Futurama: The Complete Series (with 2014 calendar) $59.96 at Walmart

That's nice. Too bad I bought the first 4 DVD sets a few years ago, and finished collecting the movies earlier this year.

Great deal, still

Good price, but reviews on Amazon are ripping the hell out of the packaging (cardboard sleeves for the disks leave them prone to scratching). As mentioned by the Count above, maybe when they decide to repackage them as a Blu set, I'll bite.

I just started watching this show like last week and have been addicted so this couldn't have came at a better time. It baffles me how this came from one of the Simpsons creators but is actually hilarious unlike the Simpsons. I'm guessing one of the reasons it's way edgier than most Fox shows at that time and it wasn't until Family Guy premiered that something was not only on that level but farther in that area of edgy jokes.

^ if you watched any of the early seasons of the Simpsons during the FXX marathon, you'd recognize how hilarious it was.

Aw fuck, thanks for sharing. That's bad enough for blu rays but is murder on DVD's.

Volume 7 and 8 are only $7.96 on the site too for those interested. Cheapest I've seen them.
And for you Amazon fans, they price matched Volume 8 while Volume 7 shows up as $12.96. I needed Volume 8 so this is a terrific deal. Now I just need $27.04 to get free shipping.

And The Simpsons is still great. Plenty of gems after Season 10.

I have. I own the first 5 seasons and have seen many more but haven't owned them. Honestly the first few you could air on Cartoon Network today and not have anyone outraged as they're tame as fuck compared to later seasons. Simpsons really has never been an edgy show though, at least as long as I watched it since it's been many years since I've seen any episodes. Comparing it to animated shows now is like comparing Arthur to Cowboy Bebop.

Submitted to amazon for price match. I wish there was something  as a group or individual we could easily chime in and make it easier for all with price matching.

Back instock again. Placed my order for instore pick up hope it will be perfect condition ;)
Not a big fan of site to store pick up as that means that 99% of the time your items will be sent via their GM trucks and they load those trailers like shit. They literally pay someone to work at the end of a belt and hurl everything that comes at him onto the trailer not giving a damn what they're throwing or slamming down. Then it gets to the store and you have a bunch of people who don't care (can't blame them honestly with what they get paid) who throw it around as well. They might even not separate it from the store freight and your item ends up lost for days or permanently because some idiot sent it out to the floor or it just vanishes in the back somewhere. I'm not trying to scare you as the latter doesn't happen often, at least in organized stores where employees get treated at least half decent but the way their regional warehouses load the trailers is a concern if you have something valuable.

You're insane. The Simpsons was just coming out of its Golden Age when Futurama began (It was almost through Season 10) As much as I love Futurama it doesn't even come close to the Simpsons in its prime.

When I said first few seasons I meant like 1-3, maybe even 4. Once it hit 5 and on it was great but the earlier seasons looking back were so fucking tame. By tame I don't mean it wasn't funny but in today's society it was so toned down you could have put those seasons anywhere on television, including networks with teen oriented shows like CN. But no Futurma>Simpsons regardless of what season though, way funnier. Especially by today's Simpsons, which suck for the most part. Futurama is just an all-around better show and if you don't think so oh well.

Why do we need to compare Simpsons and Futurama?  Both are loads of fun and both have good episodes and bad episodes.

Simpsons still makes me laugh at least a couple times an episode, that's more than I can say for crap like Family Guy.  Really not sure why people keep calling to have it cancelled.

I can't deny that the new Simpson's stuff isn't half as good as anything in Futurama's history though.

Simpsons have been around for over 25 years so a decline is expected. The original creator is still baffled at why it's still on though lol. To me Futurama did it right as the ser s creators didn't want to milk it. As for family guy well we can all agree that it needs to go to the entertainment vault in the sky

You act like the Futurama creators had any say in the matter of the show getting canceled 3-4 times.

Didn't Matt Groening create The Simpsons and Futurama?!?

Why is it the second show spawns always turn out great and are the better shows all-around than the firsts? I hate Family Guy like most but love American Dad and apparently most feel this way yet FG always beat it in ratings. Futurama we've already established why it's better than the Simpsons. Frasier, even though Cheers is revered and deeply respected, definitely seemed to be more popular than Cheers in the end.

