#11650659 PSN Weekly Deals - 4/15: LEGO Sale, Flying Hamster HD/Sunflowers (Vita)...

Posted by investor on 28 March 2014 - 11:48 PM

Completely off topic but I want to vent.

Bought a new car 2 months ago (first one in 12 years) and just noticed someone door dinged me.  It is on the driver side also so I will notice it every day.  That is what I loved about my beater.  I did not give a crap anymore about dings.

Sorry to hear about that, bro.  That is one of my greatest fear.  Luckily, that hasn't happened to any of my prized German possessions.   I always tried to park far and away whenever I can, but when I come back to my car there's always some dick with his beater or SUV parking next to my car even when there's a million emptied spaces available elsewhere.  But if I were in your shoes, it's worth looking into the paintless dent repair guys (which will run anywhere from $100 to $300 depending on how deep the ding is).  Just think of it as the annual cost of ownership like an oil change, which runs $186 for me.  And that a great deal from my local dealership.

Ni No Kuni is a must buy at that price.  I paid over $15 for mine not too long ago, and it's still sitting on the shelf.  I really need to be discipline and NOT to buy anything from these PSN sales until they hit 75% off.

Just read the posts above. A lot of people are having issues with the PSN store. Try clearing cookies AND data for your browser, then close all the taps and open up a new one afterwards.

Is anybody else having trouble with the store? I thought about searching the thread but this is kind of an emergency because it's Saturday night.

Hi Jay.  I just logged out and back in again and made a purchase without any issues.  Try deleting your cookies.  What browser are you using?

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with the PSN store, is anyone else having issues? I gotta assume I'm the first person to bring it up.

Trust me, guys, 500 GB is just not enough anymore. I finally just switched to a 500 GB drive from a 160 GB, and I am already running out of space.

You really should look at the 1 Tb hybrid drives for under $100 now, because you're going to later again.

Looks like that 500gb HD at Best Buy is back up to $99 pre-coupon, for a $70 take home price. I guess I don't need to worry about the install now after all because I was too slow. Bullocks.

curses, was actually going to swing by at lunch and grab one. thanks for saving me the trip at least, I'm sure I wouldn't have checked.

In for $20 last night after we flew back from California on Christmas day. I'll look around for to see if I have any sealed PS3 games to donate, too.

Added a sealed copy of Twisted Metal :ps3:

I don't even know if the other guys above even played the game.  It is absolutely worth the $2.50.  I had purchased it awhile ago for $8, but just started playing it this week.  It's been 5 days, and I just couldn't put it down.  There's so much to do.  The main campaign is enjoyable, but then there's the Arkfalls (where everyone gathers there and joins forces to take down these events), the Shadow Wars (where you join one faction to face off against another faction), PvP mode, Co-op mode both of which I have yet to try.  To each his own I guess!  But personally, I'm having a lot of fun with Defiance.

Is Defiance worth it. Seams like it will unsupported soon. Any thoughts?

#11261039 Best Buy WD 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive for Laptops/PS4/PS3 64.99

Posted by investor on 20 November 2013 - 11:05 PM

It's really too bad that video comparison didn't use a 7200 rpm drive as well.  I would love to see how close it is to the hybrid drive.  The hybrid drive is only 4 seconds slower than the SSD.  Now if the 7200 rpm drive is around 6 seconds slower than the SSD, and at about $40 - $60 cheaper than the hybrid drive, then the 7200 rpm drive may be the better alternative.

While this is not a great price, it's not bad either, especially for Best Buy. I purchased a 1 Terabyte Western Digital laptop 2.5 drive a few weeks ago at Fry's Electronics for $50. There will probably be even better deals on Amazon and Newegg over Black Friday/Cyber Monday, if you are willing to wait a little while.

The PS3 and PS4 are both designed with replaceable hard drives in mind. You can replace the hard drives for both with generic 2.5 inch laptop drives fairly easily. There don't seem to be any real restrictions for the PS3, but for the PS4 you must have a minimum size of 160 GB. Given the price of HDDs these days, that's pretty reasonable.

Your best bet for pairing performance with price is to get a hybrid drive. SSDs will give you faster loading, but are still prohibitively expensive. If all you care about is getting lots of extra space, stick to a basic HDD. For around $100 you can usually get between 2 and 3 Terabytes.

I'm hoping they update the PS4 with media playback at some point. Using my PS3's hard drive as a library for music and video storage and playback was one of my favorite features. I love that they are still letting me upgrade as I see fit, but those extra terabytes would be more meaningful with my collection of MP3s and MP4s copied to them.

No problem.  That's one of the best items in the game, and I use it all the time to level up my other vocations right before leveling up again.  The Queen's outfit/armor and the Knight's armor are the other two items that I have with me so far at level 50.

Just wanted to say I didn't realize until browsing this thread that I had to have an original Dragon's Dogma save to get the eternal ferrystone in Dark Arisen. I just assumed it was part of Dark Arisen. Started a Gamefly free trial and rented the vanilla version so I could have a save for it. Thanks guys.

I couldn't stand AC 1, so much so that it turned me off the entire series all these years. Last year I decided to give AC 2 a try after reading all the positive things about it, and I was glad I did. AC 2 is miles ahead of the 1st one. I'm going to play Brotherhood next in the series, but only after I'm through with my current backlog.

#11117562 Star Trek PS3 $9.99 @ Amazon

Posted by investor on 07 October 2013 - 08:17 PM

I've been a fan of the Star Trek series since the Captain Kirk era, and I love the two reboot movies.  Don't let anyone else tells you whether you're a fan of the series or not.

I love both... the reboot brought about new popularity and maintains the legitimacy of both timelines.  Win win.

He's definitely confused about something.  PSN Plus is a tremendous value, and a great addition to your world of gaming.

Plus is a waste of money. All you get is 7-8 year old games and cloud saving should be free for everyone.

I think you're confusing PS+ with XBox Live.   ;)

#11101328 Tomb Raider, Dishonored $9.99 Hitman:Absolution $8.99 free ship gam...

Heck yeah!  I'm holding off for the Dishonored GOTY edition since I one is quite significant.  Hitman was free for Plus members before, so I'm expecting Tomb Raider to be free for Plus members as well some day.

You guys think Hitman and Dishonored are worth it at that price? I'm tempted
