This must have been a pricing mistake. The listing is gone and an email receipt they sent me shows the console being on sale for &179.xx. The did honor the $79 price though, by subtracting a huge discount. The only ones I could find were in Hawaii where my parents live. I got a security call this morning requesting a lot A LOT of info for the purchase to go through, 3 consoles for pick up. The operator took my info and processed the order...she called back a minute later and asked me how I got the discount?!! I think she saw the price and may have wanted to get one because she didn't ask it in an official manner but instead in a weird way. I told her the web site showed that price.
Well, yeah, that's great except for the part where Mario Party 9 wasn't available in store so I had to order it for shipping.
So I just got a response from my "contact us" email. To summarize: there's nothing that can be done.
Which is all fine but I'm sure I'd still be out the $7.99 shipping and of course they failed to offer any compensation or adjustment to the order or even to acknowledge the issue (despite it being the main point of my inquiry to them).
I guess I have to call them on Monday. The least they can do is refund the shipping price so that I can return the game for the rest of the $29.99 + $7.99 shipping when it gets here. That's still a pain in the ass, though, since I don't want to have to set foot in a TRU this time of year (not to mention it is 40 miles round trip for me).
It's just, you know, I somehow doubt they would have cancelled the $29.99 game and sent me the free one if the stock situation had been reversed.
A couple $29 angry birds werent available, but I did pick up the 2 free pokemons. I wonder if they end up being free?
