The plan is to have Christopher Grant, Managing Editor of Joystiq, join us for our 40th episode and 1 year CAGcast Anniversary.

If you have any questions for him, please post them here.

Edit: Show is up!

Awesome! Can't wait!

Huh, I can't think of any good questions.

I guess what I want to know is how do you keep a daily blog fresh given all the competition out there? Sometimes it seems like days where there's nothing to report, and posts end up being a lot of "non-news" filler, or else a hot topic becomes quickly beaten to death.

Also, I notice some of the top blogs seem to try overly hard to enfuse every post with some witticism or attempt at attitude or humor or both. Is there any pressure as a writer to try and sound smarter or be more clever than the audience?

Would a RSS feed, or maybe even a dedicated forum between joystiq.com and cheapassgamer.com, be a possibility? On CAG, several users have brought up the idea of having the offerings of joystiq placed into a dedicated section of the cheap ass gamer website. Would there be any easy way to collaborate the two to offer the services of a dedicated news wire to the CAG community?

I would like to know how he feels about E3 departing; is it really a big deal for the gaming industry to not have a huge event like E3 to look forward to every year?

And I'd like to know if he's heard any more about the rumored DS Earthbound/Mother compilation!

ask him why applying to write for joystiq is such a huge goddamn ordeal. why does a guy with a good resume, references and writing samples have to bend over backwards as well just to submit an application?

Because that guy looks like Jesus. And frankly, it scares the folks over at Joystiq.

Joystiq and other such blogs have been criticized for being light on content and heavy on links with a quick synopsis blurb. Do you see Joystiq as being an objective news aggregator or does the site strive to have an editorial voice? If so, is it up to the individual editor to express his point of view or are issues discussed with all editors before forming a position and posting it? What opportunities do you see in the future to add more editorial content?

How much do you hate Kotaku? Don't you just want to punch that pirate-faced, red-assed baboon, Brian Crecente, right in the face?

Also, will there be another run of shirts, either with the old designs or a new one?

In the face of online game reviews and news sites, print publications have been scrambling to make themselves more relevant. What advice would you give them?

Isn't it great to have epobirs around?

What are your favorite game-related blogs/sites?

How?

Front page section? Dedicated forum? Daily update? It seems like you've got a great thing going on with that, but I (and I'm assuming many others) have had no idea that it existed! Make a banner to show on pages? Easily accessible links on several pages?

Take a look at ESPN's website, while I know you wouldn't be able to put something that complex together, you might be able to incorporate a bit of their system into CAG's. Possibly in the colum with the "Featured", "Archives", and "Coupons" you could put a Joystiq link to that news post or whatever it is. Make it visible is about the best suggestion I can give. Oh, and include some type of picture with the link.

Make sure he says some thing good about the 360. Last time I heard him was after Sony's E3 press converence and he would not say anything bad about Sony.

And play the hype wagon with him.

why do you guys get so offended when people were excited for Smash Brothers Wii. I remember how someone on your staff went into a tirade about professionalism and thats not how journalists are supposed to act. Arent you guys gamers too? Whats wrong with getting excited for a surprise? Who are you guys to get mad about professional journalism, when you are an internet blog? If you cant get excited for covering games, whats the point of doing the job, its not like you are searching for the truth Cronkite.

He doesn't, but he's the commenter with the most stars (a badge of honor given by the editors).

Question: Do you have a real job or does being Managing Editor pay the bills?

EDIT: Not that managing editor isn't a real job... just that writing about video games is a lot more fun than what I do...

WTH is this and why haven't I seen it before?

Actual questions:

Since most internet blog sites are biased opinions or worse, pure bullshit, how difficult do you find it to differentiate yourselves from other blog sites and rise above the crap? Also, how do you see intra-blog politicking (sp?) affecting the public's view on Joystiq's legitimacy?

How about:

Could you please describe (please limit your description to three examples- I know there are many) why you think Kotaku is a better site than Joystiq?

(That should get an interesting response.... :-) )

Please describe what Joystiq does better than Kotaku?

Could you please explain the difference between your two sites? I can't tell the difference....
