At some point, linearity became a bad word in the gaming world.
F that. I like my games linear. I like the storytelling.
Short and long fiction have the last word in linear storytelling. Games should play to their unique strengths, the story exists for context to player agency. That got somewhat forgotten in this gen: Uncharted/Mass Effect/Journey/Walking Dead all being overrated for example. Frankly I think it's more of a problem with literacy among gamers than anything.
But hey, grats for copping to a (now only slightly) unpopular opinion.
