We have discontinued the purchase of consumer electronics at the 7 participating stores (Burbank CA, West Covina CA, Fullerton CA, Joliet IL, Bloomingdale IL, Countryside IL, and Orland Park, IL). Based on the results of the test we will continue to buy and sell used Video games. We thank everyone who has participated in this test program for their interest and support.

Hopefully this means that every single Best Buy across the country will now buy games.
Hopefully this means that every single Best Buy across the country will now buy games.
I'd wager it's coming soon to the rest of the country. It'll certainly give the other chains a headache.

Special thanks to Damanthia for maintaining the list. SHE's doing us a great service. :applause:

The 3 Best Buys that I do trades at are not listed in the OP. Riverside, Moreno Valley and San Bernardino. All in California.

I'm definitely going to trade in some games I picked up during the TRU and Game Crazy sale.

I do think it's crazy, however, the the PS2 version of Metal Slug 4/5 gets in $30 credit while the Xbox version only gets $1... O___o

I take it everything is in store credit, not cash?

And shouldn't this be moved to the "Video Games" section?

About a week ago Donkey Konga was 7.50. At the time, they told me that they didn't take the bongos separately. I have a full-on DK party set to unload (4 bongos and Donkey Konga) but I'm not about to take the 5 bucks per bongo EB/Gamestop are offering.

Some of these prices are old, so at this point the PS2 version of Metal Slug may have dropped.

Everything is on a BB gift card, which is slightly different than BB store credit. If I remember correctly, you can buy a gift card with another gift card, but you cannot buy a gift card with a "store credit" card. I'm also not sure how reward zone points are awarded for "store credit" card purchases, but they are done normally for gift cards.

And I'm not positive where this belongs. The FYE and EB trade in related threads are in this section, so I believe this is where it's been decided these go.

From my experience, you get the RZ points when you make a purchase with the gift cards. That reminds me - I have a whopping five bucks to spend.

Hey, i'm planning on trading in some games at BB soon, but do they accept a game without its booklet/manual? Also, do they accept cart only GBA games?
Hey, i'm planning on trading in some games at BB soon, but do they accept a game without its booklet/manual? Also, do they accept cart only GBA games?
Cart only GBA games should be fine - I've seen them sold like that.

When in doubt, call your store! Some won't give trade-in prices over the phone, but I'm sure they'll discuss trade-in policies with you. Just ask for customer service.
call them and ask
Wow, thanks for the helpful advice, maybe I'll post here first, just in case and then call them when it's more convenient. Next time I'll check with you first before I ask a simple question.

That's a good idea.

Okay, okay - I was a bit smarmy. My apologies. Chances are that the stores themselves would know the answer better than one of us here. The first post in this thread has a list of participating stores. So if a store isn't listed in this post, your best bet is to call the stores in question. If they are participating, let us know!

I've updated the OP with the new prices posted, and those I've gotten in store. While there the other day, I also noticed that they have a promo going on: trade in 6 games worth more than $5, get a new game free (up to $59.99).

HOLY CRAP! When did that start? I suppose that's NOT in addition to your store credit.

Which BB do you frequent, Damanthia? There are three within an hour of me, but the Countryside one has the easiest route.

Edit: I should clarify - six games worth over $5 trade-in credit each.

I'm not sure when it started. I just noticed it on Sunday. I would guess this is NOT in addition to the credit given. I traded in a bunch of garbage not worth $5, so I didn't ask. I think the deals should be the same between all stores, but I'm not sure.

I usually visit the Bloomingdale store, since it's the closest, but I've also been down to Countryside a few times.

Something funny I noticed at the same time as the promo - there was a big sign next to the computer that they can only accept the second version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I asked the girl doing the trade-in if she knew why, but she had no clue.

That's due to the original being re-rated AO. Most retailers won't stock AO games.

Dude, props for the acknowledgement. :applause:I've been trapped at home for the last few days dealing with work b.s, but hopefully tomorrow I will see the light of day and stop by the store.

Im turning in Spy Fiction, TXR 3 and Cold fear for ps2 on friday so I can knock down SW:EAW down a bit. EAW, now thats a game to get.

I was refering to the fact that I didn't trade the camera, but they will take games without packaging, despite what the little pamphlet says.
Castlevania (GBA) $8
Metroid (GBA) $5
Wasn't sure which version these were, so I didn't add them. I'm guess classic NES version, but didn't want to add them until I checked.

Otherwise, the OP is up to date.

I was surprised at the Pinball Hall of Fame trade-in price, since they used to sell it for $4.99. Their logic still eludes me.

And as far as condition of stuff, they have GBA games loose, GC discs in a generic CD case, etc. I brought home one used game just to discover that they had obviously not even checked the disc condition... It reminded me of the CDs that we used to play office hockey with... Hideous scratching/pitting, and a nice big crack mark.

I've learned to check disc condition before leaving the store when buying their used stuff. I think that as long as there is something close to a disc or cartridge, they'll buy it.

And to get prices - some stores will give them out over the phone, but usually just walk in and ask. I've had them check stuff by name, and by bringing it in, so both seems to work.

Here's some values I forgot to post when I traded them in on 2/8

PS2

nba 2k3- 2.00
sled storm- 4.00
I Ninja- 7.50
Monster Rancher 3- 7.50
R Type Final- 8.00
Mega Man X7- 9.50
Samurai Legend Musashi- 9.50

XBOX

Rogue Ops- 3.50
Gunvalkyrie- 4.00
Call of Duty:Finest Hour- 7.50
NBA Street Volume 3- 14.00
Battlefield Modern Combat- 22.00

Monster Rancher 3 went down, then, because I got $16.50 for it about a month ago. $7.50 is too little for it, unless you got it from the CC clearance of course.

Traded in at White Marsh MD Best Buy:

Eyetoy Groove (no camera) (PS2)- $7.50
Battlebots Design and Destroy (GBA) - $4.40
Amped 2 (XB)- $6.50
Texas Hold 'Em (GBA)- $8.25

Anyone know the current trade in values for:

Xbox - X-men legends II (I saw it on the list but it might've changed by now)
Wow! Did you trade all of that in? If so, what was the employee reaction?

Looks like the $41.50 for 360 games is over...
i traded in 32 of them

i had been trading at game rush exclusively but ever since their pre-order deals have dried up i have lost the motivation to accumulate credit there

best buy was very cool, i went in with upc bar codes that i printed up for the games (i left the games in the car) and they were able to quickly give me prices which i jotted down, i then perused the values over lunch and made my decisions on what to give up, i think they are in a phase where they are happy to increase the size of their used game inventory

i mainly feel bad that the OP has some serious updating to do lol :)

Puyo Pop Fever for the Gamecube is now down to $4.00.
Donkey Konga 2 with Bongos is $30 and I believe Jungle Beat with the Bongos is $31.50.

Just came back from the West Covina BB and the trade-in values for these are:

x-box
X-men Legends II - $12
Hulk:Ulitmate Destruction - $18
