Who is watching Bush's speech, right now?

I'm completely biased against Bush, but so far, it's not a very exciting speech. I don't think he'll persuade many undecided voters with this one.
 
I think it was a pretty good speech overall. He needed to trim the beginning a bit (just too slow) and chop off a good sized chunk of the end (he didn't seem to have anything new to say the last 10 minutes, so he just repeated some assorted chunks of the speech... I was starting to wonder if the teleprompter got stuck in a loop :p) I also think he shouldn't have spent nearly so much time attacking Kerry - that's the VP's job, the actual canidate is supposed to be above all that. Bush is definitely quite a bit more comfortable with public speaking that he used to be.

Comparing Bush and Kerry's speeching, content-wise, I think Kerry won, presentation-wise, I think Bush won.
 
Too much insulting.

His education initiatives were contradictory, he wants to give each federal, state, and local governments full control of schools.
The problem is that only one can have full control at a time.

And again, he just wouldn't lay off Kerry and those old disproven spin points.

And what I found MOST disturbing was that he had several more countries that are an immediate threat to America. He suggested about 4 more prreemprive wars, which we can not afford in terms of money or troops.
 
arg what a lame slow boring hour speech. It's exactly what I thought it would be, which was the "you need to be more afraid than ever! Be afraid! be very afraid UNLESS you vote for me... or else" attitude. It's really dispicable for a party to exploit our fears to win reelection. Most of it is exactly the same stuff Bush had said in all of his rallies too. Some interesting new stuff was more tax cuts and making them permenent, while creating many programs for the children, health insurance, etc -- basically what the democrats proposed. Wow. As if our nation isn't in huge enough debt so far, looks like Bush wants to go for the whole nine yards and bankrupt us. I can't imagin what kind of chaos that will create then.
 
the part that got me was how he wanted to "reduce regulations" of companies. I think this means that people can drill for oil any place they want and cut down any forest they feel like.

The Bush administration is already basically doing this. It is a serious violation of his oath of office.
 
Kerry gave a really good speech last night after Bush's. Did anyone see that?

"We all saw the anger and distortion of the Republican Convention. For the past week, they attacked my patriotism and my fitness to serve as Commander-in-chief. Well, here's my answer. I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq.

"The Vice President even called me unfit for office last night. I guess I'll leave it up to the voters whether five deferments makes someone more qualified to defend this nation than two tours of duty.

"Let me tell you what I think makes someone unfit for duty. Misleading our nation into war in Iraq makes you unfit to lead this nation. Doing nothing while this nation loses millions of jobs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting 45 million Americans go without healthcare makes you unfit to lead this nation. Letting the Saudi Royal Family control our energy costs makes you unfit to lead this nation. Handing out billions of government contracts to Halliburton while you're still on their payroll makes you unfit. That's the record of George Bush and Dick Cheney. And it's not going to change. I believe it's time to move America in a new direction; I believe it's time to set a new course for America."
