#12151707 GOG Deals Thread: GOG's 6th Birthday Sale Ongoing (Year 3 games on sale,...

Posted by dark_inchworm on 10 October 2014 - 06:01 PM

Today's sale is just a recap of all the previous sale games in this promotion.

I didn't pay any attention at all during the first mutator phase, but I know there are some games up for purchase as part of the promo today that weren't part of phase 2. Broken Age, Soulbringer, Total Overdose, not sure what else.

In a way I'm glad I didn't check out the list of potential mutators, as I probably would have completely backed out. As it is, out of nine surprises, there were two I really wanted (In Cold Blood, Tower of Guns) and two I could live without (Great Battles and Sword of the Samurai). Inherit the Earth or Guacamelee would've been nice...

#11557557 XBL Deals - Jan 6 - Sep 4, 2014

Posted by dark_inchworm on 25 February 2014 - 05:09 PM

OK... So I added Oblivion and Rock of Ages this morning... I mean, Oblivion, at $3.74, using M$ store starbucks that were 2/3 off, it only really cost me $1.25. That's a lot of content for a buck twenty five.

I still have so much credit from that sale. Man, that was epic.

I never got one or two of those codes from that epic sale, and I doubt they do anything about it now :p I did burn through what I managed to score a LONG time ago, before I slowed down my XBL purchases substantially.

As for my sale haul? Runner2, Soul Calibur II, Pool Nation, and Real Steel. I was happy to see lots of very steep XBLA discounts; I was sad to see that many of them were for games I had already paid more for and in some cases never played. Still slapping myself over Guardians of ME.

If it's still active so late, people should consider checking out Rock Band Blitz. And someone should check out the Adventure Time game for $20... if they like being ripped off ;)

I haven't tried that trick yet and haven't determined if I will, but workers at my nearest BB often tend not to bother actually looking up price matches, simply taking my word for it. So YMMV, but I'd say your chances are decent, unlike stubborn-ass Walmart and always-verify Target.

Unrelated, I PM'd Pokemon X at BB the other day and the cute blonde got all Pokeflirtatious with me. It was nice but I kept my Diglett in my pants.

$5 each for MoH Warfighter, Inversion, and Steel Battalion was good enough for me. And I'd actually meant to bite on Darkspore at $5 earlier, but the drop to $3 was even better.

Holding out for further drops on Fuse and Deadpool, and hoping for some restocks but not counting on them.

#11434250 Target Clearance Thread XXI (YMMV) [euthanised]

saw the new adventure time game for 3ds. " explore the dungeon because I don't know" on clearance for 14.98

That's 13.98 too much. I got a free Redbox rental code over the weekend and used it for the 360 version, and I want my money back.

Tax kills it.

Not sure if XBLM joke or legit pot price criticism, or both :p I saw some chap's receipt for 3.5 grams come to 60 and change, and while that may be a shocker for some out there, that is sadly a passable price out here in our "marketplace."

For the sake of saying something somewhat relevant to the topic, let me chime in from out of nowhere that you should not pick up Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon etc. if it ever comes up for a "good" price, because the game sucks more balls than Sasha Grey in her entire career. I would rather play Gauntlet with my hands cuffed and both of my eyes scooped out. You're welcome.

I thought about driving to a somewhat-distant Target just to pass the time, but since this thread's been a near-total ghost town this week, I think that tells me all I need to know.

I did reap one nifty benefit from the 90% off Xmas stuff, though: a $20 portable vacuum for $2, last one left too. Even if it breaks within the year, that beats having to shell out a buck fifty to rush an unwieldy hose around the van before time runs out.

Plus I live in Colorado where the weed I will never smoke is legal.

Holding out for a DOTW there?

Remember Me sold out? That's a bit of a shocker to me. (No comment on the quality of the game, I haven't played it)

Trolls still pose "play dumb" questions in an attempt to snark it up? Whoa

Well shit, I forgot to buy the Jumbo bundle. I didn't realize it'd already been two weeks. Though I have the majority of the content, so... no gigantic loss.

I'll probably forget to buy this one too. WB bundle aside, they haven't really done much to amaze lately. And let's not talk about Indie Royale's spiral...

#11254885 GOG Deals Thread: GOG's 6th Birthday Sale Ongoing (Year 3 games on sale,...

Posted by dark_inchworm on 19 November 2013 - 06:40 AM

Well, other than some double dips I was tempted to make, I got everything I wanted except Tomb Raider and how did I miss that three times damn it.

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic

Alpha Centauri

Aquanox

Aquanox 2: Revelation

The Chaos Engine (well, I got charged for it - gonna email them now that I'm done staring at their site)

Fez

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams

Jade Empire: Special Edition

King of Dragon Pass

La Mulana

The Lords of Midnight

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident

Retro City Rampage

Sacred Gold

Shadow Man

Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945

Space Colony HD

Spellforce Platinum

Startopia

Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon

Wing Commander Privateer

Wing Commander 4

I certainly didn't expect to come away with so many games - most of them not being games I've already owned in some form! - and I know I probably wouldn't have spent as much if not for the very nature of the sale egging on my desire to have something extra after what would often be several hours of waiting (I'd say at least half of my purchases were made within the first few hours of me watching the sale).

I may not be able to spend much on their inevitable holiday sale, and I probably won't be inclined to bite on anything without a discount greater than 60%, but between this and a half dozen games through their charity promo, I'm tickled.

No Tomb Raider, Spellforce, Alpha Centauri, or King of Dragon Pass while I slept, I see... well, that's sort of reassuring.
