Do you know much about either fighter?

Kimbo is an underground streetboxer, and Gannon is an MMA fighter. Kimbo only fights under specific rules that only allow for stand-up punching. Had this been under MMA rules, Gannon would have absolutely obliterated Kimbo in a matter of seconds.

Still, Gannon beat Kimbo at his own game. Very good brawl, though.

I like Thiago Alvez but he is still learning very good fighter IMO. Also Nick Diaz i like how he fights and his ground game its great. I'm going for Andrei he made Tim silvia look like an ass the first time around.

In no way is Gannon an MMA fighter. The only reason he got that 1 fight deal in the UFC cause of the underground fight that he had with kimbo. He came in fighting in the UFC and got his ass beat down. He made it look like a blood sport cause he couldn't defend himself. He's just some cop from Boston. There was a lot of bad publicity regarding that one UFC event that he fought in. Dana White had them take it down from their site and censored it from all the mma sites.

Did you even watch the underground brawl video? You don't even know what you're talking about. Gannon was kneeing Kimbo in the head a few times and Kimbo's team starting whining. Kimbo's team stated, "No kneeing in the head." This is any other "street fight" not even close to MMA. Gannon got in trouble with his police department back in Boston.

You really need to rewatch that fight,, Both guys were winded pretty quickly.. The fight was ok, nothing special.. They both need to work overtime on thier cardio,, Mainly the Black dude,,

So which organization do you guys prefer - UFC or Pride?

I'll be honest, I've watched UFC ever since I was a kid and have never really ventured to watch anything else until recently. And the Pride fighters really have impressed me a lot.

I love Arlovski, Liddell, Tito and Hughes, but I honestly don't think the UFC elite could hang with the likes of Cro Cop, Fedor, Rampage, Sakuraba and many others.

I've been watching videos of all those Pride fighters I listed, and I think everyone of them would pretty much walk through any of the UFC talent.

Oh yeah another question, do you guys think Sakuraba could have beaten Rickson Gracie had the two ever fought?

Sakuraba would beat Gracie. I think Sakuraba would be too creative for Gracie.

I prefer Pride, I am not a huge fan of the cage. Alot of people use it too much, to me it takes away the purity of the moves and styles.
If you've never seen it, this is Chuck Liddell getting his ass handed to him by Rampage. I didn't think Rampage would be so dominant, but once he got Chuck on the ground, alll the Iceman could do is eat wicked elbows to the ribs over and over and over...

I actually watched that fight this weekend. I was surprised, too. It would be really interesting if a couple of the Pride elite came over to the UFC for a little while and cleaned house.

Christ watching Chuck's ribs get worked over had me wincing with every hit. After a while he just layed there absorbing punishment yowch! I wouldn't be surprised if he had a couple broken ribs after that fight.

It's fucking brutal isn't it? I thought Randy beat Chuck down in their fisrt fight but he didn't totally dominate Chuck like Rampage did. Being a pretty big Chuck fan this fight is tough to watch.

I remember back in the day, when UFC fighters had to fight in 2-3 matches a night at the early competitions. I wish they'd bring back the round-robin tourney feature.

I think Pride fighters may be tougher, just because there are fewer rules.

I was watching "UFC Unleashed" last night, and Tank Abbott foughter Frank Mir. I was like "Whoa, I remember that Tank guy." He's almost 50 years old now.

i think overall pride has the better fighters, but i find it annoying when they put on the freak show fights (like anything involving giant silva). i enjoy the ufc product better, but i usualy order the PPVs for both
I'm no fan of Chuck but when was this fight? Was it before or after Randy Coture's first fight with Lidell?
Since his loss to Rampage, he hasn't lost and has beat Randy twice, Horn, White and Tito.

I was gonna say. Lidell has been fighting unstoppable as of lately. I would love to watch a rematch of this.

Me too. Hopefully we won't have to wait ages for it.

Anyone watch "Ultimate Fight Night" last night on Spike? I thought Rashad Evans looked pretty good at a lower weight. He really needs to work on his submissions and ground work, though.

That Jardine/Bonnar was awesome, but I really felt that Jardine won.

I agree, Jardine was robbed big time. Don't get me wrong, I love Bonnar, but I just thought the wrong man won the fight.

I thought Bonnar had him when he dropped Jardine, but he wasn't able to finish him off.

