XBL my points converted to cash expire next month need advice

So basically I had no idea my 400$ sitting in my XBL account  were going to expire until i got an email saying they were in a few weeks.   

My question -->   Is it possible to spend that money on accessories or games including disks(non digital download) ???

I tried to order from the store thinking I might get an option to pay via XBL account but nope.   I then called to try and complete my order and kept getting transferred until I was weak and tapped out.

I know there's plenty of peeps that have a similar issue,  please shed some light on this

That money can not be spent on physical items. You will probably have to just go on a spending spree in the XBOX marketplace. That is probably the only real option to avoid letting them expire.

Another option could be to contact Microsoft and explain your situation. Explain that you just got this notice and never had a clue until now, etc...

It might be a longshot but definitely worth trying to avoid having to blow that money.

Also, if you have a laptop with Windows 8.1 you can use that in their store.
