According to other stores/sites, the controller is supposed to release next week. However, multiple Walmart locations near me have plenty available to purchase already and I've already bought mine.
I'm not sure if Walmart had some sort of exclusivity time period or not (similar to Target's Crimson Red DS3 a while back) or if they actually stocked it over a week early, but either way it is available.
