GA CAG's, represent...

Alright, finally a CAG close to me! Blues, you can come down and play GGXX with me sometimes. I promise not to kidnap you and hold you for ransom.

In case you Georgia CAGs don't know, there is 1 Fry's in the state. They usually have good deals on new releases (most often $10 off list price) and show up weekly on the Deals Forum. The store is in Duluth off I-85 north of Atlanta. Last time I was there I got Trauma Center, Castlevania DS, and DDS2 for the same price as in this thread. I wanted to see if this store would have the same price cuts as the 20 or 30 stores on the west coast. I know Best Buys is usually YMMV and decided to see if Fry's is equally messed up. Looks like Fry's has their act together when it comes to coordinating prices nationwide. I'm glad that 1 1/2 hour drive wasn't wasted. I even managed to pickup the last copy of Trauma Center.

I posted this in the other thread but they are suppose to build another Fry's at Alpharetta next year. Hopefully this means they plan on expanding on the east coast.

That's all I can think of right now. I'll post more if I see anything.

When people ask where you are from, do you all say Atlanta? just curious. It seems as if Atlanta has about 150 mile suburb circufrence where everyone in it claims to be from the city.

If someone is from out of state I just say Atlanta. In state, Woodstock. That's the north-si-yeed.

BTW, why doesn't everybody just put their town in their profile? It make things real easy, especially when someone's talking about a great deal in their area then don't say where they live.
Checking in, Norcross GA in the house.
Norcross here, too... love the 3 Targets that are in a triangle around Peachtree Corners :)
The Cumberland Mall store was listed on KB's website as the only Atlanta store.
It is the only Atlanta store - there's no KB at Lenox or stand-alone strip mall. North Point, Mall of GA, and Arbor Place still have KB's, but those aren't Atlanta zip codes :). The Norcross store in the Forum closed, but it never had anything good. The Vid Game section might've been the most pathetic one I've ever seen before it shut its doors.

I am here in North Carolina, but I lived an Alpharetta during a semester of college in 2000. DeVry sucks. But alpharetta is awesome. And so close to Turner Field.

Woodstock here...

Here is a breakdown of 2 lesser known chains in the ATL I go into quite a bit.

Rhino - If you haven't visited one yet you should. They have a trade 2 for 1 new up to $50 game deal going on all the time that isn't bad. The 2 games you trade have to be worth $10 credit each or they have to sell them on the wall for $24.99. There are several at GR you can picked up with your credit to trade in for a brand new game at Rhino. Last week I know BloodRayne 2, Jade Empire, Doom 3, Conflict Vietnam, Area 51 and Terminater Redemption all worked for the xbox. Most of those titles can be had used for $9.99-$19.99 at GR plus there is the 25% off going on used titles. Seems to be easier to find xbox games to trade then GCN or PS2. There are about a dozen in GA www.rhinovideogames.com and they are owned by Blockbuster. All they sell are new/used games for any system made. Therefore its a nice place to look for older titles as well.

Movie Trading Company - Another blockbuster owned chain. Only 5 stores in ATL area. They seem to offer great trade for most games. They will pay cash or credit. D2R2 still gets $20.25 credit there if you want to avoid taking them to GR. Right now they have a good sale going on 5 selected games for $20 I posted the info in a thread today. Plus they even will give you .90 credit for each old VHS tape you have laying around. Games usually are overpriced, but they constantly markdown some titles to move it out and they have a nice selection of new/used dvds. Most of the time I dumped unwanted items here and pick up used TV series box sets.

Don't waste your time at KB's in ATL.

There isn't anything worthwhile at Cumberland or North Pointe. One of the employees at North Pointe who does the markdowns picks through it all before it hits the shelf. I know because she told me when I was in there for the last markdown and there was only 1 copy left of Ratchet. Cumberland mall has very few video games in general.

My guess would be the Hiram Outlet could be worthwhile if anyone lives out that way...

Cool, thanks for the update.

I'm coming up to Atlanta this weekend and I was wondering if there are any good places to check out for games and DVDs. Thanks for the info on the Cumberland Mall & KB Toys. I was wondering how good that Movie Trading Company is. Do they have any deals like B2G1 Free and are the prices reasonable? It sounds like a version of MovieStop that's down here in Florida (Gamestop-like layout that just deals w/ movies & buys back VHS tapes for around .50).

Movie Trading is just like Movie Stop, but Movie Trading has CD's & Games as well. Prices on used games aren't good at all. Its the occasionally deals like the new $5.99 games that are decent. Used DVD prices are pretty good. Best items I found lately have been 24 season 1 for $24.99 and entourage season 1 for $16.99.

Overall there really isn't alot to go check out right now. Some targets still seem to have a few decent clearance games around here, but the clearance markdowns took place 10 days ago.

Basically looking at tons of Gamestops, EB Games, and Rhinos if you are hundting for some games...