Did any of you watch The Ultimate Fighter 3 afterward? It looks like there are some pretty good fighters this year. I can't help but like the deaf guy. He seems like a really good guy and very interested in learning as much as he can.

Yea I like him also. Someone I am also liking is the Ed dude with red buzzed hair. He was pissed that he got picked 6th from the middleweights and he does talk alot of shit like I'm the best in the middleweight division. I hope he fights soon. I like the rule changes that everyone has to fight a pre lim....so unlike last year a person that didnt fight can make it ot the semi finals. I don't like the no more challanges.....stupid flip o 'de ol coin now :)

I was getting sleepy after watching UFN, so I'll have to watch "TUF3" sometime this weekend. Everyone's been saying it's the best season yet. I only wish that Tito and Ken would have fought at the end of the show. Here's to hoping for a re-match down the road. Shamrock says he's just waiting for Ortiz to sign on the dotted line.
I was a little dissapointed in Joe Stevenson. He didn't look like he was into the fight at all.
Joe looked like an amateur after the first round. He looked slower and a little fatter. He is great though i just wished he would have fight like he did in the show. The first round he was great though.
Joe looked like an amateur after the first round. He looked slower and a little fatter. He is great though i just wished he would have fight like he did in the show. The first round he was great though.
My thoughts exactly on him looking fatter. I thought he was going to make that guy tap out in the 1st round when he got him in that kneebar.

I am disapointed with the cast for TUF season 3. I thought they would have brought in some more trained MMA fighters. last year Joe Steveson had a 24-3 MMA record going into TUF:2, and Seth Peterzuli had a 13-3 record, including a win against Dan "The Beast" Severon... yea it was KOTC, but still... I would have thought that they could have gotten a few more expirenced fighters in there. On a side note, Bonner def. did not win that fight last night, but hell i like the guy

And Rampage is not signing with the UFC... YET anyway, i think we will see it down the road because there isn't really anyone left in the 205 pounders who can take him.

UFN last night was atrocious..Leben looked bad, evans can do nothing but wrestle, he would do nothing after getting the takedown. Neer/Stevenson was a great fight tho

how about Jardine getting completely robbed.

full results:

- Chael Sonnen defeated Trevor Prangley by unanimous decision. (30-27 on all cards)
- Josh Koscheck defeated Ansar Chalangov by RNC at 3:29 of Rd. 1
- Dan Christison defeated Brad Imes by Arm Bar at 3:34 in Rd. 3
- Jon Fitch defeated Josh Burkman by RNC at 4:58 of Rd. 2
- Luke Cummo defeats Jason Von Flue by unanimous decision
- Chris Leben defeated Luigi Fioravanti by unanimous decision
- Josh Neer defeated Joe Stevenson by unanimous decision (29-28 on all cards)
- Rashad Evans defeated Sam Hoger by split decision (29-28 Hoger, 29-28 30-27 Evans
- Stephan Bonnar defeated Keith Jardine by unanimous decision
Yeah, Jardine was robbed.

I actually am really happy with the fighters in TUF 3. There seems to be some decent fighters and they have some really good personalities that should make for an interesting show. That's not even counting the whole Ortiz/Shamrock feud.

It should be really interesting.

Ahh yeah, check out Jeet Kune Do vs. MMA.
I'm glad Noah beat Jesse last night on TUF3. After all, Jessie popped his basketball...
I tend to go nuts when a guy gets his opponent in a tight arm or leg bar. I couldn't help screaming and jumping up and down when he was really torqueing that sucker. Sweet move to whip around into that arm bar, too. Or it might have just been really stupid on Jesse's part, what do I know?

Did Tank Abbott cripple a guy? I was watching a HL reel of him and he threw some dude down to the side and his neck and several limbs seemed to be bent in very bad angles, but it was quick and it might have just been the way the guy fell knocked out.

Yeah, I was wincing at the site of the arm bar just being totally locked down. The commentators said that the worst thing Jesse could have done was to try and pull away when Noah attempted the arm bar.

on the subject, I was just wondering if anyone has any links to some good karate, or judo in UFC, or PRIDE matches, for karate i'd like to see kyokushin, karate-do kyoshen.

So, did anyone get the PPV of UFC 59? I was going to get the replay, but they're still charging full price for it. Lame.

I can't wait to see that fight between Gracie and Hughes in UFC 60, May 27!!!
