Open the enclosure and put that drive into your ps4. Take the original one from your ps4 and put it inside the enclosure. For $100, you will get a 2tb HDD for your ps4(the cheapest standalone drive is the same drive but $160) and you will also get a 500gb external drive. I did this personally and it's so much better. I can not recommend it enough. There's a few other people on CAG that did this also.

Not sure if that particular one will work. From the reviews it seems possible. One thing to consider, if you buy the wrong one and doesn't fit, you can't just return it. Oncee you take the enclosure off, the warranty is void and you can't return it.

Just get the one from bby u only save a couple dollars but from bby u will get points

can the ps4 even detect all 2TB of that hdd? I thought i read somewhere it can only sense 1.5TB. correct me if i'm wrong.

You can trade stuff in to get it for free or cheaper there's also 10% off coupon

Yea it detects the full 2TB. After I installed it and put the PS4 Software back on it, it was around 1,760 GBs. Which is common in all drives and anything else with memory. For instance when you have just the brand new ps4, there's only 420gb free. Currently I'm sitting at around 1360GB free.

Another thing is the PS4 doesn't allow you to back up the original drive before you swap them out. You can do that in the PS3, so I'm sure eventually they will add that. You can back up your game saves to the cloud or a USB. And you have to have a fresh USB with the PS4 software on it, it's available on the official ps4 website. After you install the new drive, all of your games will need to be reinstalled or downloaded. It took me awhile to completely do this, considering I have 17 physical games and about 16(mostly from PS+) digital games. After that you need to download the updates for all your games, which the Ps4 will do on it's own.

Most games sit at around 20-50gb each. 1tb=1024gb but after you put it in the system, it will leave you with about 800-860gb left. The stock ps4 has 430gb free before you do anything.

As this Gen goes on, game sizes are going to start getting bigger. Smaller Indie games that were at one point under a gig are now going to be considerably larger in size. For instance most games that are coming out Oct/Nov are at least to be 40Gb+. Also the updates for games are also growing in size. Lords of the Fallen is going to have a Day One update that's 5gb. And it was just announced that The Master Chief Collection will have a 20gb Day One Update. Do yourself the favor and get the bigger drive. Even if you have to wait until you can purchase it. Why spend $80 on 1tb, when you could double that for only $20.

Just my opinion though. I know on the PS3, I hated having to constantly pick which game I wanted to delete, just to install new ones, especially with PS+.

tried a 2TB and it would not load the install. Tried and tried said that it was corrupted file or wasn't the right update so I gave up on it.

Did you download the latest firmware on a PC and put it onto a USB drive? On the USB drive you have to make a folder named PS4 and inside that have a folder named Update and put the update file inside of it.

There's also two files you can download just the update or the full firmware, you need the full firmware one, it's bigger. Hope this helps.