Thanks for the info kjauburn, its always helpful to get a heads up from someone who knows the area. There is a lot of EB's and GS around Atlanta and if I get some time I'll probably go and check out a few.

Sandy Springs/Buckhead here, about 5 minutes from Lennox/Phipps. You know, given how many of us are in the area, maybe we should organize a CAG-GA meet-up? I'd definitely be up for it.

I'm also in Atlanta (grad school at GaTech) ... live right in the middle of town.

I went to the KB in Cumberland the day the sale went up... only walked away w/ Spiderman 2 DS - not worth the trip.

So, Atlantans and Decaturites, where are the best places to find good used stuff and cheap stuff?

My usual spots are Target, Fry's, Best Buy, and Circuit City (for clearance and sales). I've only been in ATL for a year and haven't been to many Gamestops or EBs. There are a ton of them here, so which are the "best" EBs and Gamestops? I live over in East Atlanta and the new EB they opened off Moreland is small and pretty limited as far as selection.

I've only been to the one TRU by Lenox and it was pretty crappy too.

Are there Rhino stores here?

Smyrna CAG'er here

I live very close to Cumberland Mall and the KB Toys store there is a joke - The Gamestop in Cumberland Mall is OK - The electronics deparment in Sears at Cumberland Mall has a clearance bin with with some GBA games at $4.99 - I remember seeing:
Elf
Super Mario
Donkey Kong
Some GBA videos I am not sure which ones
Maybie one or two more GBA games and that was about it.

I do remember seeing in the glass case the GBA game Zelda the Minish cap for $19.99 - there was only one and it was there yesterday.

There are Rhino's but they are all out in the suburbs. Check there website to see what is close to yor. Still have the trade 2 games for 1 new one going on as always. Some nice cheap xbox games qualify like Bloodrayne 2, conflict vietnam, etc. As always if they are selling it for $24.99 used it qualify's. Plus they have occasional buy 2 used get 1 used free weekends. Seems to happen about once every 6 weeks. They did one last weekend and I didn't find out until Sunday, but DS games were include. Basically walked out with 3 of the newer DS games for $40.

Love hitting Fry's, but its about a 45 minute drive for me. However I found Disgaea and Gitaroo Man there last weekend.

Toysrus game areas are all pretty much trash because of the new ownership cutting hours. I found the Gwinnett mall one to have a nice stop when I hit Frys. They always seem to have some of the harder to find RPG's including all the Atlas released games...

EBGames are all over the place and overall they are helpful. Anytime I am looking for a game you can get them to check the entire district from one store. I was able to track down a nice copy of Ikaruga for $24.99 this way.

All the circuit city stores seem to blow. Targets in the suburbs seem to be on a slower market down cycle then the deals seen posted all the time. Super Targets are definitely on a slower cycle. Some of the stores closer into the Perimeter seem to drop faster and weeks ahead of time.

As I said before the 5 movie trading company's are hit or miss. They are either overpriced or have some good deals, but the trade credit is good. BTW I just found a new copy of Growlanzers Deluxe Box set markdown to $19.99 form $69.99 at MTC the other day....

As you can tell I spent most of last Saturday hunting....

BTW if anyone is camping for a xbox 360 head to the Best Buy in Alpharetta. I am not planning on getting one myself, but I was curious and looked over the numbers hitting the ATL stores. Alpharetta had 128 premiums and 42 core. Compared to Towncenter getting 60 something total.

Rebecca!!!!!! GORGIA!! Check a map....check the population, wonder how many cags are around here.....????

I'm currently revamping the game section at the Kennesaw CC. I'm getting everything reorganized, alphabetized and repriced. Hopefully everything will be done in about a week. If there is a game you're looking for call 770/590-8544, press 0 and ask for Jason in games. DO NOT mention CAG. There are some people here who are not fans of the site. I'll see if I can locate it. Considering how busy I'm going to be for the next 2 months I probably won't be able to ship it but I can hold it for a day or two if you want to come get it. I don't really have any rare games but give me a call if I can help. I don't work Sundays, Thursdays or Fridays.

Great to hear there is actually a CC employee there that gives a damn about the video games. I am always amazed how trashed the section is at any CC. You would think with the floorspace it has they would keep it merchandise right and in order. If you find a .Hack part 3 or 4 for the PS2 when you start to fix the area let me know. At least now I know there is a employee who cares over there and I will give the store another shot sometime.

I don't have any of the .hack games, unfortunately. The last couple of clearance sales have helped clear out a lot of inventory. Let me know if there's anything else.

If you have a Media Play near you check out the $8.99 sale going on. Swung by the Media Play at North point today and they had over 100+ titles for $8.99. There is a thread discussing the titles in the Deals Forum. Buddy of mine said the Johnson Ferry Media Play has a nice selection as well. Need to hit it in the next few days though since I saw a guy buying about 150 games at the Northpoint location. If nothing else it may be a great time to pick up some gifts...
