I know there's a lot of webhosts out there, but I don't know which ones to use. For now I need the host to be a free one, so that rules out a lot of them. Also, I need it to not have ads/pop-ups which probably rules out most of the free ones. If possible I'd also like it to let me set up [email protected]

There's some other features that would be nice, but until I can pay for a host, I guess I can't be picky.

Also, I might want to buy another domain before long. Anyone know of good places to register a domain that let you pay with paypal?

I have used "1&1" as they are pretty damn nice. They used to offer a free package when they were new to the U.S. (but they have been around a while) but I think there smallest package is $5 a month now. Does include a domain name and multiple email at that domain. Highly suggested.

Do you keep your domain even if you switch hosts? I know a lot of places that offer a "free domain" with their packages register the domain under them and not you, then if you switch hosts, they keep the domain.

I guess that's something I could look into myself. Thanks for the recommendation. Right now, I don't have the money to pay for hosting, but once I do, I'll consider that site for sure.

Microsoft has a free hosting thing going on but its not very good but you get your domain name free for a year but once you use your domain name with them you cant change it to a different host for two months.. you have to go for the basic package to get it free http://officelive.microsoft.com/officelivebasic.aspx?xid=cmmsnaub0050001599mrt and if you want to go to a host that you have to pay you might want to check http://www.dzones.com/ there $5 plan is better than Microsofts $30 and I my dad used them in the past for several years and again recently started using them when he started up his site again.

Alright thanks, I'll check out that Microsoft thing sometime. Do you happen to know if I can host two separate sites on there under one account? I'll also add dzones.com to my list of hosts to check out when I get ready to pay for hosting.

That one sounds promising, but just in case, does anyone have any other free suggestions?
