In Topic: Club Nintendo Deals ~ New Games Up (9/8-10/12)

Not sure what the hate is all about? Nintendo gives you free games/prizes for buying their titles all the time. The world is moving digital. I love my Platinum statue, my posters, my Majora's mask cd and even the Mario related pins they gave out. I don't mind more games though. My backlog will shed more tears knowing it's not a physical gift.

No idea what I am getting either. All the Platinum titles minus Game & Wario I do not own. Been wanting to get DKC3DS, also very interested in Earthbound, NES Remix and Dr. Luigi.  Tough one for me.

In Topic: Best Buy Smash Bros Wii U Coin/$5 Cert when preordering on 6/11 and 6/14

12 June 2014 - 01:35 AM

I wanted a coin, but no way I was going to wait it out today. I swung by the North Irvine location in TX around 3:30, and there were easily already 100 people in line by the time I got there, and I consider this location to be one of the less frequented locations in the DFW area (it's right by a Fry's which seems to draw more people). I can only imagine how crazy Saturday will be with more people being off from work/school/etc.

While I am happy to see that Nintendo seems to be gaining some real popularity the last few days, I wish these events were better executed. I can't help but feel there are going to be a lot of unhappy people come release day when promised coins are not delivered.

Did any stores actually hand out coins today? For those that were promised a coin, did they give any indication as to how they would know you get a coin at pickup time versus someone who preordered outside of the event (does receipt say anything about it, did they take down your name or address, etc.)? I cant help but feel that, at pick up time, they will end up giving them to the first people who pick up the game, regardless of whether they preordered in the event or not. Trying to decide whether I bother trying again on Saturday. I might be willing to wait on Saturday when I have more free time, but only if I know I will get a coin.

From what various people here have posted, each store seems to be saying something different. By any chance, did anyone here wait it out at the North Irvine store? If so, what were they saying about the coins?

Hey bro, not Irving but I went to the Galleria one here in DFW. I can tell you, no names were taken. No one had a real answer or knew much. I asked would it depend which version I pre-order since the WiiU one comes out later than the 3ds. Didn't get an answer, just shrugs from best buy employees and the Nintendo reps. They did mention I was (at least) in the first 30 people to pre-order at that location but I am going to take it with a grain of salt and assume they are going to get a box with the coins and it's going to be a free-for-all come October when the 3ds version comes out.
