really trying to find this game somewhere other than ebay since i dont like to use them.

i've looked in the obvious places like EB and GS, but have also looked at the smaller based websites like Gamequest and such, but not all of them to my knowledge.

most list it as out of stock and the really crappy sites dont list it as out of stock but it is and then you order it only to have to go through hell trying to cancel it because they're never getting more.

anyhow, if anyone knows where it still might be in stock new send me a PM or something, since i really want to try and get a copy.

i do currently have an order pending on a relatively shady website, but i somehow have my doubts that it's actually going to ship.
 
I'm in the same situation as you. Currently have an order pending with FYE but I know they aren't sending it. Game is supposed to be great and one of the main reasons I bought a DS. Maybe you and I will find it eventually. Good luck!

FYE is a pretty mainstream store for one.

and it actually does say "backordered" on their website, which basicaly confirms it's out of stock and not coming back.

the place i'm currently waiting on (as well as the couple others i found) is kind of shady, never heard of it before, they sell other odd items and they dont seem to indicate if an item is out of stock, or if they do i havent seen them do it anywhere on the site, so the game actualy appears in stock.

so right now i'm waiting for some kind of confirmation that they'll actually ship me the game, because if they ever respond to my emails confirming it isnt in stock i'm probably gonna cancel it.

i probably shouldnt have expected for anyone to help me here though, since if they knew of a place then they'd likely have already sucked the resource dry themselves (albeit i only want one copy for play, i'm not a hoarder), or if they were to tell me, and post it here it would have been wanged by the time i actually checked the link myself.

but there was always hope someone had the inside track on a site that had it in stock and hooked me up with a link for it.
 
Man am I glad I picked up that last copy in gamecrazy about 2 months ago...had no idea it'd be so hard to find later on.
 
ok question for yall, a source of mine just offered me the game for 45 bucks (but i have to pay for shipping too because he lives across the country).

should i take it? i mean, i dont like paying more for MSRP for a game, especially since the last time i did for Suikoden 3 they decided to do a reprint likem, the next month, so i was pissed.

so, people are sure that this is going away for good? so it's worth paying a 10 dollar premium to get it new?

-fyi, i wont even be playing it until late spring, since i'm buying the DS LITE (if that's when it comes out stateside), but that aint coming out for a while, it just seemed smart to get Phoenix Wright because it's just going to get harder to find.

meh, i dunno, i mean, it hasnt been common knowledge about their reprinting business until recently (or at least as far as i'm aware), but i'm just not sure if i should be counting on that to happen. besides i've only heard of them reprinting discs, not printing new runs of carts, or nintendo products in general.

not that doing reprints of nintendo carts is likely any different a situation, unless dealing with the nintendo plants is harder than sony, and are more expensive to make than the discs, then perhaps a reprint isnt likely?

anyhow, i still have the oppurtunity to get it for 45 plus shipping from a friend, i just would feel a little dumb if they did end up reprinting it, but i'm just not sure if thats gonna happen, the sudden discontinuation alone is a bit dubious, as i heard it was more than just a low print, that they actually halted it for somereason, leading me to beleive also for that reason that a reprint might not happen.

Well, since it has been showing up at EB for the Morning Update and all, I would probably recommend using that as your primary route for the time being. I don't know what the price was on there but even assuming $35 for a used copy you can then take off 25% and get free shipping so it would only run you around $27 after tax, which would be around half of what you would be paying your friend to pick up a copy for $45.
 
well firstly, if it's on the update thread that means it's likely out of stock and if it comes back i wont catch it against the people who check it regularly.

but if it was, it is used, my friends copy is sealed and brand new, keeping that in mind.

once i buy it it's over, i guess i just want to be sure a reprint doesnt happen like, next month....or by whenever the new DS comes out cause thats when i'll actually start playing DS games.
 
If you are lucky enough to have a Gamerush near by, check there.. for some reason every store (at least in this area, all five or six stores) received 1 copy which I assume was recently, because I bought the only copy they had months ago.
 
You should also check Gamecrazy if you have one nearby. When I went to one last week there was at least one and I think two copies there.
 
If you have a frys in your area you may want to check there. I think my fry's had like 5 of them in stock last week when i looked. I guess its not in that high of a demand in dallas.

