I turned on google image ads in the forum header as I want to check 'em out and because they are context sensitive, there is really no other way to effectively test them except for in a live environment.

Of course the first ad I saw was for some GBA Flash linker bullshit which I immediately put on the block list (there is probably an hour or so delay before the block becomes effective.

I don't know if I will keep the image ad option turned or not, but I would like to test them out.

Thanks!

Roms are illegal, so obviously a site like this is not going to support them.

Meh. I'll hand this one to you.

I was wondering why I saw ads in the header. They look funny up their but if it is another way to keep the site going I welcome the change.

Man, do I feel lame.

And here I thought this would be a thread about posting weird things just to eff with the google ads... and on that note:

banana pumpkin pirate zombies!! :D

I hate to say this, but the picture ads actually make the site look more "official". I'll try to click on some of the ones that look legit that way you get some yen.

Just so you know, there are still GBA flash ads. And I'm sure this didn't help.

On that note...

hardcore midget DVD webcam adult prescription viagra.

Looks good, Cheapy, and they're not too big, which helps make it easy to deal with them.

I like the single graphic ad on the top better than the horde of 3-4 text ads at the top.

And to Z-Saber, because flash carts can be used to do illegal activity, even though that's on the intent of the person who has it, we don't allow them to be sold here. Along with other items in the same boat, that their legal usage is in the decision of the user.

These ads are hi-larious!

Do you think YOU could beat Halo 2??!!?!

Yes or No?
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Although we have similar traffic numbers to sites like joystiq, kotaku, gaming-age, and the like, I feel we do not get the respect that they have, and I'm sure that part of the reason is that you don't see graphic ads here.

Anyway, I'm just testing this stuff out so we will see how it goes.

And no, I haven't beat Halo 2 yet...

Not trying to be argumental, a jerk, etc., but what about those GBA movie players that Red Octane was selling during that sale a few weeks ago? Likely the movies people put on it are downloaded, and it had that NES game feature. I think that's slightly less than legal.

Heck, PSPs and Xboxs are giant emulators waiting to happen.

I totally understand not advocating or allowing flash cart purchasing, but where do we draw the line for illegal activity garnering devices, even if it isn't their primary purpose?

Hey, if Nintendo doesn't mind, I sure don't.

Back on topic, I sure don't see a lot image ads being displayed. Maybe I'll try turning it on in the other locations too.
I actually started playing the campaign again yesterday.
I think I can do it! :bouncy:
I'm about halfway through my first run on Legendary. Those one-shot Jackal snipers can be a bitch!

Anyway on the ads, I noticed them, but I don't mind. I don't think it detracts from the site's design or content in any way.

I think its quite easy for any logical person to realize the difference between a PSP and an Xbox as compared to a GBA flash cart. Where the PSP & Xbox can be used for emulation, that isn't their primary use for most purchasers... whereas a GBA flash cart will be used for illegal activities more often then not.

BTW, due to the reverse engineering clause of the DMCA, GBA flash carts may very well be illegal in and of themselves.

Oh noes! Can't sell blank CD's either! A blank CD will be used for illegal activities more often then not.

On the topic- Only 1 ad have I seen, and that would be the one for Toshiba laptops.
