Circuit City's near Pittsburgh, PA

Never spent too much time in the five years I spent in Pittsburgh in Circuit City but, if you absolutely have to make a trek, perhaps the Monroeville one would be more interesting? I never really found anything I was looking for in either but at least the EB and GameStop over in Monroeville Mall eased the pain when I struck out on things. That and, if the Suncoast there is going out of business, you can at least hit up the mall a few minutes away in case CC turns out to be a bust. *Shrugs*
I don't know...personally, I never really found too many exciting deals when it came to sale time in Pittsburgh save for a few Best Buys, but I wasn't necessarily looking every week.

Here's a short synopsis, depending upon where you are. Remember, mileage may vary. I went to CMU so...take that for what you will.
(Ross Park Mall Area)
Used to be insanely accessible with various bus routes going there every day of the week and a special line on Saturdays, now takes several transfers. Not really worth going to unless you own a car/can hitch a ride with a friend. Fairly decent mall, has an EB and a GameStop although the EB tends to be the one with the good stock in games. The Media Play has since gone out of business (they were decent for what they had) and I think the Suncoast there is also going out. Food court is above-average, though, but don't expect to find any restaurants in the mall since it's kind of small.
Outside of the mall there are your standard large stores like Best Buy and Staples and the like. The Best Buy there is above-average, last time I checked, but it's a bit difficult to get to. Circuit City should also be around average or so. If you're going to make a day of standard "big business" shopping and whatnot, the area is serviceable but once you get outside of the main shopping area there's not too much nearby.
(Robinson Town Mall/Center)
Still easily accessible without a car if you don't mind a 50 minute ride on a 28X line to the airport. The only problem is that you will have to walk once you get there, meaning the best you can do game-wise is get off across the street from the GameStop in the shopping center across the way from DSW and Ikea. Hitting the mall from there wouldn't be hard since it's around a seven minute walk but hitting up the great stuff like the Barnes and Noble and the EB right by it would probably take around a good 15 to 20 minutes depending upon traffic and whether or not you like getting hit by a car.
Otherwise, it depends. The EB outside of the Mall itself was absolutely sickening every time I went in there. The fact that they had massive amounts of SNES games, NES games, Genesis games and a whole PILE of NES Zappers made me cry about a year and a half ago. I'm sure they are cleaned out of that stock by now since they had amazing gems and a 50% off sale at the time but it was a solid store, through and through. The Barnes and Noble up there is excellent, and I've heard that most of the businesses there are worth hitting up if you need something since they tend to be above-average at the least.
The Mall itself...hard to say. I prefer the area outside of the mall, personally, especially because the places to eat around there are amazing. The Mall is above-average but if you're looking for games and electronics you may be better suited outside of the mall. There are some quality stores inside, though, so you may want to give it a shot, especially when sales hit.

Hmmm...this is hard. On one hand, the Monroeville Mall has been good to me as far as gaming goes. However, outside of that, they don't really have all that much to offer. The Best Buy is pretty good right by the mall and bus lines hit up Monroeville fairly often and easily. Personally, I find the area around Monroeville to be more interesting since there are a wealth of interesting shops and stores that tend to be above-average in quality. There's also a killer Italian bakery (albeit with NY/LI-style prices) by around the "Plum" exit or so as you start to leave the civilization that is Monroeville. The Sam's Club there is also quite nice if you have the storage space for non-perishables and the dining is very good.
(Century III Mall)
One of the few malls left in Pittsburgh with an arcade but it's hard to really call a hole in the wall much of an arcade. Interesting architectural design to the mall but overly disappointing. It could really use a facelift and, quite honestly, most of the stores within the mall could be far better than what they are. I've really only visited one worse GameStop in my entire life so that's saying something. Not because of the service or whatnot but because the prices were outrageous (I really hope they just didn't bother re-stickering items) and what they had in stock was laughable. The surrounding area seems fairly decent but it's really not worth the trip. Problem is that a few bus lines will take you there fairly easily so if you happen to really, really need to get out and pick up something important it may be the most accessible option.
There are a few other major shopping areas but they are a bit more remote and would take multiple bus transfers or well over an hour and a half each way in order to reach. And, just to let you know, going by car means you can reach most of these places within 20 to 30 minutes without a problem so if you have to take a bus bring some work to do or something to read.
Wish I could be more specific about stores and what they offer but I haven't been to most of them in well over a year, outside of the shopping area that lies beyond Mt. Lebanon. That one is pretty decent but I imagine that the Toys R Us has long since been cleared out by locals, although the Book Revue usually has some gold lying around the store. I think there's a mall up there as well, not to mention a Best Buy, but I haven't been. I was lucky enough to get out for that long when I was working up there anyway.
