World Wants Bush Out of the White House: Poll

This reminds me of a quote I would like applied to Dubya.

"I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made." -Franklin D. Roosevelt

It's no real suprise that other countries don't want W. Why would you want somebody in power that backs out of the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty? Or backs out of the Kyoto Protocol? Or doesn't support banning land mines?

Um, the Kyoto Protocol was never in place to be backed out of. In fact, during Clinton's presidency the Senate passed a resolution by 95 to 0 that said they would never ratify it in its current form, which allows countries like China to avoid all restrictions. Therefore, blaming Bush for "backing out" of the Kyoto Protocol (a horribly misguided agreement even if you support its aims) is just plain stupid.

Back to the topic, I'm sure nobody's surprised at the poll results. Anyone know where you can get the numbers and not just a story about them?

Duh, of course the world wants Bush out of power.

They would much rather prefer someone who is easier to manipulate and control. Which reminds me - has Kerry recieved any more calls from his "foreign leader" friends who want Bush out of power?

ok let me take a wild guess, but i bet that some of the countries that want Bush out of the white house probably include.. North Korea.. Saudi Arabia.. Iran.. Syria.... (add in all other nations with terrorist links) ... might include Germany and France since we screwed up their oil deals with Iraq..

shit if i was a nation that was supporting terrorism, or something to that nature, and i thought that another country might come in and do something about it, i would probably want that country to change leadership to a president who wouldnt do shit about it too... i mean they're not stupid.

No no, they are stupid. Just not that stupid.

Reasonable, thinking people.

That's Funny since France, Germany, Russia, Spain and others don't give a rats ass about what we want.

You know it'd be an improvement for most of the world ... even with Bush in office.

The greatest flaw with the Kyoto Protocol was the exclusion of developing countries. China, however, ratified the Protocol and stated that they would do their part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. China is the second largest emitter of greenhouse gases (can you guess who is the largest?), so with China on board the U.S. should not have removed its support for the Protocol. Blaming Bush for leaving the Protocol is not only fair but is completely accurate. If it would have died in the Senate, then Bush would have been off the hook and the Senate would have been at fault. It was never given that chance, however.

"The only countries where Bush was preferred in the poll of 34,330 people that was conducted mainly in July and August were the Philippines, Nigeria and Poland. India and Thailand were divided."

That's the international support Dubya has?!? Laughable...

Of course it's reasonable, and absolutely correct. Every country looks out for its best interests, and the U.S. is no different. It's just that some people can't accept that we're not looking out for France's or Russia's interests, strangely enough.

So do you blame Clinton for our failure to ratify it as well? After all, he never submitted it to the Senate, knowing as Bush does that it has no hope of ever being ratified in its current form. Even if China actually did reduce its own emissions (promises, promises, same as Russia), that leaves out all the other developing countries that have huge and increasing emissions, such as Mexico, Brazil, India, etc. This is where the big increases in emissions are going to come from in the future. So it is just insipid to support a treaty that exempts the sources of future increases while destroying our economy to do so. Whether you believe something should be done about emissions beyond what we're doing or not, the Kyoto Protocol would have a devastating effect on our economy and thus would be a extremely stupid thing to enact, as understood by every single member of the United States Senate.

You Sir, are an imbicile.

Almost as much an imbicile as people who care what the rest of the world thinks about us.

I wonder how many times you tossed in bed wondering, "Why can't the French and Germans be concerned with American interests, rather than thinking we should placate them?"

I would suspect never.

I understand the Dominican Republic is looking for new citizens. You might be more comfortable there.

It really underminds your argument when you misspell imbecile.

I could virtually careless about my spelling on an internet forum.

My point was, if you're calling someone an imbecile, you should at least know how to spell it or risk being the imbecile yourself.

And to be fair, I meant "undermines" instead of "underminds" which isn't a word.