But I did order when they said they had it in stock and they are not getting it back in anytime soon. Mainstream or not, I'm not getting the copy I ordered from FYE. I don't know how that is not a similar situation. We both ordered the game (albeit, from different places) and neither of us are getting it. Ebay is really the only resort if you can't find it locally.

again, we're not in the same situation. My place has no backorder notice and they're not as mainstream as FYE, meaning they either do have it cause no one looked there, or just too lame to list out of stock when they have no stock, and being as chintsy as they are i cannot get in any contact with them, unlike FYE.

so yeah, i'm still out on the 45 dollars +shipping deal i found through my friend.

who thinks i should take that? i mean, even if it's reprinted, i only payed a small premium to get a new copy now. I guess the only reason i'll be pissed if they print more later is that i wont even play the game until later because i'm waiting on the DS LITE to come out.
 
Your best chances are just to go to the stores and look. EBGames, GameStop, Game Crazy, Game Rush, and Fry's. They won't have them listed on the website, you're just gonna have to be lucky. I got mine from EBGames. It was a display copy, but that was fine by me. I stopped by a Game Crazy when I was back home for the weekend and they had a copy, but I passed on it because I already spent $80 that day.
 
I got mine from ----- but the site seems to be down right now. It cost $37.99 shipped. You may want to keep trying that link but I dont know if they still have any left.
 
still also cosnidering my friends offer, i mean it isnt too unreasonable so at least if they do get reprinted before i actually play it on my DS LITE i wont feel all that jipped for purchasing it now and being safe.

i think i may decide tonight whether to do it or not too.
 
It's a good game, but not more than $30 good. Also, as much as I loved it, I beat it in 2 days and would never look to play it ever again.

Eh, I dunno... I finished it back in November and I recently picked it up again to play a case.... I was amazed by the fact that I still enjoyed the case as much as I did the first time around... it's sorta like enjoying a good book again.
 
lol, i dunno, they're usually not used. albeit i have no doubt it would be cheaper, all the ones i've seen are either sealed, or near mint.

EB's price is like, 27 bucks or something....but i sincerely doubt it will ever be in stock long enough to matter.
 
okay, 'cause i just bought one off of ebay after seeing "new" in all of the right places (title and auction description) and seeing that it was $34.49 buy it now plus $3.49 s&h

it had just been put up with 6 days 23 hours 50 minutes or something left

but now i see that the auction says "In brand new condition. Barely got the chance to play it. Has awesome reviews from many websites."

i messaged him to make sure everything was complete and in brand new condition...we'll see how this goes....he has 98.4% positive feedback with 62 reviews

some more research...looks like he bought it from somebody for $14.50 used back in november...it says in that auction that everything is intact and works like new but is in "used" condition

we'll see if this guy lies to me and tries to tell me he bought it new...i don't care if it's used, as long as it's in great condition

if it's not in completely mint condition, i will tell him to forget it...after all, you're not aloud to select "new" in the condition box on the auction if it's not sealed and has been used at all
 
just try and get some pictures of the material, if it looks good (and it has to work obviously) then everything should be fine.

i am not a collector, and i do want the game to play (albeit i wont have a DS until summer and i'm holding off buying any of the other less rare DS games i want) but i yet have this compulsion that i really like buying the game brand new.
 
I got mine from Play-Asia.com back in Novemberish and it was $29.90 new.

They seem to be out of stock now (big surprise) but it says *game will ship when new stock arrives*

*shrug*
 
Yea, everywhere i saw it (while it was in stock) it was $29.99 new. I managed to snag one a week ago with gamerush store credit, ebay'd it for $56.50 shipped.

Sad thing is that i did kinda want to play it. Maybe we'll see a reprint someday.
 
