Gamestop PS3 and 360 trade in for up to 150 off new PS4

Weird that it's only towards PS4 and not Xbox One.  You'd think people trading in their 360 would be getting the X1.

Just gotta return the PS4 and get an X1. But yah odd promotion.

I also am wondering if I should get rid of my gears 360..
Honestly with Halo MCC coming out, I'm hoping they bring out a Gears Trilogy remake as well and then I won't need the 360 at all.

Not really. Sony even said a good chunk of PS4 buyers didn't own a PS3 last gen. The PS4 has replaced the 360 in the US as the defacto console to own so it makes sense to market to those consumers.

I think they've had some deals before where it was just Xbox One and not PS4. Now it's PS4's turn (and I'm pretty sure they've also had some periods where the trade-in bonus was good for BOTH next-gen systems anyway).

Perfect timing. This offer goes through the release date of the PS4 destiny bundle.  :D/

I almost have to get it now, that's more than full value for a PS3. If I "wrap up" my backlog on 360, I wonder if I could trade in both systems to apply $300 towards PS4? I assume these deals usually only allow you to do offer at a time?

Hmmmm. Should I trade in my PS3 and/or 360? I still play them more than my PS4 and Wii U, but I'd love to get a One... I know I won't be able to get this much next year.

i would dump them both with the wii-u to get a xbox one. unless you have the $330 version xbox 360 bestbuy offered before,

Nah, I say keep the Wii U and wait on the xbox one if you have to play it's exclusives. Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash Brothers, and Bayonetta are coming out this year.

Not being a fanboy...I'd recommend the same if he had an XB1 and was looking to get a PS4.

Most anticipated games are coming from both console and the few exclusives might be worth waiting to see a Black Friday deal.

I like the XB1 but I really think I should have held out for Microsoft to release a slim edition X_X

agreed, right now is the wrong time to ditch the wii u. i would also hang on to your ps3 since japan is still releasing games for that system plus it can do a lot of stuff and play a lot of games (although mine's BC and yours might not be)

I had a 360 and PS3 that I rarely played, traded in games with the 50% bonus and ended up paying 100 out of pocket for the PS4 and Madden. Worked out for me.

How is it fraud when they test the system to see if it works? I've heard of them taking broken systems but what about ylod systems?

Don't mind them. I know when people troll, lol. No. They shouldn't take in YLOD, but extreme YMMV. If the system turns on, but doesn't read, they might or might not hit you with a refurb fee..

And other people got them to do it also. But if you follow the gamestop thread and this one it's not supposed to apply the bonus for both. I'd imagine it was easier for the gamestop you were at find it easier to override since you were trading in the cheaper versions. Just like any other promo that is supposed to work a certain way it's ymmv.

Fraud is alive & well. Thanks for asking lol
Hey Howie learn to read. Mine was a legitimate question about the purchase of a PS4. I don't do much business with GS and just wanted to know if they do not charge state tax on this trade transaction like with other trades.

The add doesn't specify which model of PS3 gets the 150$ trade-in, it just mentions hard drive size. So if I traded in a working  PS3 phat (the software ps2 backwards compatible model) with a 160gb hdisk would I get the 150$? I wish the ad was more clear.

May be a dumb question, but does this require you to trade in the console and buy the same day? I.e. could I put the $150 towards the ps4 and pay off the rest in a few weeks?

Got some bills to take care of before I can buy a ps4, but $150 is $40 more than what best buy is offering

Stop trying to justify fraud.

Has anyone traded in an original 360 with a 250gb+ hdd? If I do end up doing this trade in, I'd like to get a larger hard drive for my 360 to get the $150 trade in value.

This stuff makes me tired. My gamestop's manager let me trade in a 360 with most of my games, buy a PS4 I never touched, return it and put it all on a PS4 destiny bundle pre-order. I'm not sure what will happen on the tax end but I'm pretty sure that varies by state.

Nah, they go by the model number, at least for me they did. I had a 340 GB in mine, but because it was originally an 80, I only got the 80

Can I trade this towards the Destiny PS4?
I went in today to trade in for a Destiny PS4. He could not get the PS3 trade in promo to apply to the preorder. Told me to apply my games and accessory balance towards the preorder. He said I could come in after 5pm day before release to apply the PS3 promo to Destiny PS4 so I wouldn't have to carry it up there at midnight launch.

Also you only pay tax for the portion paid in cash/credit. My final price after all trades and tax is $128. Not bad for what could have been $480. Too bad Kongregate coupon expires on the 7th it won't apply to any preorders so guess it will go towards some PSN or XBL credit.

I did this deal earlier. The guy that worked there was very nice. He let me trade in a PS3 and Xbox 360 for $300. I asked him about the 50% trade offer but didn't have a coupon. He went to the back and found one for me since I was trading in a bunch of games. All together I got $540 in credit. Way more than I thought I would. I got the PS4 and EA Sports UFC.

His question had nothing to do with fraud - they do take broken systems, it says right on the offer. Whether or not they take one with a serious defect like a YLOD is a legitimate question. He never said anything about pretending it was fully functional.

I plan on trading both my 360 and ps3 in for the $300. I already have an xbox one so I don't want any multiplatform games. Debating between getting infamous or The last of us. What do you guys think?
