listed it on AZ.

Examples being selling my used ME 1 CE in 2012 & Yugioh season 3 DVD set in 2013 for $200 each.

It's way more comfortable and generally better. With the DS4 triggers, shooters are actually playable. Terrible battery life though. I've also had sporadic problems with the DS4 losing connectivity and having to delete it and connect it again from scratch.

A store near me actually has this. I am interested in it, but I have three PS3 controllers as it is, so have no real need for this. If someone wants me to pick it up for them I can do so if they pay me back for it+shipping+a kickback for gas and time and everything. Let me know. I will put a hold request on it right now to be safe.

EDIT: Store just confirmed they have it so if anyone wants it just let me know.

True, but you can always replace the stock battery inside with one that has more mAH. Makes such an improvement in battery life. :)

Anyway, two stores near me have one copy each so I'm tempted.

 
If youre talking wirelessly, then yes, DS4 may not be compatible with some games, and of course motion controls dont work regardless.

But I have yet to encounter a game that hadnt work with DS4 when connected by wire (USB). So in this case, battery drain is not an issue. The only problem is the PS Home button doesnt work, but that is rarely needed, and its not like you cant access it with your DS3.

DS4 is worlds better than DS3. The triggers, the curved design differs slightly allowing for longer play without hand cramping (inside middle finger), sticks are farther apart to prevent thumb contact, etc.
You just have to use it for a short while before you notice the difference and then youll refuse to go back.

If I needed to replace my DS3, I'd get this over a plain black, but $40 just to get a reskin of another DS3 is excessive, and Im a fan of LR. (To be honest, the skin isnt that awesome). I have no plans to get one and flip, even tho theres one near a GS 20 min away.

I just cant resist and pickup one nearish me. 

I got to say, for an exclusive 'special edition' controller, the outer box is very generic, only has a tiny ass FFXIII LR label on the bottom left. 

 
Thanks OP.  One left in my area.  The GS employee in the store said he was sad to see it finally go as it was one of two they got.  (He was the one that bought the other).  Been thinking of getting a third since my two others are really old but still work OK.  Will set aside just in case.

 
I found one of these brand new at a sort of local gamestop. The box was a little beat up but after thinking for a while I bought it. Don't know if I should keep it. I just bought it for my collections sake but I usually would only buy stuff like this if the box was perfect. It's not torn or anything just a little loose on the bottom and banged on some of the corners. Kinda like any new boxes you would see at Kmart.
 
Wanted a regular black DS3 and the associate bitched earlier today because he had to sift through them all to get to the only black one in the store. GS employees are so lazy.
