Has Amazon changed customer service?(first awful experience)

CAGiversary!
Been using Amazon for years and never had a bad experience with them. I placed an order of multiple items with free shipping so I could get it over $35, and when you do free shipping with Amazon(not Prime) they take like a week to actually ship out your items.

In the mean time, while I'm waiting, one of my items was like $25 and it dropped to $16, so I contacted Amazon customer service to see if they could adjust the price.

First of all, to start, instead of the Amazon chat being like:

Susan: "Hello, this is Susan! How may I help you today?"

It was:

Amazon.com: "What's the order number?"

Just from that, I kind of got a weird vibe to start off the chat. So I pointed out the item price change, so I mentioned the price change, and I said I have some questions about it too, because I wasn't sure how the order system works and if the price change would take me out of free shipping(it was close, by a matter of cents) and if the CS rep could adjust it anyway or if they would have me put another item in the order if it went under the $35 mark, or if it wouldn't let them adjust it altogether. I had a bunch of questions.

So the CS rep just goes "I adjusted your price. Anything else?"

I check my order and they charged me for shipping now, and I end up paying $6 more than I did in the original order BEFORE the price adjustment.

So I say to the CS rep(politely I may add): "Sorry, but the price adjustment has charged me for shipping now, so I am actually paying more now than before I talked to you."

They respond: "You asked for a price adjustment, you got a price adjustment."

I'm thinking to myself that this is not the Amazon customer service I know. They should have warned me before hand or something. So I ask them if they can add an item to the order to get the free shipping back. They say respond:

"I tried, but received an error. Anything else?"

They didn't even tell me what the error was. I asked them what it was and they said my order has already entered the shipping stage. So now I'm annoyed. I tell them basically, all I got out of this chat was me losing $6. They respond again with the "You wanted a price adjustment, sir."

I just said, you know what? Can you cancel the order for me? They again gave me an attitude. Anyway, to wind it down I just ended up cancelling. I have no idea what the hell that was all about, but that was the worst customer service experience I EVER had with Amazon. Usually it's so smooth, they are very cordial, polite and they explain everything they do.

What the hell was up with that? A bad CS rep, or is Amazon cutting down on their customer service? I thought they were very hardcore about that and trained their reps well?
