The reason why this game gets bad reviews is because it is not a Front Mission game, its an Armored Core knockoff.
Story was interesting even if the characters are kinda flat, but I found gameplay and mech customization fun. Has Starfox assault-esque on foot missions which are awful, but overall I enjoyed it for what Ipayed ($20), and this is coming from someone who actually played the original front missions.
