How Does One Open Up A .sit File on a Windows Computer?

hiccupleftovers

CAGiversary!
I posted this in the OTT awhile back but never got any response (I did a small search so don't blame if it was responded to). I've done a Google search and haven't really found anything, just more questions. Thanks in advance guys.
i think winRAR can do it. Great little unzip unstuff utility.

or Stuffit Expander for windows. Their company, Aladdin, makes the .sit files.
Actually I tried to do with WinRAR, but it can't associate the .sit file with it or just can't open it. Then again, I could be doing something wrong and there is some simple way of going around it and opening it that I'm missing.

I've seen the Stuffit Expander from searches, but after reading reviews of it and people from computer forums, many say to be extremely wary of it as it can sometimes out of the blue associate itself with nearly every file on your computer and subsequently ruin them.

Edit: And with this a post, a bump.

After some research and a brief email to Aladdin, the ONLY way to open a .sit file through windows is by using Stuffit Expander. Apparently the compressions uses some proprietary techniques to which they retain the code.

So... d/l StufExpand or don't open em :p