Your best bet is buy it now auctions as soon as they are listed, you may get lucky.
A new copy goes for 45-55. I've seen used complete copies go for as low as 30 recently, but are typically in the 40-50 range.
Ebgames.com will get some used copies in for pretty cheap for a split second at 7:00-7:45 AM sometimes, but you have to be ready to pounce.

i mean, i actually dont mind, i rarely have this much trouble finding a game and with these extenuating circumstances it seems a worthy price.

the only thing that irks me is if by the time i buy a DS LITE to play it that gamequest will have ran a reprint......

aside from the fact that they dont reprint every game thats hard to find, one reason i think it may not happen is that capcoms decision to stop printing was a bit abrupt, it wasn't just a small batch for an underestimated demand, it got rare VERY fast, i have this feelling the run got cut prematurely for some reason, that may meant GQD wont be able to get permission, assuming they ever do try.....what do yall think about that?
 
it all depends on who gives them the permission, i dont think theyll get publisher permission for Wright since i think there may have been a reason productio was literally halted for the title....and if i end up buying the game now, i'm hoping they dont (although as i've stated elsewhere i wont be furious if they did, just be a bit pissed i wasnt patient enough to wait).
 
You might check your Game Stop store locator/inventory. I picked a new copy up at GS this past weekend for $29.99 (you know what "new" means to them) but it is mint anyways.

There are 3 showing up used within 40 miles of me but unfortunately the closest one is 25 miles away - 50 miles round trip is usally a bit out of my hunting range but I'll try and get by that store this weekend. Will call them tomorrow and put a hold on it of they still have it.

If I am able to hold that copy I'll PM you tomorrow morning.

I got lucky. I bought one sealed for 29.99 at Gamestop. OP, or any other interested party, if you live in Mesa, AZ, the Gamestop on Greenfield Road has at least the display copy, if not more.
Give them a call and check.

Is waiting an option for you? I mean, since you are getting the ds in March you have a month to check local stores and be on the hunt.

BUT 10 dollars + shipping more than MSRP (assuming 35 MSRP) is not a bad deal when you consider the hassle of looking for this game.

I say, if you absolutely need the peace of mind of having the game in your possesion in order to play it the moment your DS lite gets to you, then you should go ahead and buy it from your source.

Splurge a little on yourself! I know this is CAG and most of us aren't rich, but if you are going to stress out about it and take on a campaign of searching websites, calling local stores, and driving around you are losing something more precious than money, time. In the end the 10-15 dollars extra is well worth the time you will save.

Exactly. There's countless games that I would've gone crazy over if I kept trying to find a deal. I've spent upwards of $60 on a game before and been damn happy about it just because I finally had the game.
 
I thought it was great - not DS game of the year, but definitely in my top five. Especially the last case. Considering the amount of time I spent with the game - I'm guesstimating at least 15+ hours, and you can save at ANY time - I'd recommend it at $50, but no higher.
 
keep looking, i got it mint used for 20.99 shipped. excellent game, but like the others are saying, i wouldn't plunk down anything over msrp.

yeah...you're right....and i had made up my mind to do so....but DAMNIT if my friend already got rid of it, i waited too long.....but now i'm determined, if i can get it at around 40ish new, that i will, so if any of my other collector friends get one i'll give him the same offer.....boy.....now i feel even WORSE that i didnt just do it a day or so ago.

the "yeah the small extra is worth saving me the hassle of physically going around store to store" logic was sound, i should have just gone with it for once, even if it gets reprinted, which for this game i really dont think it will, i wont be kicking myself over 10 more bucks, just so i could have the one game that might be totally unfindable by then.

mind you on the internety alone i've gone through alot of hassle already, looking from the big stores, to GQD and the CAG'ish type places, all the way down to the ultra shady websites....hell i even have an order pending at some shitty walmart knockoff place called "targetstar.com".....and i'm betting it's never gonna be sent and they were just too cheap to have a stock meter for their products....or a phone number and valid email address for that matter.

anyhow........just like when i returned Suikoden 2 when my parents bought it for me back in 2001 for Hanukah and then went through hell to buy it 3 years later for a reasonable price, so too will i dominate this situation, and do it NOWISH!

-fyi, waiting was only not feasible because every month i waited it would get even HARDER to find....elsewhise i'm holding off buying the other DS games i want (Castlevania, Bubble Bobble, Trauma Center even) because i can likely get those whenever the DS lite comes out.

mind you that date is not march though, as i'm in the US and woudl likely wait for the american release, which so far is rumored some months after that.

i took a swing by ebay and was able to get it for 39.99 plus shipping (brand new factory sealed too), so in the end i got to pay 5 bucks less than i had planned with my friend.

i almost feel like posting it in the bragging rights forum, although i'm betting no one would be impressed.