AD I think has done so well because it has a completely different staff than FG. Seth MacFarlane only has a credit because he was a co-creator but has no other involvement in the show besides voicing Stan and Roger plus misc. characters. I think he also served as a minor creative force in the first season but after that hasn't contributed creatively since. Veering off-subject but I've seen quite a few Seth interviews and have read some articles by him and that guy is actually very smart so I don't even think we can blame him for FG being shit...must be the other writers as Seth really is hilarious. I think Cheers is more iconic than Frasier because of its cast but ultimately I think popularity wise Frasier did better in many other aspects than Cheers did and I say that as a diehard Cheers fan as well as Frasier.

If anyone else ordered one of these, just wanted to give you a heads up that they shipped mine in a bubble mailer and of course the box was damaged.  Luckily you can just return them in store but I don't know WTF they were thinking not shipping this in a box.

That's a good point. But if we deal with spinoffs there are some really horrible ones too like Friends to Joey and Golden Girls to Golden Palace.

But Star Trek to TNG. ;)

I like this quote of the Futurama vs Simpsons fight...

From the man Matt Groening himself about the November crossover of the two...

“Simpsorama” is taglined in the opening credits as “a show out of ideas teams up with a show out of episodes,”

TOS > TNG Aside from MAYBE Picard, none of the characters were half as interesting as Spock/McCoy/Kirk/Scotty, and TOS never suffered from any pain in the ass Crushers. Crushers aside though, both are certainly great series, and I wish the new TNG Season 7 would hurry up and get here......

But what do I know? I think DS9 is the best out of all of them, followed by Enterprise..... :D/

Let's not kid ourselves, Friends was never good to begin with. It wasn't as bad as a lot of other comedies so I guess it looks good by comparison but rarely was it genuinely funny/witty/ect. I never watched beyond an episode or two of Joey so I can't comment on that.....

Friends really didn't seem to be as big or revered as some make it out to be but once it was announced it was ending everyone suddenly cared about it. I grew up watching NBC primetime shows and it seemed the only shows that got attention and were raved about were Frasier, Will and Grace and Seinfeld and Friends was popular but didn't get the attention like the others got. However once they approached their last two seasons and it was made known its days were numbered everyone seemed to go crazy about it.

Clearly not much if you think Enterprise is second best. "Let's rewrite all history while doing it badly and have the worst actors ever!"

You can't complain about TNG characters and then say you like Enterprise, which wasn't even called Star Trek until it was going to get canceled. You could have stuck up cardboard and gotten better performances out of them then the real cast. Enterprise made Voyager look good.

However Enterprise production values were amazing.

Friends was one of those shows everyone liked, but no one really wanted to admit too.

It was in the to ten shows for a decade, clearly people liked it, but you never really heard anything about it until the later seasons.

The only thing relevant to me regarding Friends is how much of a fox Aniston became after leaving the show. She reminds me of Dreyfus from Seinfeld...both look amazing now yet looked meh in the shows they were in. It was the 90s though I guess.

You are being way too hard on Enterprise. I'll admit a lot of the Temporal Cold War shenanigans weren't great, but listening to the commentary it's obvious why they had to go in that direction. The acting was fine (aside from Hoshi and Travis) and I loved how it fleshed out the Star Trek Universe. Season 1 and 2 had some fine episodes, but I'd say Seasons 3 and especially 4 were DS9 quality. Saying it made Voyager look good is just crazy talk..... Voyager was legitimately bad for a number or reasons, Enterprise is misunderstood and it was cancelled before it's time.

Aside from the Crushers I never meant to complain about any of the TNG casting.... I'm just saying TOS characters were more interesting. I'd argue the same thing for Archer, Trip, Malcolm, and Phlox as well. TNG was good, I really enjoy it, but the character interaction just wasn't as fun to watch..... and to be fair Wesley did drag it down some too.

Season 4 was the best because it was what the show should have been from the beginning, and it was done by Manny Coto who did the excellent and short lived Odyssey 5.

Season 3 just doesn't make sense, this huge war was about to happen, the planet attacked and it was never mentioned in the other Star Treks.  Plus the ship should have had a rotating ring.

And I still think the acting on Enterprise was horrible, but that's probably from the writing.

However can we both agree that Voyager is the worst Star trek?

Oh my yes, Voyager is the only Star Trek I'd consider legitimately bad..... well, not counting certain movies anyways.

Honestly I could never get into star trek to begin with, just was never feeling it
Boo. One of my favorite things about Futurama are all the Star Trek references.... especially how much Zapp plays off of Kirk. I know there's still tons to love about Futurama outside of that, but all the Star Trek jokes are really great.

Star Trek is much better on TV than on a screen.

Voyager is the only Star Trek that got worse as it went along, so as long as we agree it's bad I'm happy. I'm sick of people going "It's my favorite!" and I look at them like they said the world was flat. haha
