play my first round of wvw today.
having 3 teams is a terrible idea.
after a day full of losing every objective, we were sieged on both sides by each of the other 2 servers cutting supply on either side and not fighting each other.
we were then spawn camped and i presume it is still happening. there is literally nothing you can do.
i'll play it for the monthly achievement but otherwise it is inferior in every way to structured pvp for anyone who likes balance.
also i'm really fucking bitter that engineer's are worthless in pvp and wvw doesn't give you free gear so i'm pretty much forced to play as my engy.
It's just not balanced well at all with regards to how much damage is going out period. When you have ballistas/cannons hitting for 5k, arrow carts making it rain, player damage, AND my biggest gripe. . .PvE in my PvP all doing damage, you can feel pretty insignificant in the war machine. I feel just as worthless in the grand scheme because gear, skill, level: none of it matters when you're facing a zerg.
For whatever reason I decided to give crafting a go last night and next thing I knew I was 400 LW/JC and decking myself out in better gear at 2am lol. I don't even know why I was theorycrafting with my character, but man it felt good. I just wish there was something of equal challenge in the game to test the gear on. I really started to get deep into weapon sigils and I don't think they're as cut and dry as one would think. For example, by default you only attack with your MH weapon until using 3, 4, or 5. Some sigils give what appear to be a passive increase, like 5% crit, but when you apply this to your OH weapon it does NOT appear on the paper doll. Leads me to believe the bonus is only when attacking with that weapon, because I swapped it into the MH slot and had the same result.
That or it's just a bug because this game has plenty. Still, they need to be more clear with just how this stuff works. For now, unless you're using your OH actively, it's probably best to just slot it with your favorite orb assuming it's level 80. Gives a clear advantage to DW characters since you can have a proc sigil in the MH and a stat orb in the OH. Seems very unbalanced given proc's are based on weapon speed and some have no ICD. I really want to test sigil of earth because bleeding stacks in intensity and dagger is extremely fast.
I really need a theorycrafting site to pop up because there's clearly a lot of imbalance here to take advantage of.
