NIS America has set up a special reservation process for their upcoming Ar Tonelico: Melody of Elemia.

The game is NISA's first premium box, which includes a 52-page full color hardcover artwork book. According to their website, a bonus soundtrack CD is only available through pre-orders from their online store. It sounds like you won't get the CD if you pre-order it elsewhere. The book may be pre-packed in the premium box and you should get it anywhere, preordered or not.

To preorder it at NISA, you first obtain a reservation ticket between 12/19/06 - 1/4/07, which allows you to place an pre-order between 1/8/07 - 1/29/07. The game will be shipped out on 2/6/07.

Now, the questions. How is this game? Is it worth $49.99 + $4.95 S&H? Seeing that Atelier Iris 2 just got clearanced at $9.98 at TRU, I'm nervous to pull the trigger :argue:

Lately all of these niche RPG's / not as well known RPG's are getting clearanced in price and are dropping like rocks.

The only one I can think of that has held it's value so far is Magna Carta, which is surprising given the amount of copies I see and the bad press it got.

So here's my prediction: If you're really wanting a new RPG, and this one looks good, buy it and play it. If you can afford to wait, it'll probably drop in price in 4 - 8 months to $29.99.

This whole bit with a soundtrack CD is to get people who are waiting for a price drop to go ahead and throw down full price ASAP. I'm perfectly content to wait for when it hits $24.99 used at EB / GS, espically since I just got 5 RPG's for a little bit over $50.
Yeah it will be a hard choice, 55 dollars is a lot these days for a PS2 rpg.

Especially a niche title.
Yea, I mean I'm sure there will be people who will come and here and say "But it's NISA, it's a niche title, it will sell out and get uber rare you better buy it right now!!!"

These people said the same thing about SMT Devil Summoner, and that dropped to $29.99 in about two months.

Unless someone can provide some info on how this game will be nothing short of fantastic, I will have to wait, or unless the hardcover book will be limited as well.

Well, I just might reserve this one. Granted, I should not have gotten Magna Carta, wasn't worth it. But, this comes with a hardcover book. Cmon, this is the kind of special edition worth getting. Might be worth the extra money.

I'm going to go ahead and reserve it. I'm too impatient to wait for a possible price drop. I want the game ASAP. I'd just waste the extra money on porn or something anyway.

I put in my preorder to preorder a few weeks ago, but Im still not sure if Im actually gonna preorder it. Anyone hear anything about this game? I guess I could flip it if it blows, but I'd rather not bother getting it at all if it sucks.

The book is packaged with the game, possibly in an outer sleeve/box similar to Magna Carta. NISA calls it their first Premium Box. This is a full retail package. If it's not first run only (doesn't say so), you could even get it if and when this game tanks and ends up in a clearance bin :)

However, the bonus CD is NISA store exclusive.

Whew that's good. I completely missed this and I want that artbook.

I'd like to remind everyone just how few developers are sticking with sprites for home consoles these days. Its a dying method of doing things.

This game looks like Atelier Iris, and I imagine it wont exactly sell well.

But if you're going to buy it, please buy it directly from them.

At least the art book is with every game. It looks interesting, and I can't wait to try it. Though, I'd be pissed if I missed the art book. Especially a 50-page hardcover one.
TRU might not carry this game. I dont remember TRU carried Magna Carta.
but they did carry other NIS games like Atelier Iris 2

I'm still unclear on what will be available at the retail outlets (Gamestop/TRU/etc).

Will they have the box/manual at all or just a standard PS2 case?

These boxes are somewhat fragile, and though they may be easy to find later, its less so in good condition (Star Ocean, DQ8, Magna Carta, Growlanser)

From the wording and pictures at NISA and EB/GS, the premium box consisting of the game and the artbook is the standard retail package (that is, available everywhere).

The preorder soundtrack CD is exclusive to the NISA online store though.

If you value the condition of the premium box, I suggest you either preorder it at NISA ($4.95 shipping & get the soundtrack CD) or pick it up at any store when it comes out. I have a feeling that EB/GS will ship it in a padded envelope

Placed my order this morning through NISA and upon receiving the order confirmation email, my order shows Atelier Iris 2 as the game I ordered. Already shot an email to their CS to see what's up and to get it fixed, but wasn't sure if anyone else had the same issue...

omfg, I can't believe i missed this.

Anyone who has a pre order code or would be willing,

let me have the code for the pre order or at least let me buy it off you when you get it!

this applies to people who get this with the soundtrack deal only -.-
I have a code and I'm not using it, but I dont know how transferrable it is, and it is nearly midnight central time on the last day.
Thanks a lot. The code worked and order put in =)

Talk about last minute >.>

Cool, Im glad you got in! :D

Picking this up when it comes out. The dating element really sells me on this (anyone else play Thousand Arms on PS1?!), and I've enjoyed all of Gust's other titles.

Anyone else have a spare reservation code they are not going to use? I know the deadline passed but hopefully I can still order it. Send me a PM if you have a code you could give me.

EDIT: Nevermind someone sent me one. Doesn't work anymore.

I had sent NIS an e-mail about this as well before Dr Mario Kart gave me a pre order code ^^.

Here is their response:

Thank you very much for taking your time to contact us, NIS America, Inc.
We are very happy to hear that you loves Disgaea:O)

I put my order in last night.

This is another new game that I didn't anticipate and couldn't believe I paid full price + shipping for :whistle2:/

I thought the time to get the soundtrack already passed? NISA just sent me an email telling me that the payment for my order hasn't finalized ( I was out of town and didn't buy it) and that I have until Feb 4th to use my reservation code, and that if I don't use the code my reserved copy will be sold in the store.

I guess they are gonna have some soundtracks up for sale when this launches... I'm not sure if I'll go for this or not.

Well it's probably in reference to my post earlier following their response to my email. They said they had some extra copies, so they're probably giving priority to those who had reservation codes 1st before they make it fair game to the rest of the people out there.

What's odd is I got the same email as Roufuss, yet I finalized my order the day the second stage became available. I sent them an email asking what's up. It better be fixed tomorrow or I'll just buy it in the store. I'm giving up my employee discount for that soundtrack after all!

Looks that way...

I just hope it works, as I was out of town when the reservation code e-mails went out...

It doesn't look like you'll need a reservation code anyway. You can just add it to the cart at their store and the description says the soundtrack is included. So much for the staged reservation marketing crap.

I'mma kick NIS' ass for making people go through a 3 stage order when they were just gonna do that anyways....

For Shame...:bs::boxing::twoguns:
First off, we apologize for inconvenience.

We have sent off e-mails based on the list our fulfillment had provided, and your e-mail must have been in there by mistake...

As we checked your order, and it was placed succesfully.

In fact, it has packed and ready to be shipped now.
Yay!

They probably assumed enough people would preorder to where they didn't have extras.

Apparently, enough people didn't care.

The game is no longer for sale on their site I guess. It just dissapeared off of the items for sale, and I got the e-mail saying mine was sent out today ^^.

The bad part about this was I sacrificed getting the DJ Max Prestige Collector's Box =(

Although this is cool, I would've gone with DJ Max instead...damn check cleared a day late >.> :bomb:

1. Shipped today! :O

2. Can't wait! *froths at the mouth*

3. Shipped back home due to uncertainty of where I was living/working at the time = waiting and driving back home next week
